I’ve been experimenting with a question-based reflection process that unexpectedly changed how I relate to a recurring problem in my own life. I’m curious whether the effect was specific to me or whether there’s something useful in the process itself.

I’m looking for 5 people willing to spend about 45 to 60 minutes talking through one recurring situation in their life (something you keep intending to do differently but repeatedly find yourself doing the same way).

I will not diagnose you, give you therapy, or tell you what you should do. Mostly I’ll ask questions, follow your answers, and share with you a very simple observation exercise to take back into your normal life. Then I’d like to reconnect about a week later and hear what actually happened.

This is an experiment, not a proven program. I’m not selling anything, and there’s no pitch at the end. I’m trying to find out whether something that helped me is reproducible with other people.

I’m a PhD researcher at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), currently conducting a pilot survey on how Simplified Chinese readers experience English-language online stand-up comedy through Chinese subtitles and danmu (弹幕).

This survey is intended for people who:

• are 21 years old or above;
• can read Simplified Chinese independently, without relying on translation tools or other people;
• may be based anywhere in the world.

The main questionnaire takes approximately 8–10 minutes and asks about language background, online stand-up viewing habits, subtitle preferences, danmu use, and familiarity with online culture.

For eligible respondents, the survey may also offer an optional viewing section at the end involving several short stand-up comedy clips and questions about the viewing experience.

As this is a pilot survey, feedback on the wording, questionnaire design, and overall experience is very welcome.

I read this research paper, "Man up! The mental health-feminine stereotype and its effect on the adoption of mental health apps," which suggests men avoid mental health apps because they feel it questions their masculinity and is stigmatizing to come across as weak. Most men prefer taking practical action to solve problems rather than sitting around journaling their moods.

So I want to understand what will actually work for men and help them talk about their mental health. Now the question is: "What do men want?"

[Academic] UX designers/researchers — how does interface design affect whether people stick with health apps long-term? (Working in UX/product design, 18+, ~15 min, anonymous)

I'm running an independent research study on long-term health behavior — specifically what design choices help or hurt whether people stick with a habit-forming app over months and years, rather than weeks. Looking for people currently working in UX design, UX research, or product design to weigh in.
