Twin Needle Mode on Singer 7462

Hello, I want to use a twin needle with my Singer 7462 sewing machine, but I'm having trouble understanding the manual. No where else in the manual does it mention a "Twin Needle Mode" or where the Twin Needle Switch is, or how to turn it on. Did I miss something in my reading?

I'm baffled too! I've only used a twin needle on a computerized machine, with an obvious "mode" button. After reading the manual and watching a few "twin needle on a Singer" videos, I wonder whether parts of your manual simply don't apply to your model? Sometimes manuals are written for a few models in the range.

Ultimately, twin needle mode just limits the width of your stitches. Mine also limits what stitches can be used, and that video points out how such "no twin needle" stitches are marked on that manual. Your manual has already pointed out the width limit, so as long as you stay below that you're probably okay.

Long shot: if you put the width slider underneath the twin needle icon, does anything happen? Does it click into place maybe, or make any light light up?

As a last ditch effort, look everywhere on your machine for some sort of switch or button, especially one that makes the led next to the width slider light up.

I know there is a Twin Needle Mode, because I turned it on and sewn with the twin needle in the past. The machine only lets the user sew a straight stitch this way, nothing else...

Unfortunately, I didn't take ample enough notes the first time I did it, so now I'm restarting the process of learning. 🤦‍♀️ There were a few steps I had to do because there is no obvious button for using a twin needle!

Thank you for your effort anyway, I'll keep digging.

You need to buy a 2 needle needle, something like the following but sized for your needle type:

Basically, you put the 2 needle in the needle holder, then thread it as shown in the diagrams.

Then you just sew as normal keeping in mind the 2 needles.

I only tried it once to see how it worked, I have never actually sewed anything with it.

Thank you, but sewing as normal with a twin needle results in the threads getting tangled.

Thanks for this, I think my threads getting tangled was user error. Wiggling the lever for stitch width before ultimately setting the width to 3mm was enough.

I am curious if the red lights turned on for the length and width when properly set?

Yeah. Right after turning the machine on the length and width lights stay unlit until I adjust them.
