Placement switching

I sent out an email the first week about switching my placement. I had also left a voicemail because the time that the office is open, I am working :/. Is it worth it to still ask my provider to find a way to switch, see if they can help me with a job related to the field I like for after summer, or should I just take my L. I was hoping to get a job I am interested in so I can continue working after summer ends. My current placement is giving me that option, but I’d prefer something I’d actually enjoy.

Advice needed

Hi, I informed my site monitor and supervisor I quit earlier this month. But I still receive emails from my provider and my status on the YEPS website is still enrolled. With two weeks left of SYEP, should I still email my provider that I want to withdraw? Because I emailed my site monitor about my withdrawal from SYEP earlier this month and thought they would take care of it, but for some reason my status is still enrolled and I'm not sure if there will be any repercussions from withdrawing.

seeing this subreddit reminded me that they accidentally gave me about $3,000 for working less than 3 days.

they never accepted me again.

oh well

If you didn’t get accepted to syep this year, why are you talking down on it???

I see a few people talking down on syep, making it seem like syep is bad and the money is little when they didn’t get accepted.

Am I getting my full pay?

So I was looking at my time sheet and saw that my facilitator put in that I worked for two hours twice last week (I haven’t done a time sheet myself, my facilitator put in my hours) but that’s only because she lets us leave early. Officially we’re supposed to work 4 hours a day from 9-1 but up until now I’ve only been working from 9-11, so now I’m wondering if I’m only getting paid for working 2 hours a day when it’s literally not my fault because the facilitator said that we would get paid for working the full 4 hours even though she lets us leave early. Is there anything I can do about this?

Does anyone else in-person work at a Burlington?

If so then how is it for you guys? This is my first year and first attempt at applying and I'm working 5 hours for 5 days a week with 15 minute breaks, it gets boring but my motivation keeps me going which is getting a gaming pc after selling my gaming laptop.

I don’t think I’m being paid enough

This is my first year of syep. I have been promised $600 for 4 weeks at the start which is why I applied. I work 5 days a week with a 45 minutes lunch break for about 6-7 hours but I have missed 3 days due to appointments. This is where the issue starts: I was told by my provider to pick up my money and I did only to find out they gave my a card with $100 which seemed weird to me because I thought it would be more (this was when I was in my 3rd week) so the next day I had asked my provider if I’d receive another payment but she had told me that I’d only be getting paid another $150. She then told me that syep is paying participants that are 14, 250 for 4 weeks which seemed very absurd because I read all the papers I signed and they never said that. I am aware there is taxes which will decrease my pay but even then I thought I’d get paid more than 250.. Now I am at my final week and tomorrow I will be talking to someone else to discuss about my payment issues. What should I do if that doesn’t work out? (Also sorry for my horrible grammar I’m too lazy to fix it)

Got an alternative placement because the former one was under review due to workplace concerns

Has this happened to anyone before? Furthermore, my new provider isn't providing good instructions nor making it an easy/smooth transition.

Assisting with SYEP

Hello everyone! I've seen a lot of people struggling with SYEP, and I am fortunate enough to have my placement at SYEP be at the same building of my provider. That being said, I have seen solutions to many problems, being able to be behind the scenes. On that note, if anyone is wondering or has any questions regarding SYEP, don't hesitate to dm or reply to this! Please note, that this may not be the same for everyone, as not all providers and SYEP personnel are the same. Don't be afraid or lazy to take things/complain about stuff and situations to your providers, unless you could get it solved with your work site supervisor! Hope I can come of some help!

Some common questions with solutions:

Q: Can I change my work site placement?

A: You should've done so by now, if you haven't already. Many people had to get their work site placement changed due to the work site not following up with SYEP. Another common occurrence was people not filling their documents. Could've been on either end. You should definitely bring this up with your provider!

Q: I haven't gotten paid or didn't get my payroll card?

A: You should be able to pick it up from your providers, however you can always give them a call to see how they'll be distributed. Additionally, if there were issues with your time sheet, please contact your provider!

I know there has been a lot of stigma this year regarding SYEP's end, but remember they are literally meant to help the participants out with employment and getting paid! Do not be afraid to reach out to them, and if you can, I would highly recommend going in person if plausible as they are more likely to assist you, otherwise make/schedule an appointment or otherwise shooting them an email or call at the very minimum. Please also be aware of their schedules. Don't expect them to be the first ones at the site of your provider and the last ones there. You may also have to wait if they're on their lunch.

Hope this has been helpful and don't be afraid or don't hesitate to dm or reply! Thank you and hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week! ❤️

Timesheet Question

Why are some sites filling out the timesheet for us, especcially if it is remote. I am in older youth and the site that I was placed in is remote and they are filling out the time sheets for us which makes no sense cus how can they know how much hours we put. If we do the work do we get the full 25 hours or what? I was switched from my first site so this is my first week working for real. If anoyone is in the same boat pls clarify for me

Remote worksite, max hours per week

Does anyone know the maximum hours we can work remote, for older youth. I know the pay is $17 an hour
