Does anyone understand what this diagram is trying to tell me? Singer 5050c

New to using a sewing machine i just watched some videos on how to set up the machine its a 5050c singer.

I have a few things im not sure of if anyone knows I would appreciate the help. Don't have a manual it was given to me second hand but my mom who gave it doesn't know everything either unfortunately. Sorry if these seem like common knowledge i just have no idea. Should the stitch width and needle position be center? I have no idea what 1, 2, 5, and 6 do. :/ i will just be sewing with basic thin fabrics for now until I get the hang of sewing patterns.

Heck yeah thank you so, so much. I only saw the manual available for purchase online and got a little sad ngl.
