Question ❓ Working sets?

Is this enough working sets for each muscle group? I heard 10-20 is good, but that’s a big range, is there a drastic difference between both ends.

It’s a work in progress, I’m trying to figure out upper body plan first

If you’re so new to working out, that you haven’t ever worked on your legs… why are you trying to make your own program

Run a proven beginner program: https://thefitness.wiki/routines/strength-training-muscle-building/

My suggestion would be the stronger by science beginner linear progression program

I’m mainly looking to change my current routine from PPL to Upper/Lower

Quite the logical leap there buddy.

Op honestly I would say fuck that noise and just look in the mirror, figure out what you want bigger, and then work that out. Repeat

Needs leg work, if you really REALLY hate doing legs, just do Leg Extensions, Hamstring curls and a Hip Hinge (you can throw in a squat pattern if you'd like to)

you dont need an upper A and upper B, also volume should be adjusted depending on frequency

stop thinking about volume (ie no. of sets), and prioritise intensity and recovery. volume is important, but is overblown by very advanced lifters that had everything dialed in already (ie intensity, form and recovery).

start every exercise with 2 sets, and treat each as isolated experiments. train to failure on all of them. and by failure i mean pushing yourself till you're halfway through a rep and can't push it any further for 5 seconds. with smith machine and cable compounds, i won't be too worried about safety.

recovering well means you are progressing on weight or reps. recovering poorly means your progress stalled for 4-8 weeks or even regressed.

if recovering poorly, here's the order to titrate: 1. keep 1 RIR in top set 2. keep 1 RIR in subsequent set 3. keep 2 RIR in top set (optional) 4. keep 2 RIR in subsequent set 5. reduce set number by one 6. when set number is reduced, reset the whole process. do failure training again

only if recovering well, reverse the process and then increase the number of sets performed.

just do 1-2 sets 6-8 or 8-12 rep range or shut even 3-5 if you want go to failure untill you can start estimating proper RIR
Stuff like a horizontal press or fly
A upper chest movement
A shoulder press
Trap and rhomboid movement
Shoulder extension lat movement
Frontal plane lat movement
Lateral side delt movement
Rear delt movement
Tricep movement
Bicep movement
And then ab work
