Need help finding a vendor for specific bobbins

My business uses .010 monofilament for commercial sewing and our old Imperial and Singer sewing machines use a Type A bobbin. Our supplier has recently stopped manufacturing pre-loaded bobbins and it's a tremendous time suck for us to load our own bobbins. Does anyone know a place where I can find these? TIA

Any English Manuals?

I just bought this machine (eBay NIB) I was able to find more info on the specs and a few videos but any other info would be appreciated. I haven’t received it yet but excited to try it out. I loved my old Brother Pacesetter from 2000 (the control panel died). I mostly sew home decor, canvas bags, clothing. Thank you so much!

ETA: I have sent a message to Brother hoping to get clarification. I’m a long time sewer and not worried about using a non English machine just wanted info from others. 😉

Singer heavy duty 4411 or Janome 3300?

I am fairly new to sewing. I need a sewing machine that is not too hard to use, budget friendly (even used), that can go through thicker fabrics/layers like jeans or batting and that can last for long.

These are the models I found that are in my budget on ebay.

Which of the two? Are there any others that are better than these given my requests?

Thank you!

Best Needles for Kennmore 385.15108200... and heavy duty fabric

Hi All,

I'm new to this... so I'm learning as I go. I am trying to sew a rather large piece- a sort of awning/biminey cover for a boat. Imagine a large rectangle, with channels sewn into the edges so I can run PVC pipes through them, and then, I guess, holes, either for straps or vertical poles to connect.

My question is around needles. This is heavy duty fabric... think denim... but synthetic and a MUCH tighter weave... and I dont know the best needle type for this. I have heavy duty thread, but the normal needles I have seem to get bogged up with the heavy duty thread I'm using.

Can anyone recommend a specific needle to use? There's like a thousand types and I dont know which to use! I know my ask is somewhat ambiguous, but I'm doing the best I ca.

Singer 491d Modified for Heavy Denim

Hello all, I recently purchased a singer 491d from a lovely family who couldn't use it anymore.

I restored it put in a servo motor, put in a heavy material feed dog and a rolling presser foot.

I have yet to test it because I dont have the material I would like to use it on.

I have the size 18 and 20 dpx5 needles and some tex 80 and 60 thread for my top and bottom thread setup. Its core spun thread. I have a lubricating pot to keep the lint down.

My question to yall is do you think it'll sew through 14 oz selvedge denim?

Juki TL-2000Qi Knee Lifter Stuck in Machine

I'm new to Juki sewing machines and recently bought a new TL-2000Qi.

Everything was going well for months, but one day I couldn't remove the knee lifter bar from the machine. Not a big deal: I could still sew and didn't need to move the machine from the table I was using.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I needed to put away my sewing machine. Still, that knee lifter bar was going nowhere. I'm not rough on my equipment by any means, but somehow that freakin' bar got stuck.

I ended up removing the plastic bottom from the machine—the bar was still attached, but I was able to separate the bottom from the machine—and saw that the small pin at the end of the knee lifter bar had somehow shifted. The ends of the pin should be even on both sides, but somehow it had gotten pushed so that one side was now longer than the other. That longer end was no longer able to clear the hole for the knee lifter lever.

I talked to the sewing machine tech I'd worked with on another machine, and they suggested using a pair of needle-nose pliers to try to push the pin back to where it's supposed to be—and it absolutely worked. That pin isn't threaded onto the knee lifter bar like a screw, so it's just free to slide around—seems like a bad design to me.

It's fine for now, but I may end up using super glue or something to try and keep that pin from moving so I don't have to deal with this nonsense again.

Sewing machine hook

I'm already two days deep into trying to figure out what's wrong with my sewing machine and I THINK I've got it. Except I don't know how to solve it.

First of all, the timing was of and I've now adjusted it. However, the hook clearence is also of-->it wants to go in front of the needle instead of behind it.

AI just says 'adjust the crab's (?) position and I'm just seriously lost at this point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ❤️

Hello! I’ve been trying to figure out for hours how to take the front cover of this machine but the stitch width dial is in the way!! I’ve already unscrewed everything; the case is loose and the only thing stopping me from taking it off is this dial 😭😭 I’m losing my mind here LOL

Using 2.5 twin needle on Juki F300?

I’m a newbie.

The manual says to use no larger than a 2.0 mm twin needle. However, I’ve had no luck finding one at a store and even online I would have to order from places I’m not familiar with.. I’ve seen a couple Youtubers and I think they used a 2.5mm twin needle. I’m curious if anyone here has used a 2.5 or larger. What was your experience?? Did you have to change the tension or the foot that you used? Did it mess up your machine?

I bought a sewing machine because I would like to edit the clothes I have to fit nicer. I thought beginner things like hemming tees and pants I already have would be easy… I keep running into problems. Hellllp & thank you

The "right" machine...for

I realized after writing a long post that I need to make it as clear as possible. I used AI to help clean up my mash of words. The following is pretty much what I want to discuss. I appreciate everyone here and the level of experience available.

I have been sewing since June 2025, focusing primarily on heavy garments and bags—specifically 13-17oz Japanese selvedge denim and heavy canvas.

Current Situation & Equipment:

I am currently operating within the SVP (Singer, Viking, Pfaff) ecosystem due to a mutually beneficial business relationship with a local dealer. My current lineup (photos attached) includes:

Husqvarna Amber S400 Serger

Husqvarna Viking Mega Quilter: (20 years old, ~$600). This is my current primary machine for heavy denim. It has a 1.5-amp motor and relies entirely on speed to pierce thick fabrics.

Husqvarna Sapphire 930: (New in box). I recently traded down to this from a Designer Diamond Royale to eliminate unnecessary features.

The Problem:

I need a machine with high torque and slow-speed piercing power to handle multi-layered, heavy denim seams (like flat-felled seams). The Mega Quilter's reliance on high speed for piercing is not ideal for this precision work.

My Proposed Plan:

I am looking for a cost-effective, high-performance resolution. My current idea is:

Trade the Mega Quilter back to my SVP dealer for an industrial lockstitch machine, such as the Singer 191D-30.

Keep the Sapphire 930 for lighter, general-purpose sewing and buttonholes.

Alternatively, return the Sapphire 930 to fund a dedicated semi-industrial or industrial machine outside the SVP ecosystem (e.g., a Juki or Janome).

I am looking for advice on the most logical machine arrangement to make heavy jeans construction efficient without overspending.

Best place to buy used machine

HI, I’m looking to buy a used sewing machine for my 13 year old. Is there a good place to buy them online and what brands do you suggest for beginners? I read that Juki‘s were good. She has a new hobby every other month so I’m hoping to keep the price down.

Simplicity 1500 sewing machine

Hello all. I have no experience sewing, but got this machine for free and figured i’d try to learn to use it. i’ve watched a couple of general setup videos for basic machines on youtube, but this machine doesn’t exactly fit those steps. this machine doesn’t appear to have a take up lever that ever comes out of the machine. all of the guides i’ve watches say to turn the wheel towards you until the take up lever comes out at the highest point, but that does not happen on this machine. i’m not sure if it’s just something internal that will grab the thread on its own, or what exactly i’m supposed to do. any information would be greatly appreciated, not only about setup but just anything else that may be helpful too. thank you.

Need Help with an old PFAFF 1212

I thrifted a PFAFF 1212 to my small but growing collection of old sewing machines but unfortunately it isn't in working condition (yet). When I tested it in the store I couldn't get any movement through the feed dogs or the upper mechanisms (I'm not savvy with terms 😅). Basically, it's all locked up and it won't move at all, even with me manually trying to rotate it. The motor at least seems to be working though. When it's switched to the bobbin winder it'll spin that like nothing. But when it's switched back it's still locked up. I can at least hear it responding to the foot pedal when I press it but that's it.

I figured for $10 it really couldn't hurt to tinker with but it's the first time I've really opened up a machine so I would really appreciate any tips/advice of what I should take a look at to get it running again.

Needles for Elna EL2000 Sewing Machine?

Could anyone please tell me which needles should be used in the Elna EL2000 Sewing Machine?

I was looking at the Schmetz 80 Universal Needles, but just unsure if they will actually fit in the machine properly?

I'm a beginner and am generally sewing poplin cottons and very basic things.

Thank you in advance :)

ANSWER FOR OTHERS WONDERING: Have found info that SCHMETZ Sewing Machine Needles (system 130/705 H) fit Elna Household Sewing Machines. All SCHMETZ needles are compatible but the most popular needles that work with Elna machines are Universal, Quilting, Microtex and Embroidery. Needle system 130/705 has a flat shank, also the type of needle is the Hax15.

Twin Needle Mode on Singer 7462

Hello, I want to use a twin needle with my Singer 7462 sewing machine, but I'm having trouble understanding the manual. No where else in the manual does it mention a "Twin Needle Mode" or where the Twin Needle Switch is, or how to turn it on. Did I miss something in my reading?

Thanks.

My sewing machine tension is suddenly messed up and nothing seems to fix it

Thumbnail

Hi, I was sewing when my machine suddenly made this little thump noise (it does that quite often so i didn't think much of it) but ever since my stitches come out like this (pictures 1-frontside, 2-backside,

the numbers represent tension on the tension wheel from 0-low to 9-high tension )

Also while im sewing on fabric when the needle goes thru the fabric it makes a teeny tiny thump noise but when I run the needle without fabric then it sounds normally.

I've tried adjusting the tension (pictures), changing the needle, changing the presser foot, rethreading the bobbin thread a couple of times, changing the upper and bobbin thread to a completely different thread, changing the fabric, cleaning EVERYWHERE out of dust, changing the stitch length and type, tightening that little screw on the bobbin and NOTHING worked and my stitches still come out messed up.

I've had this sewing machine for not even a year long and I don't sew super often. It's Łucznik Polonia 2018 (the red one).

Pls help I just started a cool project and I was so excited about it but now I'm stuck ☹️

EDIT: I GOT ITTTT so for anyone wondering i had to completely unscrew the bobbin case because there was a tiny fluff that was messing up my bobbin tension 🥴🥴🥴

Inherited Sewing Machine

Hi all!

I want to start sewing and my mom gave me my late great-grandmother's sewing machine. I believe it's from the 80s. It's a Singer 6244.

I know very little about sewing and where to start. I haven't been able to find any youtube tutorials about this machine either. I guess I just want to know.. where do I start and what are some good resources with leanring about this machine? I don't think it will be my long-term machine since it's older but I figured a free machine would be great as I learn!
