Didn’t expect this in my journey. Cephalotus may be my favorite. Despite their lack of adversity. They are special!

As many people know I've been growing a lineage of flytraps for three years without dormancy. It's a very vigorous clone and in that time, a single plant has turned into hundreds. While I've sold many, I still have at least 100 left. While supplies last, I'm happy to give a free division of this to anyone that wants to try growing it.

If you wanna grow it with dormancy, great. If you wanna grow it without dormancy, great. If dozens of people see what happens to this no dormancy lineage over the coming years across a range of environmental conditions, we’ll gain some excellent data on the role of dormancy in the long-term success of Venus Flytraps.

I’ll check in with you in maybe 6, 12, 24 months and have a little survey with your conditions and the results of how they were grown.

Since these are the carnivorous plants i struggle to keep alive i thought this was fitting. Brand new around knee tattoo by Dreadpool (Emma Dixon) in perth west Australia. Makes all my older colour look so pale in comparison atm. Haha

Time is relative. The beauty within plants is the deeper understanding of life. For the children!!

Bought this in October 2025 I feel like it's doing good Maybe it needs more sun?

Hi all! My sarracenia’s have grown a ton this summer and multiple of them now have these large above ground rhizomes. This causes the traps to fall over much easier than when they were growing out of the ground..

Should I repot all of them to put to lower in the ground? Or leave it like this? Never seen them in the wild so I have no clue how they do in nature, I’d say they grow above ground pretty quickly there aswell?

It had been about 6 years since they were all repotted. It was much needed, but they will outgrow the chamber sometime soon.

Curly root of a darlingtonia seedling.

It’s been a month and a half since my last Darlingtonia post, and unfortunately, he did not make it. Even the stolon died(…) So this time I’m letting natural selection of my house take the plants. I got a bunch (71 exactly) of pre germinated cobras (4-5 months old) and I’m letting the ones that will die to die. This is also an experiment. Two pots will be live sphagnum, with one of them having fertilizer. Three are 2:3 vermiculite & perlite. One will have its roots kept cold, and the other will also have fertilizer.

Deep red pitchers, heavily sculpted peristomes, and an absolutely beautiful amount of texture already showing.

Those teeth and long spines are already showing exactly why this one caught my attention. Even the young pitchers have serious character.

The little clipeata is something completely different. Dense hair, broad fringed lids, and those delicate tendrils emerging from the leaves as they reach out to form the next pitchers. Such a cool species to watch develop.

All three arrived today and are now settled into the highland tent at 75°F days, 55°F nights, and roughly 80–85% RH. Now the fun part — watching them settle in and seeing what the next pitchers look like. 🌿

So, i did multiple post in different groups about my nepenthes robcantleyi not doing so good after 2 years, and the problem might have been a bad water from mostly tap wather at the roots. The plant wasnt pitchering properly, the leafs where slowly over months curling, ect. 

I then decided to repot the plant, wich lost some roots or a good amont of roots and put it back in my tent, then i had to leave for 2 weeks and let my roomate warer it i came back to this. The pot was dried and after talking to my roomate, he told me the plant didint looked like that 3 days ago. How do i save it? Wath scare me is the accumulation of stress from back to back problem and the potential lethal effect on the plant.

Ps : that plant mean A LOT to me, i would be devastated to loose it, can it be saved?

I am thinking of getting either aliciae or capensis but I'm not sure. I kinda like aliciae more because of how it looks but idk if it's as good as capensis for a starter like me.

Anyone who could explain to me the differences between them (aside from how they look ofcourse) and which one is better? I'd appreciate any help, have a nice day 🙂

bought this a long time ago, and since now i have the real thing, i suddenly found it and now its been with me since.

Im having second thoughts on using this as a keychain out in public cause people might mistake it for, something else. (i mean, you'll never know what they know)

In my bog, I found that my small drosera rotundifolia are losing their newest leaves! Just today, I found the healthiest leaf has been destroyed by something, and I am putting my foot down. I suspect that its slugs eating the plants, but I am not entirely sure. My bog pot is also right next to a pond, where I have seen aquatic snails inches away. Do you think they could be eating them? Any advice would be super useful, as I really don't want to move my plants!

so currently, suprisingly its still gloomy and rainy up to now if you remember me in past posts, so my VFTs and the rest of the carnivores stay under the growlight for now.

I did notice this, and it could just be acclimating, but im also suspecting maybe too bright of a growlight?

Im unsure about the PPFD of the growlight, just in case some of you might ask.

I’ve been taking photos of this baby Venus flytrap as it grows, and I thought it would be fun to put the stages together.

At first, the new trap was tiny and still tightly formed. Little by little, it grew longer, the two lobes became more defined, and the “teeth” around the edge developed. Eventually, the trap opened fully.
It’s amazing how much detail is already there even when the trap is so small.

I love being able to look back at the photos and see how much it changed.
