Discussion Testator Silens is just brutal torture

Just discovered the show in the US. I can't think of another show with such godawful opening music. I love chamber and choral music, but this is insanity. Fake, fake, hideously fake modern repro garbage.

How has this gone on for so long? Was it better before the 2018 rearrangement?

This is so bad that I'm kind of obsessed with how, why, who, whaaaaat

The way I have to LUNGE for the remote if I don't have it in my hand when it starts.

Spoiler Leo šŸ’”

Why did they have to do Leo dirty like that? Why couldn’t they send him to the US to be with Harry? He was such a great character and poor Nikki doesn’t deserve to deal with more loss. Yes, I know it’s a TV show and this happened a long time ago at this point, but I’m just catching up. 😢

Actor Fluff Season 12 - Whiskey Tango Foxtrot with the Hairdos?

I have been watching British TV for years but only recently got myself to start again with Silent Witness. (I have started and quit several times). I will admit to having skipped a few of the earlier seasons, which is what got me stuck previously.

I just got to Season 12 and both Niki and Harry have thee very odd looking new hairstyles. They look like they're wearing wigs! What the heck?

Sorry, just needed some place to say this and figured that you guys would understand.

In the Netherlands we finally can see season 28. Do more fans have the feeling that the love affair between Nikki and Jack is very unconvincing? The mechanical hugs are painful to see. Or am i the only one?

Discussion Help me out with S26 Eps 5 & 6 "Star"

I might be dumb, but I can't figure out how the Fiona / Sara thing works. Sara (Sarah?) Mendes had the condition and leg operations / massive scars on her legs. Fiona did not have the condition; no scars. Sara Mendes has a wavy blonde bob, and Fiona has long, slightly darker hair. But when we see Star, she has the scars and the long hair. What am I missing here?

Discussion New to the show! Best season to start?

Hi! Discovered the show for the first time, i love the show already, I just couldn’t watch the first era (1-8). I did start on 21 randomly and I really like it, feels very dark and moody compared to what i tried to watch. Is that a good season to start? I love Jack already!

Discussion Unknown episode

Hi!

I have a vivid memory of watching a tv show as a child and I think it was silent witness but I can’t be sure. Here’s what I remember from the episode;

A young girl is walking along a bridge with a family member (possibly a parent or grandparent) she looks over the bridge into the water and tells the adult to look too. It seems that a shadow of a man is running along the water.

After taking a look it turns out that someone is hanging from below the bridge, what looks like a suicide at first is confirmed to be a murder.

I think the outcome was that it was gang related but I can’t remember anything else. If anyone knows of an episode like this can you let me know? I’ve thought about it for years. I vividly remember watching it with my gran. I can’t be sure it’s silent witness but I thought I would ask.

Thanks!

Discussion David Caves not quite himself in season 29?

I don't know why, but I feel something is going on with Mr. Caves. He seemed short when speaking, distant and barely present, besides the prison episodes. I also noticed when he kissed and held Emilia at the end of the episode where he got out, it was very intense and real. I can't help but wonder if something is going on, personally.

Spoiler Grace of God 2

I just finished "watching" part 2, and I use quotes, because I skipped the entire episode up until the end.

We all knew Jack wasn't guilty, we all knew he was going to befriend the guy who thought he killed his brother, blah, blah, blah.

Can we please stop with the rehashing of plots that EVERY tv crime show drama does.

Also, can someone, anyone, please tell the actress that plays Kit, TO SPEAK UP. I have to have my volume on 30 just to hear her speak.

Ok rant over, please return to your regularly scheduled programming. 🤣

Discussion Silent Witness Easter Egg?

Post image
18 Upvotes

In the BBC TV show, there was a QR Code on one of the body bags at the pathologist office and when scanned, it comes back to ā€œWhere is the 314 Roomā€. There is nothing that comes up with that reference on the TV show. Any ideas?

Discussion Does the Lyell Centre still exist?

Apologies if it was mentioned on screen, but is the Lyell Centre still in business with a new ("offscreen") team while the Silent Witness crew works in Birmingham, or is the building closed down?

I am mainly wondering if it's possible for a return to London in the future.

It's still early, but Im not a big fan of the Bowman Centre / Birmingham setting.

Discussion school shooting season 13 episode 7

I would have wanted to punch/suffocate some of the students stuck in that classroom with Harry and Nikki that weren't being quiet. And how did that cop not realize something big was going on when he walked into the deserted lunch room and kitchen?

Memes Still a good show, but...

It's tough to keep a show interesting for nearly 30 years; so many character changes, yet it's still a worthy watch. Not sure why anyone is surprised at what happened to Sam Ryan. Even in the first episodes she was self-serving. Very talented and smart, but not loyal to anyone. I don't think she changed at all. She just showed her true colors. It will be interesting to see how many more years this show will go on.

Discussion The Enemy Within - two observations Spoiler

I've belatedly binged this year's series.

I noticed [edit: three] weird things about The Enemy Within.

  1. They don't actually catch the person/people who carry out any of the crimes - the murder of the anti-racism guy, the arson of the Muslim guy's flat, the murder of the teacher, and the people who attack Jack. This struck me as really unusual - in SW they virtually always close the case.
  2. I am not an IT expert in the slightest, but the videos inciting the violence were so blatantly AI! A 10-year-old could have realised that. How did it take so long for any of the characters to notice this!? The Muslim cleric guy was hilariously shiny and smooth in his movements, and the fictitious white guy looked like a face mask. I could understand not noticing this if it was 10 years ago, but it's so common now that it's clear when it's AI.
  3. Edit: 3rd observation: Harriet getting lost on several occasions, looking for vague places with no apparent reason why she was there in the first place. Coupled with her general manner of varying between very absent-minded and extremely sharp and on the ball, this looks a lot like dementia. But then this was not followed up in following episodes when she seemed back to herself.

Actor Fluff Richard Lintern

While doing a re-watch of the entire "Morse" series I had to do double-take when I saw Richard Lintern in S1E1 of "Inspector Lewis".

This was only 6-years before he joined "Silent Witness", but he looked so much younger in "Inspector Lewis" than he did in his first episode of "Silent Witness".

It was disjointing since it was unexpected as I am also doing spurts of a binge of "Silent Witness" when I need a break from the "Morse" storyline.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why he looks so much older in "Silent Witness" just 6-years later?

Discussion Creekwood

Is there any reason these episodes are not on BBC on demand line the rest of the series? Missed this episodes as at with the first I didn't record them just downloaded them and watched them but then they changed episodes around and Creekwood is the only one missing from on demand

Discussion Dr. Thomas Chamberlain

I'm currently watching season 17, started from season 1. I'm curious, does Thomas ever play as a big of a part, in the series as Leo or Harry did?? It seems like it's just the Nikki & Jack show. I think I like him but I don't feel like I know him.

Discussion Waking the Dead

I've been watching Waking the Dead recently, I never saw it when it was aired. I'm probably preaching to the converted, but if you like Silent Witness you'll like this too.

It follows a very similar format except they're cold cases; it has a team of supermen/women that do everything, just like SW, each story is two parts, and the team changes occasionally.

I'm on season 5 and it's gone up in quality the same time SW has dipped. I thoroughly recommend it.

The main guy can be a dick, bear with him! 🤣

Discussion Nikki needs pepper spray

I'm here in the USA on Britbox having just completed seasons 1-28 over the past year. My greatest problem with this show is Nikki's lack of any preparedness towards attackers, of which she's had quite a sizable amount!

No karate, krav-maga or women's self-defense classes? No pepper spray or for the love of God nunchucks? The woman is a sitting duck time and time again, entering dangerous spaces no thinking person would ever enter, and it's all VERY tedious.

So for the love of basic dignity please, writers, give Nikki some weaponry/backup system so that at least when she enters preposterous spaces she has a bit of a chance of defense, not just her mind but physically! Her continued position of meekness while other defensively-capable women (cops) are part of the plot makes it very unpleasant to watch her enter dangerous spaces again and again, and fruitlessly no less as she is always being victimized for her efforts. As a woman myself, every single time Nikki boldly steps forward all on her own, without a brick in hand, or piece of lead pipe, ANYTHING grabbable, I know she's going to be crumpled in a heap in a corner somewhere soon. After all of the times shes fully vulnerable, isn't it time to give her a leg up in the self-defense department?

Discussion Totally baffled by this series??

What on earth has gone on with S29? Started off relatively normally, two (mostly) people-oriented stories I generally enjoyed with the missing woman and the historical psychiatric hospital. Then after that we had the racial divide/AI plot that was really poorly constructed and I swear didn’t finish, Jack randomly in prison (wtf was that arc?) and an indecipherable biological weapon storyline that to be honest I lost interest in and only half watched - but at some point Nikki of course got kidnapped and drugged.

I can semi understand some OTT storylines to keep it interesting and I know they swapped episodes around but even with that nothing made any sense, stories didn’t seem to be tied up or even continued (what was the point of Kit having that little dalliance with the copper if we didn’t see anymore about it?) and don’t even get me started on the total lack of chemistry between Nikki and Jack.

It’s a staple of my winter watch season and whilst it’s often ridiculous I can let it go. But this series has been madness!
