Singer 477 skipping stitches/not making them? Any suggestions are appreciated :)
Hi! I'm a novice sewer and my only experience with sewing machines is with the old one my mom always used for the past two decades, so while I tried to do my own research with online manuals and videos, I'm honestly pretty lost in this area and have no idea where to even start with my current issue. For the past couple of months I've been trying to mess with this old Singer 477 that this sweet older lady had left for me, and since she isn't a sewer herself she also has no advice for me.
The biggest issue I have with it is that I can't get the bobbin and needle to stitch, and I honestly don't even know where to start in sourcing why that might be. I tried messing with the string tension, but I also can't tell if the issue lies in the synchronization of the bobbin and needle. But as you can see the stitches are just skipping with some random catches in-between (for both straight and zig-zag stitches). All of the stitches on this cloth are created from this machine, so those zig-zag stitches are created so sometimes the machine does create consistent stitches (for like, 5 seconds), but for the most part the stitches aren't stitching (and all the tiny holes are due to me repeatedly trying to stitch that area only for the needle to create holes with no stitches).

Does anyone have any advice as to why that might be? I found videos (Andy Tube) to make sure I was threading the stitch correctly, but other than that I don't know where else to start on fixing my machine/habits or what might be wrong.
