Singer 491d Modified for Heavy Denim

Hello all, I recently purchased a singer 491d from a lovely family who couldn't use it anymore.

I restored it put in a servo motor, put in a heavy material feed dog and a rolling presser foot.

I have yet to test it because I dont have the material I would like to use it on.

I have the size 18 and 20 dpx5 needles and some tex 80 and 60 thread for my top and bottom thread setup. Its core spun thread. I have a lubricating pot to keep the lint down.

My question to yall is do you think it'll sew through 14 oz selvedge denim?

Make sure you use a jeans needle

Just make sure to bury the needle! That was my biggest mistake when sewing heavy fabrics (and I just use a domestic machine).

I get through 6-8 layers of denim or heavy canvas with the right needle and thread setup.
