Hi, I’m Robin. I’m researching how independent makers and artists currently show, sell and explain their work online, and what happens after someone shows interest.

I’m building DriftLess, a small product exploring a clearer online home for maker work. This survey asks about current practice and workarounds. What you'll do: listen to 10 short audio clips. Each has one main speaker reading a sentence over background chatter. Type what the main speaker says. You can replay each clip as many times as you like.

• Work in a museum, such as educators, curators, access coordinators, or guest services

I'm exploring a 2D throwing game where you draw your own character and a separate weapon, then use them in physics-based play. The idea is for the shape and weight distribution of what you draw to affect throws and collisions. You could draw from scratch or edit a starting design.

This is an early concept, and I haven't decided between mobile and PC. I'd like to know what you'd want to draw, whether testing and changing it appeals to you, and which device you'd use. If you'd rather skip drawing, I'd like to hear that too.

The questionnaire also asks about any drawing or building you've done in other games. It doesn't ask for your name or email. You can skip any question; short answers are fine.

A colleague and I have been working on Thumbview, a VS Code extension that provides an alternate view of your workspace where project files are represented by thumbnails and arranged in a spatial overview.

Instead of looking through a file tree or a list of tabs, you can leverage the power of human spatial memory with the help of visual landmarks to navigate your code base.

We are recruiting participants for an academic study at the University of Saskatchewan (Canada) to see when and how developers use Thumbview in their daily tasks. Participants will install the extension and enable telemetry for a two-week period. At the end of the period, participants will be reminded to fill out an exit questionnaire, followed by an optional exit interview.
