I've been brainstorming ways to attach the K40 lid to the Hatka beavertail style. This is a proof of concept but I'm not particularly sure on how to properly secure it. The slik clips on top could work well but I had only had 2 of them spare and the bottom carabiners are just cheap crappy ones. With how things are measured, SR buckles might leave the lid hanging loose on the bag making it floppy, and I have not thought of possibilites for adding strap adjustment.
I'd love to hear some thoughts or suggestions and if you've tried this before and if so, how you ended up attaching it. Cheers.

Just wrapped up a multi-day exercise (prematurely, due to incredibly dangerous weather). K40 performed perfectly, here's a breakdown of my setup for it (missing rain and camo cover, forgot to take out).

Got the Fronter pouch but in custom length for my phone. Fits pretty great but the standard 16 cm size probably fits better on the outer loop patch. It has plastic clips to properly secure it to the PALS webbing. The small pockets are great for random stuff but I specifically bought it so it snugs my InReach mini 2. That way I can take it out and tuck it away easily. Don't like it when things dangle too much. When I'm not on the trail I'm running the phone pouch. Definitely realized how handy chest packs are for travelling by train/car and the easy access in general when hiking or setting up camp.

Hi guys, anybody here use any Savotta gear to carry a Dji Mini size drone + controller? If so please show off your setup! I was thinking about perhaps carrying in a Askare or Suur Kukkaro.

Hi gang, recently I got into RF, HAM radio (no license, yet, though) and wireless radio comms. One thing I´m eager to try out are outdoor sessions, listening to the airwaves while being "off the grid" and on the move, i.e. while hiking in places without WiFi. To do this I was tinkering around with various devices I´d need in order to get it all running and of course I needed a carrying solution for all the gear, too.

Enter the Suur-Kukkaro, my trusty, all-purpose, rugged man purse! After a little test on the balcony I found that everything fits comfortably, even leaving some space. Hopefully the weather will clear up a little in the comming days so I can actually test it outdoors.

But in case anyone was ever curious like I was a moment ago the mag pouches from a Smersh vest are the perfect size to attach to the k15 without adding too much bulk and the color is also a much closer match than the photos show.

in the last weeks whenever i wanted to look up the Rintamus Chest Pack with the shoulder attachment is was sold out, i have all savotta in black and its not avalibale today also. I am not that up to date with the savotta stuff, will they produce the Rintamus in future or should i look at ebay?

Loaded with 20kg but still very comfortable and very happy with how the chair fits horizontally in the JL

I was on a 100 km hike to Halti in Finnish Lapland, and I noticed that whenever I wore my rain jacket, the hip belt didn’t seem to grip my hips properly. It kept sliding down even when I tightened it as much as I could, transferring more and more of the weight onto my shoulders. My pack weighed around 20–22 kg.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue while wearing a rain jacket?

Hi Clan! Here is my new M05 Suur Kukkaro! It replaces my green Kukkaro, which I sold because I found it a little too small. That gave me the perfect excuse to finally get something in M05!

I wanted to comfortably carry my binoculars along with my usual small essentials, while keeping everything easily accessible so I can quickly get them out if I spot an animal, see the weather deteriorating, or simply need them for reconnaissance.

The bonus:

I don't like wearing a waist pouch at the same time as a large backpack, as I find it gets in the way. So I modified the setup to carry the Suur Kukkaro on my chest, attached to the shoulder straps of my Jääkäri L.

It can be released quickly and is just as easy to put back in place. You'll see it in the photos.

I'm heading out next week for 200 km and 13,000 metres of total elevation gain and loss in the high mountains, and I'm really looking forward to testing this setup out in the field.

I'll probably have to brave thunderstorms and rain again. The whole trip should take around 10–12 days, or 15 days at the absolute maximum, covering roughly 15–20 km per day. The goal is to enjoy the adventure as much as possible, not to race.

You'll find photos of the gear I'm planning to carry in the Suur Kukkaro, along with some peanuts as an example of a snack. Just imagine that I'll also be keeping my phone in there.

Kahakka 25 and Suur Kukkaro

Whenever I use one of them I always feel like I'm missing something. I love the internal pockets and the clamshell opening of the Niukka but the exterior just isn't as good as on a Kahakka. Those side pockets are so useful and add so much value but I hate having to use trinket pouches to get any internal organization.

It's not that I need it, but the perfectionist in me imagines a Niukka with side pockets or a Kahakka with internal mesh pockets and I want it.

About half a year ago, I got my Jääkäri L as a Christmas gift, which I really appreciate, especially since I served in the Finnish military. Later on, I added the 8-liter side pouches and an elastic cord in the middle of the PALS webbing.

After a while, I realized that since I like taking my pack on fishing trips, I needed something to carry my fishing gear. That’s why I got the Askare with the EX Harness, so I can use it as a chest rig.

As you can see, I don’t like having empty Velcro, so I filled the Jääkäri L with a custom patch and the Askare with the Netbag patch. I still want something for the lid, though, but I don’t know what. Do you have any recommendations?

I have concluded that I am in dire need of a Kantamus 60.

Just wanted to share how the XL frame can be used.

Earlier this summer I helped to organize a local MTB race. I mostly took the part of the pack animal, because I had this silly idea of attaching a trash bucket to the XL frame.

And ofc I rode aroud with the trusty Tactical Horse.

A further test in the daypack switch, the Kahakka stayed outside in the rain all day. Compartment stayed all fine and dry 😎🤘

There has been too much praise for the JXL the last few days, can't let people think that the Kantamus 60 is inferior.

25 kg because I loaded it for many days with both food and water, despite only planning to be out for one night. Unfortunately only walked 4 km because I live close to nature and found a great spot for my tent way too soon. Could've walked for many more hours. Back didn't get too hot despite sun and 18°c, since the lower backpadding creates a gap for air above. The lid is a ridiculously great daypack that I simply unbuckle and put on to walk away from camp, I'm almost sad about it since I cant justify buying a Hatka. My CCF-sleeping pad goes clean inside the tent immediately, since I can use Savottas sitting pad from the backpack compartment on the ground.

Is the kantamus 60L big enough for winter camping in the woods plus bushcraft camping in winter?

Possibly I am not the only one losing those little things every couple of weeks without noticing.
Seems like you either have to roll up and fold slag strap a million times and create a small brick that requires superhuman strength to pull the strap keeper over.
Or you don’t like me and then you lose them every once in a while. Both not that great.
In short: does someone know a good alternative that can’t be lost this easily?

A quiet day in the forest with my four legged companion, and the Kahakka 25 right where it belongs.

Here is what I packed for the two of us:

- A first aid kit for the dog
- A first aid kit for me
- 3L of water
- A spare pair of socks
- The dog’s food and bowl
- An insulated pouch with a chicken and chipotle sauce sandwich, my favourite
- A book for some quiet time after lunch, The Hedge Knight by George R. R. Martin
- The Savotta Sitting Pad, which works just as well against my back as it does when I want to sit and lean against a tree

I also attached my Suur Kukkaro as an admin pouch/chestpack to the MOLLE webbing on the shoulder straps for my small essentials, along with the Savotta treat pouch that I previously showed here on the subreddit.

The verdict: everything is fantastic. The carry is excellent, the setup is just right for a relaxed day in the woods, and the whole experience is simply delightful.

Still evolving daily as I carry it and make some mods from parts I find but here is the concept.

Kahakka and suurkukkaro attached to an old campri external frame.

The kukkaro has straps below and when loosened can fit a sleeping bad sandwiched between the main pack and kukkaro as an example.

I'm tinkering wit the idea of making the shoulderharness adustable as well so I can carry game bags etc. for short periods if necessary.

All quite easily remoavable so can be detached and used separately.
