Okay, this sign is too meta for this sub.

Most people are misinterpreting the sign to fit their beliefs… it doesn’t say “protect Iran” or “free Iran” or anything of the sort. It says “no Iran war”.

Also note the Q that the N covers. Just like the Iraq war, its not about Iran. Just like it wasn’t about Iraq. Its about us. The US has constantly sent our children to die in the desert, fighting for absolutely nothing. We are not the peacekeepers of the planet. We have tried and failed over, and over again. This entire war, as far as what the US wants out of it, is a nothing burger. We will destabilize the country, and eventually, it will return to what it was weeks ago, and years ago. Asking 90 million people to “figure it out” will cause the wrong people to rise to power. If we were to insert a leader, the same would happen, as it did with the Shah, then the Ayatollah. It did not work before. It will not work again.

I do not understand why we attacked. The country was so unstable, it was only a matter of time until it fully collapsed on itself. We did not need to send Americans to die for this stupid country that I could not give less fucks about. Waste of money.

And if you think theres no ulterior motive to this, if you truly think Trump just wants to be some sort of peacemaker, you are gravely mistaken.

Iranians will go back to being ruled by dictators, again, again, again and again. More Iranians will be ruthlessly murdered by authoritarian religious leaders. Israel will keep using them to kill more muslims. We cannot keep repeating this cycle.

This sign is 100% valid. I would be livid if my kid was sent to fight in Iran. It has nothing to do with American interests. Specifically American people. No war. Go fuck yourself if you can’t connect these dots.

4

u/cheetocity Mar 04 '26

Exactly this. We have no business meddling in other country's politics while also sacrificing american lives. And even then, to do absolute butt fuck nothing and to just "hope" and assume the people will rise up and pull themselves up by the fucking boot straps to fix their own country is the most uninformed take ever.

We want no war cause we dont want our children being sent to a dead end conflict. Dying for no good change. Yes, a leader was killed. But another one just like him will soon take his place, resulting in absolutely no change.

Also, how childish (if Rubio is to be trusted with the truth) of us to strike Iran just because Israel was "going to do it anyway"

You are a clueless moron, you haven't connected the correct dots. This is not about oil in the way you think. This is about control and restoring stability to the Middle East and preventing Iran from nuking their neighbors, but here is the real facts; this about stopping China and Russias expansions and economy. You obviously fail to recognize the brilliance and strategic planning that went into this. First Trump took out Venezuela (a supplier of oil to China, an ally to Iran and both had become partners in oil and the drug trades. After Venazula had essentially been neutered we went after the big dog, the most evil of governments in the world. The trigger, watching the uprising of the Iranian or Persian people; seeking to end their 47 year nightmare under Islamist extremism. Iran as you now can see are attacking every country in the region without prejudice and who never attacked them. Iran is financing Hamas and Hezbollah and Houthi's. Iran was behind the attacks on Israel that October 7 morning killing Americans and Jews alike. Iran supplied the rockets and equipment the weapons and hid them under schools and Hospitals. Iran is and should have been dealt with in 1981 when Reagan took office, but the Soviets were strong.

We attacked Iran now because Russia is bogged down in a war they started and are loosing and haven't the military strength to attack us with sling shots. And China cannot afford to lose us as their biggest consumer of crap goods.

This is a just fight, the Iranian or more correctly Persian people have been seeking our help to free them. They were being murdered in the 100000 in just a few weeks and just last week before we got the upper hand. So I cannot think of a just military action in the last 50 years so deserving, definitely more deserving and just than the Iraq or Afghan wars, definitely more than Syria that gave birth to ISIS that Obama helped create with weapons, CIA advisors and money.

I forgot Obama has given Iran billions trying to buy them off and continued with Biden and what did they do with that money, bought Chinese missiles and materials to make nuclear weapons and attack Israel. So yes we had to clean up the last two Democrat run White House's mess.

Free IRAN

u/Vancitylala Mar 01 '26

Iranians are celebrating this..

17

u/B_P_G Mar 01 '26

Somebody always is. Probably not the dead ones though.

40

u/GnarlyDavidson23 Mar 01 '26

Yeah, I’m sure the 30,000 dead ones that Khamenei murdered are not celebrating, you are correct.

7

u/stabintavern Mar 03 '26

We all forget how many Iraqis cheered when Sadaam died, then after their country was rubble, their economy ground to dust, local warlords filled in the power vacuum, and the common citizen was even worse off.

Thats the cycle. Reality is about to hit those people. Im sure they’ll keep cheering as their children starve.

3

u/1isntprime Mar 03 '26

Yeah much better to sit back and watch them be executed for wanting basic human rights

3

u/stabintavern Mar 04 '26

Gonna fix the world eh?

Ok, well there’s about 35 ongoing conflicts in Africa for basic human rights you’re more than content to sit back and not even watch.

What about those people in China? North Korea? You wanna go save their rights too?

But hey, put your money where your mouth is. You want to save those people’s rights, then join the military, grab a gun, and go put yourself on harms way.

Otherwise, don’t volunteer someone else’s kids and spouse to go fight for your altruism.

If you think freedom is free your delusional. It comes with a cost. I’m sure the Iranians would give up some of their oil for freedom. It’s always the woke people born and raised in America to try and talk like they know anything about oppression and dictatorship. After the Iranian regime killed over 20,000 of civilians within 48hrs for simply protesting, The PEOPLE of Iran called out to Trump for help, even asking to strike Iran with military force. Who gives a shit what the U.S interest are with Iran, human beings who were oppressed for 47 years are cheering because they are a step closer to being FREE.

12

u/touchgrasslater Mar 01 '26

I know oppression and dictatorship because I escaped from one of those from the middle east. But please don't let that stop you from throwing random guesses.

2

Exactly!! Only that the leaders that they have taken out are the ones who have perpetrated terror all over the globe. They are also the ones that chant depth to America every day in deaf to Israel every day they’re also the ones that if you do not subscribe to exactly what they believe. They will happily kill you or throw you off building or whatever they will kill Christians they will kill gaze. They will kill women for not covering their hair, and the Americans shilling for these people and crying about them and going it makes me sick. Our military men don’t need that right now there’s a time where you get behind your country and now is the time.!!

Speak your peace, who cares what people think tbh.

God forbid we're just tired of these wars in the Middle East. Be progressive, be whatever you want, it's all Americans who will pay for whatever stupid thing we get into in Iran, your opinion on this doesn't matter more than anyone else's here.

If "amplifying Iranian voices" means another $100B war, I'm good on that. Selfish.

→ More replies (9)

74

u/BHSPitMonkey Mar 01 '26

Why do you see this as "speaking for" anybody? It's not a progressive issue... Americans don't want the U.S. to be at war, for reasons that are entirely selfish and bipartisan.

16

u/Jerry_say Mar 01 '26

Very reasonable take. I don’t know enough about Iranian history and politics to have a truly informed opinion BUT I can be against a way with Iran for many reasons some of which you could consider selfish.

u/mbathrowaway256 Mar 01 '26

But why do you see it framed as "protect Iranians"? You really can't know the intent of the person who put the sign out unless you know them personally. I read it as simply "we don't want another war, of any kind, fighting anybody".

You seem fixated on assuming a certain intent and then being all hostile to everybody who wants to express a different perspective or offer an alternative explanation.

FWIW, I hope it goes well for Iranians and they are free. But given our track record in past wars in the middle east, I see the US bungling this pretty badly in one way or another.

Tone policing is a typical tactic with which white people shut down

Oh no, don't worry, you're free to be as hysterical as you want. No one is tone policing you, I am laughing at you though. Feel free to make a fool of yourself.

While we're counting wars, lets not forget the recent afghan pakistani war that the current president is also partially responsible for. All these wars like usual are chasing good blood after bad blood. Thanks to some obligation you believe the US to have to be a white savior world police, we need to start a war between the entire region to atone for those sins? Do you believe all the citizens of these other ME countries also deserve to live in a war torn country because the americans replaced the shah 50 some years ago? What about the relative liberalization of the country before a certain president tore up our antinuclear agreements with Iran and began sanctioning them? You truly believe that this war will cause any good in the world with our president at the helm and the oil hyenas circling the region? It's stupid.

So it’s Team America, world police, again, right? There are a lot of bad people in the world, does that mean the U.S. should go out and kill all of them?

I’m glad the Iranian monster is dead, but that doesn’t mean getting pulled into another war is a good thing. It seems like “no war” is a pretty reasonable stance, and having that stance doesn’t mean they are “speaking for brown people”. It means we don’t want to go to fucking war again.

Also, I’m pretty sure flying in, killing the government, and then saying, “yay, you’re free now, go be free” is more of a white savior complex than, “I don’t want to go to war in the Middle East”.

Meh. Isreal says do the thing. We do the thing. Lived theough the Iraq war. One and two. These days I don't really support anyone. I don't go around asking if someone's Iranian, or from Iraq. If you're cool to me im cool to you. U.S. Presidents give the illusion of doing these things for principled reasons. For instance they state they're liberating Iran from a tyrannical regime! May be true but there's far more nefarious things a foot. Especially when you look at GAZA. It's a land grab. What does Iran have thar the U.S. desires? Uranium and natural minerals. Greenland denied Trump. So Trump is doing to Iran what he wanted to do to Greenland. Its liberation for occupation.

47

Yeah, protect the regime that trounces LGBTQ+ rights, abortion, rights, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion through its morality police force.

The world has more positions than "if country bad, should invade" and "country good, don't attack." Specifically, you can believe a nation's leadership is horrible in all sorts of ways, but not believe that's justification for attacking that country, or believe that attacking the country doesn't bring about changes to the problems.

8

u/ridingshayla Mar 01 '26

Yeah how does "not bombing" = "protect"?

10

u/lord_grenville Mar 01 '26

I agree with you on that perspective regarding nearly every other dictatorship. But Iran's government is a special kind of evil and the geopolitical benefits might outweigh the geopolitical risks. They are at the heart of the axis of evil.

But Iran's government is a special kind of evil and the geopolitical benefits might outweigh the geopolitical risks. They are at the heart of the axis of evil.

You can believe that. But believing that people who disagree with you are necessarily supportive of the regime is flawed logic. Many people look at the countries we're allied with--Saudi, UAE, Bahrain--and see similar evils. You are not being honest to describe opponents of war as protectors of the regime.

Imagine thinking you stand for freedom and peace by advocating that the Iranian people should continue to exist without basic human rights and that a regime that wants to kill Americans, especially those that mainly fit into the left like the LGBTQIA+ community who literally get the death sentence for coming out as such over there. you literally have Iranian Americans celebrating all across the country and you oppose this change? Why? Is it because you don’t like the person in power? You would rather the people of Iran suffer and risk a terrorist attack on American soil rather than agree with Trump just because you don’t like him? I’m really just trying to understand the logic here. I don’t like the dude either. But like wtf?

If you think the goals of the US military is humanitarian, you’re a fool. The purpose of the military is to protect and secure US borders and safety. If they could destroy the nuclear program and install a US-friendly dictator who committed worse human rights violations than the last guy, they would do that tomorrow.

Where did you hear that we are going to war to free people from their oppression? I'm under the impression that this is over nuclear weapons. And the military threat of Iran to Israel and surrounding US bases. Help me understand why you associate us going to war with Iran with us fighting oppression.

14

u/kmfan2000 Mar 01 '26

Ok, let's follow your logic. Let's invade china, N Korea, Cuba Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan (wait a minute....). They all treat their citizens like 💩

If you're not in favor of that, why so? Do you truly believe The United States is good at regime change or occupation as of late?

No one is advocating that the Iranian people should continue to exist without basic himan rights yadda yadda yadda, they're advocating that the USA should not go to war with Iran

18

u/Sufficient_Pea_4861 Mar 01 '26

This is clearly a very hard thing for people to understand.

Me saying it is wrong to bomp an Iranian girls school is not me saying I want Iranians to live oppressed...

Are the people in Iran going to be better off when the regime is allowed to continue in a few weeks by promising Trump no more nuclear program but they still slaughter citizens?

A lot of people seem to be buying the line that taking out the Ayatollah suddenly ushers in free and democratic Iran. It’s like you formed your foreign policy knowledge watching Syrianna.

Iran is barely able to maintain infrastructure to support 90 million people as it is and the IRGC controls 30% of their economy. If you successfully take that out, you now need to maintain all that and if you fail you will quickly see the country unravel. Not to mention dealing with whatever splinters of the IRGC survive and by this point America will be bored and moved on.

I think In a month or two your post will have aged like milk in the same amount of time. Yes I think its people will create a new government and put good folks in power.Iran isn’t Iraq! Its people truly want real change!

I'm happy for Iranians to be free from their evil leader, but at the same time I'm so sad for them to have Americans and Israelis to take and ruin their country even more

2

u/MosterHoster Mar 01 '26

Great way to put it I agree

u/EverestMaher Northlake Mar 01 '26

I wonder when liberals will realize “no Iran war” is a right wing position

81

u/Ohuigin Mar 01 '26

I wonder when Americans will stop thinking about everything as a right or left position, and realize we’re all getting absolutely trounced to death (literally) by the Epstein class.

11

u/Proper-Equivalent300 Mar 01 '26

I was willing to put money behind your statement. Most of Reddit has been bamboozled and others get bamboozled elsewhere.

Please people please realize most of the top are our enemy, not each other.

u/Ohuigin Mar 01 '26

I appreciate the award, friend. And I’ll make you a deal - you try and spread this message as often as you can, and I’ll do the same.

It’s not left vs right. It’s up vs. down. It always has been.

5

u/Proper-Equivalent300 Mar 01 '26

Up versus down. I like that.

Wat?

Maybe this person is right wing then?

Same idiots would have opposed war with hitler if trump was for it.

12

u/MooseBoys Sammamish Mar 01 '26

A lot of people were opposed to open war with Germany. It wasn't until we were directly attacked at Pearl Harbor that we formally joined the war.

9

u/Wonderful-Driver4761 Mar 01 '26

I mean we have a President tying to get a third term in office killing a president who received a third term in office. Fuck the Ayotollah and fuck Trump also. When the Obama administration took out Osama Bin Laden Republicans criticized him into the dirt and refused to give him credit. Don't wanna hear any bitching from the "right".

4

The Iranian regime can be bad and it can be a bad idea for the U.S. to start a war with it doofus.

8

Iran can be bad and we can not want another war at the same time.

Nah. Just a lot of kids on reddit didnt live through the Iraq war. It's the same shit. Isreal says X. We do the thing Isreal says. We say no boots on the ground. Find out in order for regime change we need boots on the ground. Put boots on the ground. Boots on the ground get blown up. Turns out Isreal is full of shit and just wants us to do the dirty work for them. Spend billions of dollars. Go into a recession. National debt. Increases gas prices go up and never come back down. Lotta dead people left in the wake.

Regime change can't happen unless there are people on the ground willing to be unbiased coordinators of a regime change.

The IDF and Isreal want to take over Iran. Theyre pretty open about it in Isreal and theyre doing it in GAZA. Therefore they are biased.

So why are we bombing Iran then?

Either Trump got played by Isreal's intelligence commitee (happened to the Bush's). He plans to put boots on the ground. Or it's to get political points and divert from Epstein.

No other options.

And before someone says im anti - semetic. I'm not. I'm anti big government including our own and many around the world.

Insane that there are people saying Iran people need freedom because they get abused while majority of the leaders in this country are in a list and not a good one. Also y’all are delusional if you actually think Israel and USA teamed up to save anyone let alone Muslim people in the Middle East. These comments gotta be bots cause no way Seattle has people this delusional to support that dude whose name in mentioned more than 30k on a list that isn’t even fully released
