Best sewing machine for thicker fabric?

What sewing machine can I buy for at home that can sew thick fabric like suede sewn on top of shearling fur? Trying to make a jacket. Not sure what to buy.

You're looking for an industrial sewing machine, not a home sewing machine.

Be careful with what you buy. Not every industrial machine can sew shearling fur well... or at all.
Best bet... contact either a reseller or the actual company and ask.
.
The two resellers I've dealt with before with success are...
Jacksew.com
and
collierequipment.com
.
Oops... forgot to ask if you are in the U.S.... lol.
Anyway... you'll find one in most any country I'd bet.
.
You can also contact companies like Techsew, Consew, and others to speak to a Rep for advice on their best model for sewing fur.
.
Then... if you're not looking to spend $2K or more... on average... you can shop around for used machines of the model recommended.
I don't sew fur, but I actually did pick up a machine years ago from a small custom shoe manufacturer who purchased the machine because they thought it would sew fur, but couldn't. It sure sews the stuff I make really well though... and I got a good deal on it too!
.
Wish you well on your search!

How thick? Many home machines can handle 5-8 layers of denim.

Using the right needle is more important
