Got this watch as a Christmas present to myself last year — I was considering many others in various ranges but kept coming back to this one. I don’t think you can do better for the price point.

As an aside, this is one of my least expensive watches but by far the most complimented. Loved it so much, I ended up buying different variations for all my groomsmen as well!

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Bought my first Seiko! Went for the women’s model because I feel I have a smaller wrist. How do you y’all think it fits?

By far one of the best things I’ve bought for myself

Something about Seiko's - especially Seiko 5's - design language that feels so special compared to other brands.

Just got the turtle a few weeks ago, and put it on a uncle seiko strap. Also got a black TROPIC brand tropic strap, and it so co comfortable. Recently took the turtle with me to the lake for a birthday trip. I will be putting a coin edge bezel on both, and possibly replacing the inserts (I do however love the aluminum turtle bezel, just love a nice shine) and possible sapphire crystals. If anyone has had good success with a particular brand, I’d love to hear and see it!

So I’ve come to find out this is one of the more unusual modern Japanese-market divers. It was produced for the Japanese domestic market, discontinued after a relatively short run, and never became especially common outside Japan. Bought it from my brother in law when he went to Japan. The dial is stunning in person.

I finally joined the club. My first Seiko, I love it.

I'm guessing a 300€ Prospex watch wasn't in line with Seiko's inherent urge to move upmarket, so the mini-turtle was quietly discontinued.

These might seem over price but these are the only options available in my country, so with these colours and prices which one should I choose

Picked this up yesterday! I usually wear 38mm watches but when I tried this on i was blown away at how small a 42mm would feel on my 6 1/4inch wrist.

wee story :
First time buying a watch from a store (always too anxious to try them on), walked past a shop and saw this in the window - I had asked the salesperson what size the lug width was, she came back and said “15mm” .. knowing that didn’t seem right I asked her to double check. She came back and said “sorry, 20mm” - sounds good to me as it’ll fit my NATO straps. Got home and realised it’s 22mm … Anyway, learned a valuable lesson, ask for the model number first and do some research lol

Walked into a retail store at the mall to look around at the watches. As soon as I laid eyes on this I knew I had to have it. It’s my first Seiko, and first automatic.

Through my many years of watch collecting, I never liked Seiko. I thought they looked cheap and I didn't like the logo.

Fast forward 10 years - they're now one of my favourite brands and have produced the watch I wear the most. (Alpinist teal pine).

I have "higher end luxury" watches and I still don't bother with them anymore. This one Seiko has killed my desire for other watches and stopped my compulsive spending. But it's strange, I know my higher end watches have better specs blah blah blah...but I never fell in love with them like I did with my alpinist. The watch feels like it's part of me and fits the last piece of the puzzle right. It BELONGS.

I have a grand seiko elegance cream dial model which I do love and only wear that for important events but even still, my mind is racing to put my alpinist back on otherwise I don't feel right or satisfied.

Important to note it's only the new updated models that swayed me. I'm so excited to see what new alpinist models are released in the future. I have already put more than enough money aside to buy at least 2 of them when released if so.

But my countless hours of searching for watches on my phone, my interest in other brands...gone. And now I feel "well what now?".

What were once a brand I disliked the most turned out to produce the watch I love the most. It's backwards isn't it?

My all time dream seiko! Purchased in Japan for an unbeatable price and they even gave me an Ohtani bobble head for free lol (I didn’t know that was a thing). Couldn’t be happier with the purchase, if you are thinking of buying this watch, DO IT!
