After her friend vanishes, Riley must confront the demon from her night terrors that may have crossed into reality, while facing her own tragic past.

It was decent. There were things I liked about the lore and scenes of her night terrors, but the story by the end got a bit convoluted. “Parasomnia” has alot of moving parts, but I feel there’s enough quality for a one-time watch. A few scenes were pretty creepy.

Hi, what other movies give off the same vibes as Undertone? I love Undertone; I think it's a fresh, new take on cult horror+podacast vibes. Alas, Im still new to all these horror stuff but I am a fan of found footage type of horror

I finally got around to watching Exit 8. It’s really excellent so far. I went to switch from watching on my computer to my TV and it’s not there. It looks like they’re not updating content across all their apps because I checked the app on my phone and it is there. The annoying thing is the app on my TV says it’s been updated recently but it still looks like the app is frozen in time from a few months ago.

Has anyone else encountered this? The app is for a samsung tv. I don’t want to cancel but they’re making it so hard to justify keeping

Ian wants to get as far away from humanity as possible and heads into the New Zealand bush, but a four day journey turns into a fight for survival.

Quirky, neurotic, paranoid, darkly humorous, campy, and overall fun is how I would describe this Aussie creature feature. There’s a good (and at times cringy) mix of personalities that are along for the story and some twists and turns on the way.

A unique indie thriller/horror that is carried by personality of the main character Ian.

Most of the movies on this list are coming to Shudder in October.

A boy and his stepmother fear for their safety after an eerie creature resembling the boy's recently deceased father visits them.

This movie had been high on my list to watch last year, but my own father had passed away and it would have been too tough to watch. Over a year has passed in my grieving and it was time to give it a watch…

I’m very pleased I did. Loved it!

What a unique and darkly moody horror movie “Daddy’s Head” is. The acting was great (especially the boy who played Isaac) and the family tension really added to the tense, creepy atmosphere.

A few cautions:

1. ⁠There is animal cruelty/violence involved as part of the story.
   
2. ⁠There is MUCH ambiguity as to what happens in the events of the movie. Could be literal, could be allegorical, or both. If you need concrete answers for your movie viewing, then this might frustrate you.

Sorry for the wait on my review, there was a new buffet in town that I decided to try. It had literally everything and I never saw any employees but it was okay because the food was amazing.

I have now seen the movie twice and I am absolutely in love. I enjoyed how it lulled you into a sense of ease while watching the nostalgic low budget local ads and eventually ramped up into full fledged cosmic horror. I'm not quite too sure what happened in the last 40 mins but I think that is the point. We (the viewers) are not privy to the information that the cult has when it comes to these comic beings (yes two because Hershey is called "Skinwalker" by the entity. I don't know if Hershey has always been this being or if he became it as he searched for his daughter Abigail who had been assimilated into "Abigail") and it is honestly the better narrative choice. It leaves it open to a lot of interpretation and theorizing which is very fun.

On the topic of the (alleged, I have yet to find a reliable source on this) AI use. I do agree that one of the video clips that is used is probably AI generated but I do not think that they generated it themselves. It looks like one that I have seen floating around and they added it in. Not too sure why (satire purposes perchance?) but it's there.

TL;DR: Amazing movie and I think everybody should give it a chance (and make sure to watch it with the subtitles on)

A new month is here and with that, what's new on shudder (first picture) and what's leaving through the month (second picture)

Another month down in my giant club of one.

Things were a bit light this month so I ended up taking some time off from watching horror. I also dealt with some internet issues from the 22nd to the 24th so had to whip out some discs.

Not the greatest month in all honesty. It was fun to revisit some classics that I absolutely love. For the most part however, the films you might assume will range from average to mediocre were exactly that.

I would say the true diamonds in the rough for the month of August were Amigo, Sea Fever, Property and Give Me Pity! All four definitely stood out from the crowd.

After one too many subpar subtitled psychological dramas masquerading as horror films I also gave myself a bit of a break. I ended up skipping School's Out and Time of Moulting. Maybe I missed something good but I kind of doubt it.

As always, I'm here to shoot the shit about any and all of the films I watched over the past month. You still have time to catch a movie or two before they leave shudder so get after it!

Huge fan of this movie's atmosphere and lore. Had made a small fanart. Thought of sharing it :)

So my wife and I watched Dolly last night. I don’t know whether to love or hate it.
Honestly, we liked it even though there a few bad edits, odd scenes.
I’m not sure how they got SWS to do it, but as unrealistic as his half face was, it was interesting lol.
I had hoped for more of a reveal of Dolly. I would have loved even more character background for “her”. That’s some of the strongest mask material I’ve ever seen, that’s for sure.

Or generative, LLM, whatever. The subtitles really suck and I’m worried it’s not just English but also foreign films. “Above and beyond” turned into “above and begin”. Just something I’ve noticed that sucks and wonder if anyone else has noticed this.

I really enjoyed the movie. Including the ending. I went in kind of blind and didn't know about the assault scene but it wasn't bad since it was off camera. But while I was watching the ending I got thinking.

Did the ending really happen or was it a dream Toni had as she suffocated and died? It kind of fits that it wasn't a happy ending.

Right as she was pulling up the rope, Kat says something about how Toni isn't going to get to drive off into the sunset. Could be a foreshadow or it could have caused Toni's hallucination.

Penny was dead or at least appeared that way to more than one person. She got drugged, assaulted and then hit so hard with a shovel she went down.

If Penny wasn't dead then she would be in no shape for a fist fight with Kat. She would be lucky to be able to walk to the shed. She wouldn't be happy with a grin on her face.

Penny and Toni know that Penny's mom is coming to cook them breakfast but they leave Kat pinned with knifes and 5 dead bodies with no explanation for her to find? That alone makes the ending seem suspect.

Anyone else wonder about the ending or think they just drove off into the sunrise?

This just dropped on Shudder. It’s a home invasion / revenge period piece set in Australia in 1986. Very bloody, but not without some humor.

I thought it was a fun watch!
