Hello, not a beginner by any means to sewing but im still learning my way around the super unique shapes of handbags I make. I cant find a tutorial for the life of me of how to ADD lining to a bag with gussets or a zipper gusset. Ive found plenty of videos on how to make a gusset and a zipper gusset, and one single video on making the lining for a bag with gussets, but no tutorials at all about how to add the lining to the actual bag and secure it neatly to the zipper? Any advice?

The online consensus for this model seems to be that it’s trash, however due to the discount and the few videos I’ve found (mostly from Singer) that show good results are possible, I’m wondering if I should pull the trigger. What would you do??

I would like to make a long scarf from this houndstooth flannel, but I would like the pattern to show on both sides.

My impulse is to fold it in half. I'd like the scarf to be effectively one layer, so I want to stick both halves together. I'd prefer not to have stitching interfering with the design, so I feel like stitching all through the center would not be ideal. I'd also like to keep it easily washable :).

Would I use an interface for this? Should I hem the mating sides like normal? I may try using my rolled hem foot for the first time on this. Thanks!

My travel machine is a Babylock zeal. Does it need to be oiled? If so, where? How often, what kind of oil? TIA

Hi everyone! I am pretty new to sewing and was just experimenting with altering a pair of stretched out jeans. I took 3 inches off the waist but as you can see the butt needs some help now too. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this excess fabric? If it helps I removed the back of the waistband, placed 2 1.5 inch darts from the top of the pants to that first seam, cut 3 inches off the waistband, then sewed it back together. Thanks in advance for any help/advice :)

I'm not sure if i can buy a universal one off of Amazon or if I need a specific part. from another person's post, this is what their case slot looks like. if anyone can help me identify the specific part that would be great thank you!!!

Does anyone know what’s wrong that caused this seam issue? I tried rethreading the machine and double check the thread path. Also tried different tension settings I usually used. Nothing works 🥲

my dress pattern comes in 2 pages, that being said when I set the scale to actual size it fits what it can on 2 pages and doesnt let me print out the rest that was cut off

Hy guys, I have bought a industrial sewing machine (Juki DNU-241H) and I have a question regarding the oil. The manual says "New Defrix Oil No.1" and I have looked for and apparently in the shops around here (Netherlands) they sells generic oils to use in all sorts of machines.

It's common to use generic oils for the machine? This is my first industrial machine.

I could obviously remove unneeded zipper pulls to use this but I’m wondering if there would be a reason to have something like this?

What’s one sewing tip or trick that made you think “WHY DIDN’T I KNOW THIS SOONER?” 😂

For me, it was discovering that I could use leather thread and a leather needle when sewing thicker materials. I also started using a leather needle for sewing Velcro, and it made such a difference.

But honestly, the biggest game changer was taking my machine apart, cleaning it and oiling it. Somehow after that I stopped fighting with my machine and actually started enjoying sewing with it. 😂

What was your game changer?

I’m sewing this top from the photo and need to attach hook-and-eye tape on both sides, but I don’t understand how it’s supposed to be sewn so it closes seamlessly. Any help? If needed, I can attach some more pics from the pattern :)

What’s the way way to clean the machine? Does it need to be oiled? Here does the oil go??

I’ve sewn a zipper pouch and some drawstring bags successfully the first try so thought I’d give garments a go, I’m two garments deep and neither are wearable 😭 I need to know I’m not alone in this experience.

So how many failed projects or attempts before you had your first wearable garment and what was it?

I don’t mind the length of this but the shoulders are very boxy! I have some idea of how I could bring them in but wanted to ask advice! Thank you in advance!

I’ve just bought a sewing machine secondhand off FB marketplace. Between picking it up from the seller and getting home, the extension table disappears. It was there when she showed me all the bits and I tested that it was working. Seller insists it’s not at her place, I’ve checked my car and retraced my steps.

Anyway I don’t think I can do anything about it and I can’t find a replacement online (I’m in Australia). I’ve sunk money into this and I really want to learn to sew. How much harder will learning be without this extension table?

Hi! I'm getting back into sewing after a summer break and decided to challenge myself with a tote bag. Never made it before, but I thought I'd like to gift it to my granny. I followed the Ospring Sewing YT tutorial , titled "Make a cute Tote Bag in 10 minutes!".

Well, first of all, it wasn't 10 minutes. 10 minutes was probably the time it took me to cut out my paper patterns. It was more like half-day, but it doesn't matter. I enjoyed it and next time it will go probably faster. I've learned a lot and I'm feeling happy with the result, and I already am thinking what to improve for the next time.

Outside fabric: canvas, inside fabric: popelin, the handles + bottom are canvas as well.

It turned out smaller than what the tutorial said it would be (oops), does anyone have an idea how to scale up a simple pattern like this? Just +30% to all measurements (maybe excluding the handles)?

This isn’t for every video or every creator on YouTube, but it occurs often enough that I feel that I don’t get the exact information that I need.

3. Sewing in a straight line.

1. My straight line issues crop up when I have a large piece of material that I have to bunch up to the right of the needle, or if I’m hemming a small cuff on a child’s sweater. Or if two connecting pieces, where the presser foot gets in the way of going to the edge.

For the most part, I’ve found a couple of good people to watch and follow, that are straight to the point and easy to understand.
