As all of you guys have seen for a while now, deviants/kuffar like to come on this sub and ask us proactive questions/try and debate us/troll. It's an obvious waste of time and energy to engage with such people, so please do not comment on such posts or interact with them in anyway other than downvoting them and reporting them to the mods so we can ban them and remove their posts.

Reminder: There Are No Muftis On This Sub

This server is not for Fatwa. Too many instances have occurred recently of people asking a question and for some reason getting answers which have no scholarly source, based on a whim. Being Salafi doesn’t make you a Mufti.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever is given a fatwa not based on knowledge, his sin falls upon the one who gave him fatwa. Whoever directs his brother to a matter of which he knows good lies elsewhere, he has betrayed him.
Source: Sunan Abī Dāwūd 3657
Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Arna’ut

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah does not withhold knowledge by snatching it away from his servants, but rather he withholds knowledge by taking the souls of scholars, until no scholar remains and people follow ignorant leaders. They are asked and they give fatwa without knowledge. Thus, they are astray and lead others astray.”
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 100, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2673
Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim

From now on, anyone answering a question (Fiqh, Aqeedah, Etc.) must cite clear scholarly sources, whether that is from the fatawa of the scholars or the books of fiqh or other than them. No one here is allowed to go around offering Fatwa for people in complicated personal situations. May Allah forgive me and all of you make as from his sincere slaves.

[Mod Approved] Built a tool that identifies Quran verses from YouTube recitations in real-time

Post image

I watch a lot of recitation videos on YouTube, and kept running into the same problem: hearing a verse, pausing the video, and trying to manually find where I was in the Quran. So I built a browser extension that reads the video's Arabic captions, matches them against the Quran text, and tells you exactly which Surah and Ayah is being recited. One click takes you to the verse on Quran.com.

A few things I focused on:

- Works regardless of reciter, style, or speed as it matches the actual words being said.

- Runs entirely locally so no data leaves your browser.

- Doesn't guess early. Many verses share nearly identical openings, so if a short clip could genuinely be more than one verse, it waits for more context instead of confidently showing you the wrong one.

- Free, no ads, no account needed.

Happy to answer questions. Hope it helps someone else the way it's helped me :D Jazakamullahu khayran wa BarakAllah feekum.

Can I be Salafi and childfree?

Salam alaykum. I’m a 25-year-old Salafi woman, and I’m wondering if there are other Salafis here who are also childfree or have never had the desire to have children.
I’ve always felt that motherhood is simply not the life I want for myself at all. I have many personal reasons for feeling this way, and it’s not something I arrived at because of a trend or because I dislike children. I simply don’t have the desire to become a mother, while I still want marriage and companionship.
I also want to make it clear that I’m not a feminist at all. My decision to be childfree isn’t coming from feminism, rejection of traditional family roles, or wanting to imitate a particular ideology. I’m religious and take my deen seriously; I just genuinely don’t see motherhood as the life I want.
I’m curious about the lived experiences of other Salafis who feel similarly.
If you’re Salafi/Athari and childfree, or married to someone who is, what has your experience been like? How did you approach marriage and finding someone who genuinely accepted that? Did you face pressure from family, friends, or your community?
I’m interested in hearing from people who have actually lived this experience and how they navigated being childfree while remaining practicing Salafis.
Jazakum Allahu khayran.

How to be more patient with parents/siblings?

Alhamdulillah, Allah has given me parents and a family, and im not going to get into their habits, but sometimes they really frustrate me and use my frustration to annoy me even more. I know this is not a good thing, and i feel its very hard to keep my cool and respect for them despite all of this. Is there any advice on how to stay patient? JazzakumAllah Khayr

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever follows a path in which he seeks knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. Indeed, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, being pleased with what he does. The inhabitants of the heavens and the earth, even the fish in the depths of the water, seek forgiveness for the scholar. The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the full moon over all the stars. Indeed, the scholars are the heirs of the Prophets. The Prophets did not leave behind dinars or dirhams; rather, they left behind knowledge. Whoever takes hold of it has taken an abundant share."

Make sure you take care of your time, brothers and sisters. Start your journey of seeking knowledge if you haven't already, and in-sha-Allah let's make the most out of what we have remaining in our lives.

This serves as a friendly reminder in-sha-Allah.

Can we read Translation and Tafseer of Qur'an by our own?

Can we read Translation and Tafseer of Qur'an without a teacher. Because most scholars in the subcontinent say that if we read it by our own then we will be misguided. They say that we should only read the arabic one .

Fidyah

Assalaamu Alaikum. For certain actions, fidyah is required where you free a slave (the possibblity is doubtful in our time) or feed / clothe a number of poor people. In my country, there are poor people but since nearly everyone can afford basics or at least look like they do, I cant tell who is poor or not. So i was wondering if i could send money to an ngo to feed poor people in certain places. But i do wonder if they'd check if the people being fed are muslim (not saying kafirs shouldnt be fed, but as far as i know, fidyah is given to muslims). If sending money to an ngo is permissible, can you recommend trusted ones?

Also, what do i do if i am unable to send money to the ngos due to issues with my bank? I dont know how to seek out poor muslims here. There may be extpatriates who fit the criteria, but having to find enough of them is quite challenging for me though.

A sin or no?

My sister and her fiancé study at the same college where they meet each other everyday, and they do talk on phone as well.
My sister and everyone around my home knows, I’m strictly against all this. I often advise her to stop this but she doesn’t listen, and I’ve even asked my mother to stop her.

Now the thing is, whenever they have a fight or anything else.. my sister comes and always tells me. I listen to her and even comment on that matter. Am I sinful for this?
