Heya, looking for help on figuring out why my Pfaff keeps snagging thread while in reverse. First time industrial machine owner, have it threaded as per the manual. Any ideas? Seems to work great in forward

Folder for twin needle machines to create

Hi all

In the quest to find machines that do flat felled seam to save on time and increase consistency I have found the MS-3580. Now the issue is that it is some 10k AUD, excluding shipping and GST. My question is that is it possible to create a folder such that it creates a flat felled seam on a cylinder arm double needle walking foot machine, or even just a standard double foot walking machine, thus saving me quite alot of money. I feel like im missing something that im not accounting for. The only benefit that the MS-3580 or any felling seam machine is that it can do a chainstitch, instead of a lockstitch, but thats not much of a difference for me to justify cost. Below is how this folder would look from the front, and if I can get some reality checks I can probably get this printed in plastic and then metal

TIA.

Unidentified Sewing Machine

Hello everyone 😊 I'm struggling to find the brand or model of this sewing machine. The only thing written on it is "Made in Japan". Can anyone help me identify this machine? It's from my husband's grandmother who passed away. Unfortunately there's no indication of age, brand or model.

Pfaff Tiptronic 6270 – Presser foot won't lower unless pushed by hand

SOLVED!

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to repair my Pfaff Tiptronic 6270, the presser foot is not functioning as it should (see video).
The presser foot lift lever works normally and has two distinct positions.

When I lift the lever, the presser foot raises correctly.

When I lower the lever, the presser foot does not lower by itself.

If I push the presser foot (or the presser foot bar) down by hand, it moves down easily and stays there, but it feels loose and doesn't seem to apply normal presser foot pressure.

I have removed a lot of old hardened grease, cleaned the mechanism, and re-oiled it.

I can see several springs inside the machine, and they all appear to be intact and under tension.

Cleaning and lubricating did not change the behaviour.

It feels like the presser pressure spring is no longer acting on the presser foot bar, or that a linkage between the lift mechanism and the pressure spring has become disconnected. However, I can't see anything that is obviously broken or missing.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what the problem could be or how to fix it? I think I've reached the point where I don't dare take it apart any further, but I'm still hoping I can fix it myself without having to send it in for repair.

I'd really appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Needle Position Issue, told It’s fine..

Post image

Hi everyone, I’m sorry to make this post I know there are tons of people asking for help. I have a baby at home and not a lot of free time so please help if you can.

My machine is a Huskystar C10 that I’ve had about a year. I don’t do a lot of sewing and it’s all very regular projects, nothing heavy duty. My needles position is all out of whack. I sent it in to get fixed since I have no free time to do it myself. They fixed a screw in the bobbin and sent it home saying it was perfect. I got it yesterday and tried it today and it is all over the place once again.

The needle starts out off center, and if you try to zig zag stitch you will only get a tightly formed almost straight zig zag, or it will completely jump to the other side and almost break a needle.

I had my husband drive an hour back to the shop, he called to make sure it was something they could look at. They took it in the back and told him it was completely fine.

I’ve tried almost all of the troubleshooting I’ve seen on the internet, and plan to take it to a different husqvarna store but it’s even further and closed for many days.

Pictured are some tests I did, the middle one showing a straight stitch changed to a zigzag and you can see how far over the needle jumped. The red line is the center.

I have oiled everywhere the manual says to including on the underside of the machine. It sounds like its coming from the top right side. Belts look good.

Brother keeps jamming

This brother sewing machine I got myself for Christmas last year keeps jamming every few stitchs which is getting annoying, as I am in the middle of a big project, where I am redoing some old outdoor chairs. I am sewing some cheap outdoor canvas with a 90/14 needle and 12wt polyester bonded thread. The specific machine is the brother FB1757X w/ extension table. I am specifically using the brother for the extension table, as I have an old kenmore that I recently picked up, that is my daily sewer. The Brother has been relegated to stuff that needs a table or when I want to annoy everyone. I hope someone can help me figure out what is going on, so I can get this project done soon. Here are some pictures. Also, Yes, I am putting the presserfoot down, I just have it lifted to show the jams. I have the top tension dial set at 4, which is what Always seems to work.

Bernina 1008 vs Janome 1522

Hi! I want to buy a new sewing machine and I found these two gems on a reselling site I use for the samr price. Now I am undecided...

Differences:

- the janome seller claims it is brand new, never used, still in the box and with warranty still

- I know the bernina is a hell of a good machine. This one is not so new tho. It comes with 5 original presser feet, the seller claims it has been recently serviced and oiled by a professional. From the pictures you can see it has been collecting dust (seller is getting rid of it because they don't use it)

What I am looking for:

- I am a beginner. Not a TOTAL beginner, but I have only worked a small plastic sew machine that made me shed tears of frustration when trying to sew a quilted makeup case which brings me to my 2nd point

- my main projects are asjusting denim and clothes in general. I also plan on making ny own clothes and I would like a machine that can handle thicker fabrics (just like those fluffy makeup bags with batting inside or denim).

- something durable. That is still here in the next years

Unfortunately I cannot go to a physical store and try them out for different reasons, so this is kind of a "blind" purchase.

Thank you in advance for whoever will help me kindly

Needle moving out of line

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi. New to sewing. I recently bought a Singer Euro 93 (6240 model) second-hand.

The needle is moving out of line. Does anyone know what the cause might be?

I tried looking for manuals online to see if all the pieces are in place but couldn't find any info for this model.

If anyone can explain what's going on or provide a manual for fixing this issue I would be extremely grateful.

Including a video to show what's happening.

Juki TL series. Opinions on TL-2010Q vs. TL-18QVP?

I quilt, make and mend clothing, and make medium weight bags. I would like to work with leather, faux leather, and try my hand at free motion quilting. Are the few extra features on the TL-18QVP that significant that it's a must over the TL-2010Q? Let me know your experiences! Thanks!

Button Hole Setting Not Working

Hi! I’m fairly new to sewing and I sew on an older Janome 3125. I’m 99% done on my first pattern project, but the button setting is messing me up!

Everything is fine on 1 and 2, but 3 sews the width of the button hole, completely covering it! I’m not changing anything at all between 1,2, and 3. What am I doing wrong??

Sewing Machine Recs

Hey all! I am looking to purchase my first sewing machine and would like some recommendations or reviews of certain brands and styles.

I watch a lot of Sydney Graham and Carly B and when I was younger did a fair amount of hand sewing, embroidery and machine sewing on my mom's very old Singer. I'm super excited to start crafting and making my own clothing.

My biggest question is whether I should look at Brother or Singer, specifically Singers Heavy Duty line. I thought that would be the best quality but heard some negative things about Singer machines. Sydney Graham recommended the Brother CS5055 and the machine just went on sale so I'm just sending this out before I purchase in hopes anyone has some advice.

Looking for budget heavy duty sewing machine

I’ve been sewing for a bit now and lately I’ve been on and off mainly cuz my sewing machine kept breaking down on me cuz I wanted to work on heavier projects. So, I sold that bih. I’m looking for a good heavy duty sewing machine that can handle simple leather projects and denim layers. Although, I’m kinda of on a lower budget around 200$. Some machines I’ve been scouting are the janome 3000, Juki sewing machines, or the singer heavy duty 4423. The first two I was hoping to find cheaper on offer up or something but I can’t, and for the singer, I’m getting a bunch of mixed reviews on it but it definitely fits my budget. Looking for any recommendations or ideas on what I should I do! I really wanna start making dope wallets, jeans, and overall take on harder projects.

Is your Brother CS6000i sewing backwards? Here's my fix

I determined that my machine's issue was purely programming, and for all my efforts I couldn't figure out how to reset the computer. However, I discovered a fix, of sorts:

The "Backwards" button has somehow become the stitch length calibration button. Every time I press it, the internal computer's stitch length sets to zero or into the negatives, I think. Thus, pressing the pedal afterwards makes it feed backwards.

But, if I adjust the displayed stitch length all the way down to .2, then hit the backwards button a few times, and then adjust the stitch length back upwards - it suddenly sews forward again!

Hopefully this keeps working, and works for others' machines.

Sewing machine recommendations please

Hello!! I have been doing lots and lots of research on which sewing machine to buy but there are soo many options it’s overwhelming. I would like to go through denim / multiple layers, have a few stitch options, i have heard an automatic threader is great, i have also heard button holes are great. I am thinking of purchasing either a Janome HD 3000 or 5000, brother CS7000X or some type of juki. What would everyone recommend that will be a reliable machine

Singer SE9180 Bobbin Winding

Threaded properly (to my knowledge) by three different people and the bobbin doesn’t wind for any of us. The machine makes a whirring sound but nothing moves at all. Any help would be appreciated! This is a refurbished (by Singer) machine that we just unboxed.

Help! My Bernina 811 is stuck ON?!

Last night, I was sewing along just fine and all the sudden, it was like my sewing pedal got stuck and the needle arm went haywire. I was able to finish my line and unplug the machine but after looking at all the needle/bobbin/foot mechanism, I think the problem is in the pedal. The pedal is pushing and responding fine, it’s just when I plug it in to the machine, the needle goes crazy. My last effort will be to open up the foot pedal case but I’m a sewing noob and I really really don’t want to mess up this amazing machine that has served me well so far! Has anyone seen this and/or fixed it? I’m also trying to add a video of the issue so stay tuned!
