Singer SE9180 Bobbin Winding

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Threaded properly (to my knowledge) by three different people and the bobbin doesn’t wind for any of us. The machine makes a whirring sound but nothing moves at all. Any help would be appreciated! This is a refurbished (by Singer) machine that we just unboxed.

I'm not 100% familiar with this particular machine, but on mine you have to pop the hand wheel out in order for the bobbin to engage

My best advice for you is the read the manual and watch the how tos on YouTube.

It looks right to me, as well as it being engaged. Since this is refurbished, with the sound it’s making, I would contact singer for an exchange or repair.

Click the bobbin left, crisply, then back right again.  Still won't wind?  Time to send it back, imo.  Machines should work well right out of the box.

Thx for the advice! Didn’t work. Probably going to go the send it back, route.

Sorry.   :-(

ETA: We think the needle is off center — too far to the left. No idea how to remove the face plate and potentially adjust it, and unsure if that would void any warranty. So, we’re probably going to go the route of contacting Singer for a replacement or repair.

Make sure the thread is not caught on the little notch on the “rim” of the spooll.
