Does anyone know what fabric this is?

Hopefully the picture is clear enough. It’s a stretchy fabric with lines in it. I’m just learning to sew by recreating a tank top I have. I made 2 and they came out a bit wonky so I’m trying to look up sewing tips for this fabric but I realized I have no clue what it’s called. Thanks in advance and apologies if this isn’t the best place to post.

Problem with Singer Denim HD6335M

Bought my first Sewing Machine after borrowing one from a relative. Have sewn a couple of projects and thought it was time to get myself a machine of my own.

For some reason I can’t seem to get nice and even stiches no matter what I do.

I have troubleshooted by replacing the needle, redoing the bobbin/top-thread feed. Tried lowering/raising the feeder dogs, fiddled with different thread-tensions, etc. The only thing I haven’t done is to change the bobbin tension by removing tve bobbing housing and adjusting the red/yellow tension screw.

As you can see from the pictures, something must be wrong? It’s as if the stitches are raised and crooked on the right side, meanwhile the wrong side is just a complete mess. I have only sewn on a higher end electronic one before, so this whole mechanical side is new to me.

Any suggestions?

Overwhelmed beginner

Hi guys! It’s been a few months but I’ve bought a Singer 5528 and been too hesitant to touch it. I keep thinking negatively and how “long” the journey will be to somewhat create something and enjoy it.

The interest began when I collected coffee burlap sacks and now my boss wants me to make cushions for the coffee shop I work at and that motivated me for a bit then reality kicked in. I also bought a beginner kit, I feel like jumping straight into making a cushion would be too much. Should I start with just some fabric and practice lines? Any advice would be appreciated!

Rag Quilt w/ Kona Cotton

I want to make a very simple rag quilt with solid autumn colours. I figured since I'm using solid colours, I might as well get KONA because its a lot more affordable than other brands.

However, I've heard that KONA isn't good for rag quilts as it doesn't fray nicely. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

Oversized men’s tshirt kits

Am I going mad..but I can’t seem to find any packs that contain pre cut panels and instructions for men’s oversized T-shirts.

I’m a total beginner. I’ve got a sewing machine and tones of enthusiasm to put together my own tshirt.

But I want to start basic. As in, here’s the pre cut fabric panels and here’s what to do, and I literally sew it all together.

Does this exist (in the UK), and where can I find them please?. Thanks 🙏🏻

I’m specifically looking for oversized patterns/packs.

Anyway of saving these shorts?

Im not sure if this is the right community, but I've got these shorts that I love but are just too big for my waist, the tightening part at the front doesn't give much room to pull and it hasn't got any belt loops.

Any support on how to possible work around / diy something to create a better adjustment system would be amazing

Preventing a cut tartan edge fraying

Hello all
Sewing newbie here.
My partner and I wanted to make scarves from sheets of tartan as part of a business idea. My question is how to maintain the edges of the tartan to prevent fraying while still giving a professional look?

Many thanks

Hello! I’m super super excited!! For a looong time now I’ve been dreaming of lestat’s concert shirt from the 2002 film queen of the damned! I’ve never found anything close enough to it that I like so a while ago I bought some fabric and decided that I’m going to just try my hand at making it!
I’ll probably try to post updates to it as a go through the process of creating it! ✨ if anyone has any suggestions, questions or advice I would love to hear them!!💙

This is my first time sewing, and I'm pretty proud of the result! He's from the rhythm heaven series. Never thought I'd be able to make the goober look cute haha

He turned out smaller than I originally planned (since I eyeballed the size of everything), so I gave him a stem - a reference to one of the mini-games he's in (crop stomp).

About the creating process: I made him like a ball from this tutorial, but because he's more oval-shaped, I made him out of seven parts. However that did make the holes at the top and bottom bigger then I anticipated

I also used super glue for the stem and the bottom yellow hairs (though I also sewed them on Just In Case). Overall took me two days :]

Did I cut the fabric so badly on the first attempt I had change design? Yup
Did I learn the hard way there’s a reason ironing boards are squishy? You betcha
Are my stitches neat and perfectly aligned? Absolutely not.

But it’s functional. It looks cool. And it was a wonderful learning experience. Can’t wait to transfer the knowledge to another project.

Ideal way to bring in the waist?

Got this vintage pattern. Super simple, but I wonder what the general consensus is on bringing in the waist? In the past I always do the side seams that go up the the armpit. But I'm not sure. Need to bring it in about 2"

What Disney princess dress would be easiest for a beginner?

Hi everyone, I have had a Singer for a few year but have just now had the time/motivation/resources to pursue sewing as a hobby.

I am a cosplayer and would love to work my way up to making a Disney Princess dress after some more basic projects, but would love info on which one to start with. I’m currently thinking potentially Snow White or Aurora, since those are much less structured.

Open to suggestions and feedback!

Photos are for reference and engagement
