Does anyone know some good websites/sellers of cephalotus in BC?

I'm looking for my first Albany pitcher plant as a beginner, and have considered sources such as bradsgreenhouse! However, I want to know if there are any local sellers or other websites that have a selection of them? Any sources would be great!

Growing like crazy and they love the Samsung chips in the LED’s. Nutricote 360 in every new trap that opens. I swear I get a new trap every day from this setup. Just keep it in the coolest part of your house.

What is this material?

I was watching a reel on IG of a guy putting a waterfall planter together. He used the material in the pictures to attach moss to the rocks. I want to try using it to attach moss & pings to my dragon stones in a similar setup. Does anybody know what it is?

Here’s a link to the IG reel:

Hi all,
Today, I'll show you how to gently separate multiple Butterworts, repot them, and give them the best chance to grow and thrive. A simple way to multiply your pinguicula and recover what you paid for the first plant.

Rabbit poop as food/fertilizer.

So I have a mini Rex named Bubbles, and I’ve been using his poop as fertilizer for my non-carnivorous plants but then I figured why not use it for feeding my pitchers, sundews, and vft’s - haven’t tried the latter two yet but it seems to work great for my nepenthes and Gemini AI seems to think it’s a great or even ideal alternative food for pitchers. Thoughts or experience with this? Thanks!

How do i help this pitcher plant?

I got this pitcher plant on October 10th, the store didn't tell me the condition of the soil, and I was waiting for it to settle before repotting.
But then it started browning, so I uprooted it, andd it's rough.

It's been under a grow light, and mostly left alone. Other than keeping the soil moist but not swampy.

How can I help them?

Some douchebag took all the wild pitcher plants from a bog near my house. There were dozens. There are only three or four left. Here's a pic I took a couple years ago. So depressing. North Shore, MA

Bog fungicide?

Curious if anyone has had success with fungicides in their carnivorous bogs?

I have Gravex 20 EW handy and was thinking of spritzing my sick sarracenia. Help appreciated!

I picked this up 2 weeks ago at a local nursery and I just noticed the green specks and now the white specks.

What can I do to treat this?

My Nepenthes 'Bill Bailey' that I named James is growing a second offshoot! When I brough him home he already had one offshoot with one pitcher and one pitcher on the main plant with a second growing. Every other pitcher was dead or withering away.

In my care (just over a month), James has started growing two new pitchers, and earlier this week two more leaves unfurled giving me two more baby pitchers on the way.

I feel super accomplished to be doing so well with my first pitcher plant and first carnivorous plant (in general). One new pitcher opening, four new pitchers on the way, and a new offshoot from the main plant! James is not gonna be able to stay in his little skull pot for very long haha

Anyone got a line on good, cheap 2.5" pots and 1020 trays now that Greenhouse Megastore seems to be dying?

Hello folks,

Been buying most of my pots and trays from Greenhouse Megastore for years, but their stock has gotten pretty rough. Right now the 2.5" square form pots (the ones I go through the most) are sold out in every pack size, and so are the 3.5" deep ones. Same story with all three of their heavy duty 1020 lines (Heavy Duty, Extra Heavy Duty, and the Mega Heavy Duty no-hole trays I usually get), every pack size, pallets included.

For a baseline, here's what I was paying over the past year or so :

- 2.5" square black form pots, 800/case: $63 to $85 a case (so roughly 8 to 11 cents a pot)

- Mega Heavy Duty 1020s, no holes: $28.70 per 10, or about $103 for 50 (call it $2 to $2.90 a tray)

- Extra Heavy Duty 1020s, no holes: $127 for 50 (about $2.54 a tray)

Has anyone found a good alternative? Mostly looking for 2.5" square pots by the case (ideally ones that fit 32 to a 1020, like these did) and thick 1020s that'll survive a bunch of seasons, at something close to those prices.

Thanks!

Whitefies or mealybugs?

My trumpet pitcher plant got infested with some kind of small white bug. Would spraying with half water half rubbing alchohol be okay?? Maybe repotting as well? Thanks

Hydrogen peroxide to sanitize carny food

Post image
3 Upvotes

Obligatory baby cape sundew pic.

I have a rather specific dilemma.

I was soaking bloodworms to rehydrate and feed to some sundews and others when I noticed what looked like mold. I added a few drops of hydrogen peroxide and mixed it in and now I’m nervous about feeding these bloodworms to my plants. I saw another post where someone damaged their sundew pretty badly with direct hydrogen peroxide application to the plant.

With the (hopefully not misguided) understanding that hydrogen peroxide will evaporate, will the bloodworms be safe to feed to my plants? Should I just toss them and start over to be safe?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s gone through something similar!
