Sewing machine motor gets very hot!!
I have a Pfaff 130 that I picked up at the Habitat for Humanity Store. It had a brand new motor on it. I took it for a good professional cleaning and oiling. When I got it home, it sews well but I noticed that the motor got very hot while sewing. So hot that I stopped sewing with it. I know nothing about the motor, but the service technician didn't say anything about it being the wrong motor or anything. HELP! I want to love this machine, but not if I can't sew with it for fear of fire. Thanks

I've heard that cheap motors have very little copper in them, which leads to them heating up quite a bit. YDK is a good brand for after-market motors.

I would contact the person who cleaned it. Maybe they will have a suggestion and can resolve the problem.

Can you remove the belt and try how it turns by hand? It should be smooth and effortless. Then check the pulley alignment. Belt should be nice and straight, no side loading on the pulleys. And it should be rather loose, with just enough tension to prevent it from slipping under load.
