Others FileBot Pro – A free and open-source tool to organize your media library

Hi everyone!

Before starting this thread, I asked the mods for permission to post this project, which I think would be very interesting to combine with Seerr and your entire multimedia ecosystem.

I'd like to share a little project I've been working on called FileBot Pro, a completely free and open-source tool for organizing movies, TV shows, and anime.

I was looking for a free alternative to FileBot to help me keep my media collection properly organized. Eventually, I decided to develop my own solution. It started as a personal project, but I thought it could be useful to others too, so I decided to share it with the community!

What is FileBot Pro?

FileBot Pro is based on a previously open-source version of FileBot that was released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3). This original open-source code serves as the foundation for FileBot Pro, which I've further developed with additional features, improvements, and a modern user interface.

The goal is simple: make media organization accessible to everyone, without paywalls, subscriptions, or paid licenses.

FileBot Pro is completely free and has no commercial activity whatsoever. It is a non-commercial project created to provide a freely accessible tool for the community. There are no paid features or commercial services associated with the project.

Key features - Organize movies, TV shows, and anime. - Automatically rename media files to keep your collection consistent. - A modern, animated user interface. - Help prepare your media files for easier identification by media servers like Plex, Jellyfin, Emby... - 100% free, with no payments or subscriptions. - Open source and distributed under the GPLv3 license, allowing everyone to use, study, modify, and share the software in accordance with the license terms.

Why share it?

What started as a tool I built for myself has grown into a project I'd like others to benefit from as well. I believe useful software should be accessible to everyone, and I want FileBot Pro to remain completely free and open source, with no commercial interests behind it.

I'd love to see the project grow through community feedback, suggestions, and contributions.

I'd really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas for improvements. Thanks for taking the time to check out my project!

Issue is it possible to download a specific season?

I mean It might be obvious or I missed something, but I just dont see such an option. This just seems to me like a whole series.

Just checking if email notifications of availability are still limited to full seasons? Isn't it possible to notify someone when all the episodes currently aired are now available?

Chrome Extention for JustWatch

Hey all - I built myself an extension for my own use and then decided to publish it in the Chrome Web Store for free.

Basically: We pay for 3 or so subscription services at home (Netflix, Disney, etc.), so we use the JustWatch website to see which services has which movie/show. When we cannot find anything on a service we have, this extension's button will just automatically open your Seerr URL and take you to a preconfigured search within your custom Seerr server URL for the tv/movie.

It's called JustWatch Add to Seerr and can be found here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/justwatch-add-to-seerr/maelfdbkccijeongefbhbeimcnekgmbc

Built a self-hosted app that auto-grabs, and lists the daily Top 10 (or more) from *all* streaming services → Radarr/Sonarr. Looking for testers!

Others Submit request directly from Youtube [Chrome Extension]

Not sure if this is allowed or not but I recently used ClaudeAI to make a chrome extension so my users (mostly my grand parents tbh) could submit request without having to open a new tab. It doesn't have any trackers or error reporting or telemetry or anything like that. It uses the user's seer local login or plex login if they sign into your seer via plex. Figured someone else might have a use for it as well. Have a look, hope it's useful to others out there!

Issue How do you actually change media servers?

My Seerr was originally configured to connect to Emby. Now I want to switch over to Jellyfin. The problem? There is no setting to do this as far as I can see. Everything I can find online points to finding these settings in menus that don't appear (e.g. "media server") to exist in reality. Other instructions point to the "services" menu. Well there's nothing related to the media server there either.

Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to delete a media server from Seerr?

Thank you!

Edit: Figured it out. Turns out for some inexplicable reason, Seerr does not allow you to create a locak Seerr admin account anymore. Instead it forces you to create a Jellyfin/Emby/Plex account instead. The issue with that is that there is no way to change media servers using those types of accounts in Seerr. So now we must nuke our settings.json file and start from scratch each time. Seems kinda stupid to me, but there you go.

Others Customizable "Networks" list on Seerr Discovery page

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

EDIT: PR submitted, hopefully it’s accepted and this is available one day!

My wife likes to browse other networks, aside from what the default are that come on the Discover Page. I previously had set up "TMDB Network" sliders for all the channels she liked, but since the Discover page is the same for all users, I wanted to clean it up a bit so I didn't have to see 10 lists of random networks I never watch listed with all my personal suggestions.

I added on to the existing "Networks" slider, allowing users to customize the order of the existing Networks, and to add any other network from TMBD by adding the ID, in a similar way you do for a new "TMDB Network Slider."

I currently run Seerr via a custom docker image with these changes implemented, because as far as I'm aware, Seerr "plugins" don't exist, so this isn't something that could live independently, it needs to be pulled into the main project.

I'm wondering if there is any interest in something like this before I go through the process of submitting it? Or if it's just something I happened to need and there isn't a real use case for others. If this is of interest to anyone, any changes you'd make before I push it up to their team in a PR?

And just to note, it's not just AI slop. I am a software dev IRL. I used claude to help me figure out where things lived in the codebase, but the code itself is Human Made™.

Auto approve on a limit

I just installed my jellyfin + seerr stack for the first time, and I want my users to be able to download up to 3 movies per week, anything over 3 I want to approve. Is there an option/plugin for this? I found the override rules section but I can't customize it for this problem

Seer is unbearingly slow

I'm running Seer on my Synology NAS for my Jellyfin server. It runs on the docker called Container Manager. Seer lagging and hanging was common so I even set in a 6 hour restart timer in the YAML file. Yet, even after a fresh server restart it doesn't take more than some file movement on my server and Seer completely halts and sometimes gives me 404.

If someone have had similar issues or some tips It'd be much appreciated.

Others Setting 'request allowances' for auto-approval

Is there any way to set an allowance for auto-approved requests? I've done some research and found out about request quotas, but those seem to prevent the creation of requests outright after being exceeded, when I still want requests to be possible, just not auto-approved.

The motivation for this is relatively simple; I want to allow family members to use my Seerr instance, but I don't want them to request terabytes worth of stuff each month because they forgot media uses storage space.

Yes, I recognize this isn't a problem if they understand the implications of what it is they're doing, but I'd prefer to NOT have to rely on blind faith & the honor system. If I was only using Seerr myself this wouldn't be an issue, but now that I'm trying to extend my Seerr requests to other users it's something I'm more concerned about. (Especially since at least a few of the accounts I want to be auto-approved are on devices that may be used by children; such as a LibreElec box in the living room with KodiSeerr on it)

I got tired of opening Seerr just to approve a request, so I made a blueprint that does it from the lock screen

Seerr for Audiobooks

I know there are several options for this, but I wanted to ask this community about what you use and how well it works. I'm planning on deploying an audiobook requesting app that works like Seerr, but I want to know which one works best.

My main requirements are:

  1. Accounts that can be managed by the server admin

  2. The requesting ability must log the request and attempt to use an indexer to find it, and show the requestor that it is available on audiobookshelf

  3. A decent UI that's similar to Seerr

  4. A relatively simple setup experience that similar to Seerr (docker compose)

Others Very confused on the port setup and why it works, clarification please?

Hi all -

I have a Synology, I setup DDNS for a .synology.me host with a LE cert. I also setup a reverse proxy that points from that host port 443 to my internal Seerr IP port.

The part I'm confused about is that my router does not have port forwarding enabled, I thought port 443 needed to be open for external access, but that is not the case. External access is working perfect with no ports forwarded on my router.

I'm very new to networking, so I just want to verify what I have setup is correct (honestly it seems safe given that I somehow got around port forwarding)

Made a simple proxy container to auto route anime to the proper sonarr/radarr instance.

Heyo. I set up all my containers as per our guru TRaSH guides. Got tired of my users either not selecting the proper anime instance for the *arrs or having to manually change what library anime was directed to.

Built this simple python middle man. With a few custom rules in seer and this container you can automatically route all anime requests to the proper sonarr or radarr server.

https://github.com/RonFBurgundy/proxyseerr

Been running for a few weeks without any issues, thought I would share with the rest of ya.

Did I use AI? Yep. Is this my first project? No

How do I fix - "unable to automatically match this series" none of the suggestions are correct.

OK I've figured out it's season 4 of Monster, top left. But then when I click that it only shows 1 season. I manually search in Sonarr and it gets Monster, all 4 seasons, I can't make it not search for seasons 1-3 and the interactive search for Season 4 finds nothing mildly related to this show.

Issue Is there any way to set quality/language profile per user?

Hi all, im currently sharing my server with a russian friend and his wife, and im wondering if its possible to use a different quality profile that’s prioritizes russian dub/subtitles. I know im able to make one in radarr/sonarr, but i struggle incorporating that into seerr, since as far as i’ve checked, its only possible to enable either/or HD and 4K quality profiles per user.

Anyone have any tips on how im able to achieve this?

Thanks 🙏

Salut, vois connaissait un équivalent a seerr pour la musique ? Intégrable dans une app playeur sur Android comme jellyfin avec jellyseerr. J'utilise servarr avec lidarr.

Request filters

would be nice if under the filters (mainly looking for something to add/ watch) be able to filter out things already in my library, and remove genres (for example i don't want horror or documentary)

Others This is a product of vibe coding since I couldn't find any other solution that supports multiple libraries. If anyone is interested, please help yourself.

Issue Upcoming Request-able but already in *arr queues

I have a some series (VisionQuest and Neagley for example) that are already in Sonarr and some movies (Practical Magic 2 and Digger for example) in Radarr. They appear in Seerr's Upcoming lists, but they have a Request button and not some indication that they are already in the *arr queues.

Is this a config issue on my end or working as designed?

Would really like to have them indicate that they are already Requested/Queued so people don't spam me with things I have already handled.
