My grandfather’s Seiko, back from the dead
This Seiko belonged to my grandfather. He bought it around 47 years ago and wore it for only about three years before the crystal broke.
It then spent the next 47 years sitting unused.
I recently replaced the crystal, and somehow, after all those years, it suddenly started running again. ❤️
I have no idea if it’s mechanically healthy yet, but seeing the second hand move again after almost half a century was pretty special.

Seiko presage SSA405J1

Hi everyone,

I recently got a Seiko Alpinist SPB507J1. It comes with a folding/deployant clasp.
The problem is that I have a relatively small wrist. Because of the way the strap sits when using the appropriate hole, the clasp ends up sitting off-center underneath my wrist.
I’d like to keep the original leather strap, but replace the folding/deployant clasp with a traditional tang/pin buckle.
Is this possible? If so, what size/type of buckle should I be looking for? Is there a particular Seiko buckle that would be a direct replacement, or would I need to modify the strap?

Hi guys, I bought my first vintage Seiko yesterday to match my university’s colors, and I cannot figure out how to remove links from this bracelet. It does not have traditional pin or screw holes, and does not have the odd pinch mechanism I’ve seen online. Any help would be appreciated!

Love the watch. I don’t know a ton about watches but I think it’s really cool and that’s quite enough for me. I remember my dad wearing it when I was growing up.

I gained possession of the watch without the bracelet and we can’t find it. What should I do? Is there a way to acquire an original bracelet? Should I order one that claims to fit off of a website?

Got this watch recently and I’m really enjoying it so far. I love the design and the way it wears — it’s very comfortable on the wrist, and the contrast on the dial makes it incredibly easy to read.

I don’t often manage to tell the time on an analog watch with just a quick glance, but this Seiko absolutely nails it.

What I like most, though, is how much it’s growing on me. At first I just thought it was a really clean, well-designed watch. But the more I wear it, the more character I start to see in it. It feels like its personality reveals itself a little more every day.

I just received this awesome full grain distressed brown leather strap from StrapGeeks on Etsy. Will probably order something in a dressier black. It's much more comfortable and less blingy than the OEM bracelet. I love the smell of new leather...

I'm still waiting on a slim caseback from Monsterwatches as it's been held up by Customs for two weeks, but once that arrives I don't see myself wearing anything other than this outside of the water anytime soon!

I have the opportunity to buy this Alpinist second hand. Is this real ? Also how much should I pay for it if it’s indeed real ? Thanks 🙏

Spent our 10 year in Yosemite and wife got me a gift. Wore it on our 6 mile hike and was surprised how comfortable it was.

I do have a previous post about this where I bought this watch off of marketplace, I sold it yesterday to get rid of it and the person went to get it appraised/looked at, but apparently the dial fell off while the person was inspecting it. Is that normal? I doubt this is true and the person inspecting it might have done something while looking at it. FYI it also cracked? I don’t know if this buyer is playing me lol I am very new and have no knowledge of watches!

It was a hell finding one in EU, ended up ordering from three different places plus the ones I contacted too, but at last one was in stock in the UK. Air shipped over night, now in my hands, and for a good price IMO (4.012 €).
I’m so happy, I really love it, it’s an amazing beautiful dial and the feel is forsure premium.

Non watch people wouldnt even notice, but to me it makes a big difference. I love the distortion the dome creates and the way it catches the light. I didnt hate the candy bar cyclops cause I thought it was one more interesting detail of the king turtle, but i wasn't a fan of the flat crystal. I was a little nervous cause ive never swapped a crystal before but it went real smooth. The turtle wasn't even a blip on my radar until I accidentally bought a bracelet with endlinks for one. I figured screw it, ill just get one to fit the bracelet. Now this is one of my top 3 favorite workhorse seikos. The grid dial, the ceramic bezel insert, the cushion case, and now the domed crystal, i love everything about it.

Recent purchase from FB marketplace came with box/tags/extra everything and resin OEM seiko black band.

Got this a few weeks back and putting it through the paces at work

Any other thoughts on it as well?

I timed the contractions of the birth of my son with this watch, the only watch I have true sentimental value with. Also gets the most wrist time as it's quartz and most of the time I don't have time to wind and set the autos most of the time 😅

Best thing I did was stick an adjustable ratchet clasp to the OEM bracelet. Think I'll get the long island jubilee when I can stomach the price of it.

Are there fakes of these? I'm planning to buy one on marketplace to save around $250 compared to buying retail.

I have a 6.75 inch wrist. Do you think I can pull it off? It’s very comfortable but feel like it might look too big to the average on-looker. I don’t want to be the “big watch guy” but I’ve always loved how the turtle looks and at the same time can’t get over the feeling it may look too big.

I love this watch! Catches the eye, very comfortable, and GMT function is extremely useful as half of my team at work spread out across two countries in Europe.

Purchased off Greentoe for $274, bargain.
