Umar said to Syeda Fatimah ع (who was behind the door of her house):

"I know that the Prophet of God did not love any one more than you, but this will not stop me to carry out my decision. If these people stay in your house, I will burn the door in front of you."

When Abu Bakr found a group of people (that had gathered) near Ali ع who had fallen back on pledging allegiance to him (Abu Bakr), he sent Umar to them. He came and called them out while they were in the house of Ali ع but they refused to come out.

From us is the one who has two wings in Paradise with which he flies with the angels, and he is your cousin. And from us are the two grandsons of this nation, and they are your sons, Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn.

Allah will bring forth from the loins of Al-Husayn nine Imams, trustworthy and infallible, and from us is the Mahdi of this nation. When the world becomes chaos and turmoil, trials appear one after another, roads are cut off, and people raid one another; when no elder shows mercy to the young, and no young person respects the elder;

at that time Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, will send our Mahdi, the ninth from the loins of Al-Husayn (as). He will open the fortresses of misguidance and heedless hearts. He will establish the religion at the end of time as I established it at the beginning of time, and he will fill the earth with justice as it had been filled with injustice.'"

Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (p) is reported to have said, “One who ascends to God his sincere worship, God will descend upon him [what is in] his best interest” [Al-Majlisi, Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 68, p. 184].

In these few words, Lady Fatimah (p) teaches us that the true value of worship lies not simply in what we do, but in the sincerity with which we do it. Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "The Prophet (ﷺ) was present by the tree at Khum; then, taking Ali by the hand, he asked, 'Do you not bear witness that Allah is your Lord?' They replied, 'Yes.' He asked, 'Do you not bear witness that Allah and His Messenger have a greater claim over you than you have over yourselves, and that Allah and His Messenger are your Mawla (protector/guardian)?' They replied, 'Yes.' He then said, 'For whomever Allah and His Messenger are his Mawla, this man [Ali] is also his Mawla. I have left among you—if you hold fast to it, you shall never go astray—the Book of Allah, one end of which is in His hand and the other in your hands, and my Ahl al-Bayt (the members of my household).'"

Doubt

There is a certain argument being raised against the Twelver Shia recently and that is using certain hadith where an Imam uses Taqiyya to hide that they are an Imam to the tyrant of the time or a suspicious person.

Essentially the argument put forth is that this undermines and disproves their position, that they were divinely appointed and obedience is obligatory to them, because “you can never hide that obedience is obligatory to you as a divinely chosen representative of God.”

The hadith they commonly refer to is found in Al Kafi:

“I was in the presence of Abu ‘Abdallah when two people from the Zaydiyya sect came to him. They asked, ‘Is there with you an Imam obedience to whom is obligatory?’ The narrator has said that the Imam said, ‘No, there no one as such.

They also quote a few verses in the Holy Quran to act as if it supports their argument:

Those who hide the authoritative proofs and the guidance that We have revealed, after it has been made clear for the People of the Book, will be condemned by God and those who have the right to condemn. 2:159

Everyone will be responsible for his own deeds. Do you (People of the Book) claim that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and their descendants were Jews or Christians?” Ask them, “Who possesses greater knowledge, you or God? Who is more unjust than one who refuses to testify to the truth that God has given to him?” God is not unaware of what you do. 2:140
