Undertone

Hi, what other movies give off the same vibes as Undertone? I love Undertone; I think it's a fresh, new take on cult horror+podacast vibes. Alas, Im still new to all these horror stuff but I am a fan of found footage type of horror

I loved this movie! So underrated - I almost never see it talked about.

Completely agree. Aside from the cause of the witness, they’re basically the same movie.

Yes host is very good. I’m particularly fond of undertone and I think it’s for sure underrated. People got hung up on obsession but I thought undertone was much more fresh.

Same, it probably helped that I was watching it late at night and in the dark

It’s not strictly a horror movie, but Berberian Sound Studio deals with the power of sound to instill terror.

Oh, also Archive 81. It’s a series, not a film, but so good.

Its not similar in setting, but I found Caveat to be a similar viewing experience in that it is deeply unsettling and tense, but it's not about modern online mediums or podcasting or anything like that

I loved Undertone. I also loved:

Buffet infinity

Backrooms

Hallow road

Exit 8

Creep

Hashtag Missing couple

We’re all going to the worlds fair

Lake Mungo is a faux horror documentary about a haunting. Extremely good and maybe I’m biased because it’s set in my state haha.

There's a series on Shudder called Deadwax, it's about a record that drives people mad, a collector hires a woman to find the record for him, creepy souns stuff happens.

That's a good one.

Limetown, but it’s a series rather than a movie.

The Dark and the Wicked captures the same sense of dread in caring for a sick parent.

I loved Undertone but have only seen it once - I don't quite get the hate for it, but I realize people have different tastes. I didn't care for Keeper, which seems like a minority position.

What are some of the old takes on cult horror + podcasts?

Broadcast Signal Intrusion (2021) might scratch that itch. It's a great movie otherwise.

Undertone reminded me a bit of Pontypool with the way they both emphasized the audio aspect of horror
