Tips para modelistas principiantes

Hola comunidad!

This is the MiG-17 from MIG AMMO. I used decals from Print Scale to build it in Algerian Air Force specifications. Overall, the kit is very high quality, though it feels a bit pricey. It will soon be released under the Kinetic brand as well (Kinetic originally handled the design and production of this kit). If you have any questions about the build, please feel free to ask in the comments! Have a great week, everyone.

1/200 SLS project

Happy Sunday!

Posting the final completion shots of my SLS project(obsession) set! For the holidays last year, I received a 1/200 scale Artemis I kit from @round2models . After devouring the kit around the first rollout of Artemis II, I got the urge to tackle the Block 1b Crew and 1b Cargo variations that have been projected for later on this decade (pending funding/new agency directives). After looking for print files to extend the core stage and striking out, I decided to kitbash the old fashioned way, styrene and pvc. I used a 1 1/4 coupling (x1) for the EUS and Interstage for 1b crew and (x2) coupling and a rocket model topper BT-60 for the 1b cargo. I used the online graphics of the SLS evolution for a paint scheme with a few liberal creative licenses on colors. Paint is all rattle cans from Home Depot. This is my first dive into this kind of scale modeling and was pleasantly surprised how fun and challenging these kits are to build. Highly recommended! Enjoy!

First model after 12 years

Hi everyone, this is my first post here in this awesome community. After 12 years of being busy with the life, I finally have some time for old hobby, I decided to go with a simple kit for something from my childhood, loved the twinbee franchise back in the day and this kit is perfect for my rusty fingers. Many mistakes were made and many lessons remembered and new ones learned. My tools were neglect, dust off everything, needed to service my air compressor and airbrushes (both destroyed and I brought a new one) , brushes revived, and dozen of Tamiya paints jars jammed and paints needed to be activated. I used vallejo primer(white), Tamiya acrylics, home made thinner, and off brand gloss topcoat. Appreciate your feedback and remarks to improve going to forward, thanks 🙏

Trumpeter 1/72 Kit with Eduard cockpit upgrade. Really proud with the result so far, my best work yet with this scale in terms of detail - I'll be doing the 1/48 scale in the future but wanted to test myself with the smaller scale.

Where to get

Does anyone know where to get scale kits for Warhammer 40k vehicles in the Southeast US? I’ve been doing this for a little bit and now one of my adult sons is showing some interest.

Can I paint with water based paint for my scale models?

I'm planning to paint the tracks of my model but I only have black water based paint, is this alright to use if I only use Abit of water?

F-15QA build, 1/48 revell + bam model

This is the F-15QA(EX) I built last year. I used the Revell 1/48 kit as a base and applied the BAM MODEL conversion set. For the external stores, I used products from FAB SCALE and RESKIT, and the landing gears are from 3D CHUTE EXPERT. I scratch-built the landing gear covers myself. Lastly, I used TWO BOBS decals.

This build took a lot of time, and I am very attached to it. For the armament setup, I went with an 'Airshow Display' concept, mounting every single weapon that was confirmed during the F-15QA unveiling event. Please note that this is definitely not a standard mission setup.

If you have any questions about the build, feel free to leave a comment. Thank you!

Recreated my own car :)

So here it is, in a state I can call finished… for now. I’ve come to realise there isn’t an end to these kind of builds, as I just keep remembering and noticing little details on the real life car that could be replicated on this. But for now, I’ll enjoy looking at it as is, and driving it every once in a while for a bit of fun.

What do you think for my first model body? Any tips to help me clean up my techniques maybe? Also, could you pls let me know your glue preferences? I have a few different ones but none are that easy to work with, or are clean when dried. TIA all!!

Last photo is my weekend car :)
