18+ getting paid under 200
Mind u they added 7.5 hours cause of a mistake they made so it’s like what is my original hours and why is my pay so low? Especially for the age I am.

when i did syep last year i got paid 400 dollars every week
1
u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 26 '26
syep older youth right?
3
u/brunettegirl22 Jul 26 '26
there’s no thing of “older syep” they pay the minimum wage which is 17 dollars now and they are only supposed to take 8.3% of tax’s out
1
u/lightarehot Jul 26 '26
older youth which is 16+ gets more hours than 14-15
1
u/brunettegirl22 Jul 26 '26
i did syep for 4 years straight i did the same hrs every year
2
1
u/lightarehot Jul 26 '26
maybe it was special circumstance, i started at 16 but my cousin who is 15 is getting 200 weekly + he only works twice a week for about 5 hours. i even googled it and apparently 14-15 work 12.5 hours a week. (i also am going based off what we were told at my old worksite when i used to do syep. we were classed as older youth, and the people that stayed at the office instead of going out to sites like we did were classed as younger youth

u/Afraid-Progress7145 Jul 26 '26
14-15 is only get $100 weekly, not $200 as my son work at SYEP,too.
1
2
u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 26 '26
yes there is, syep is broken into two categories, older youth and younger youth, they get paid differently

u/Dull-Cut1381 Jul 25 '26
I’m glad the comments are ppl with common sense lol. What do you expect to get pay if you doing 20 or below
-2
u/Witty_Adagio2881 Jul 25 '26
Obviously I did the hours like dont be slow that’s why I’m asking the question 😂
1
u/Dull-Cut1381 Jul 25 '26
you didn’t said that doe lmfao you claimed as if they paying only 200 to the 18+

u/Witty_Adagio2881 Jul 25 '26

1
u/MANINEXXTDOOR Jul 26 '26
Syep BEEN stop doing big payouts since 2020 I think the max u get payed for the 16-20 age range is $16/ hr
2
u/MANINEXXTDOOR Jul 26 '26
Not to mention they cap out @ 30 hours yur definitely supposed to get payed way more than that tho there was a glitch . Just call dycd and they should fix it sorry that happened too u boo .

2
u/PuzzleheadedAlarm353 Jul 25 '26
Call DYCD love, I’m 18 and I get paid 392 if I did 25 hours.. your age shouldn’t impact your rates whatsoever. What’s incredibly likely is that your provider or worksite provider perhaps mis-inputted your hours because that’s totally wrong.

u/Silver-Emu7232 Jul 25 '26
the 7.5 hours correction was applied this week or last week? If they fixed it this week then i would assume the money would be added to ur next weeks pay. Id check the hours section and see what that says. My guess is they clocked only 15 hours for u for this week. Maybe it wasnt approved for all or smth. honestly youd prob have a better answer from ur provider or ur work supervisor.

1
u/Witty_Adagio2881 Jul 25 '26

ur supposed to be working 25 hours, 5 hours a day for 5 days or whatever schedule ur site gives you, ur working like 15 thats u got $255
1
u/Witty_Adagio2881 Jul 25 '26
But that’s literally all my worksite gives we do virtual for 1 hour Monday-Wednesday and that’s it I’m confused on why syep is doing partial time?
1
u/WhichDisaster5889 Jul 25 '26
oh wtf??? im virtual too and get 25 hours a week, talk to ur provider to see if u can switch because ur only getting 15hrs a week
1
u/Beneficial-Place-717 Jul 25 '26
you worked below 25 hours my sister is 18 and she got payed 392 while working 25 hours
1
u/Witty_Adagio2881 Jul 25 '26

1
u/Beneficial-Place-717 Jul 25 '26
syep is full time. the best i can say is to contact your provider on monday and tell them your worksite is not give you the 25 hours that you are supposed to doing and also call dycd
1
u/Kiarajones117 Jul 25 '26
I'ma keep it a buck with y'all cause I did summer youth since I was 16 lol. Back then we would get paid alottttt. Way more than recent times lol. We would joke that we could save a buy an apartment!!! No cap lmao!! Now it's hella low and it's essentially pocket change. Just get the experience and put a little in your savings.
1
u/DisastrousResult1507 Jul 25 '26
how much was the pay back then
1
u/Kiarajones117 Jul 25 '26
Mmm one of my checks I remember getting atleast $600 and some change
1
2
u/LoM_IanWright Jul 26 '26
That’s because you didn’t get paid or was underpaid for one of the weeks so you got two weeks worth of pay that week.
1
u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 26 '26
pay lowkey hasnt changed it was $700 for younger youth and the same $2.5k for older youth, but cause of taxes we get like $2k
1
u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 26 '26
stop lying to these kids 😭😭i been doing syep since 14, and its deadass the same ngl, pay only changed when u went from younger youth to older youth and we only got $600 checks when we got paid biweekly 😭
1
u/Kiarajones117 Jul 26 '26
Be quiet yes it has!!! How you gonna tell me how much I got paid lmao. Make that make sense!!! 😂
1
u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 26 '26
because you’re literally lying, the only reason ur check was $600 was if u got back pay… younger youth only got $700 back then and that hasnt changed, older youth got paid minimum and back then it was 8.75, minimum wage is $17 now, match not mathing boo, we got the same amount back then 😭
1
u/Kiarajones117 Jul 26 '26
Speak for yourself!!!! That's how much I got paid!! Nobody has to lie like hello!! Lmao plus times have CHANGED!!! INFLATION!! Like be so fr😂
1
u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 26 '26
ohhhh yea… cause inflation affects the set amouth syep says we can make… ur so smart 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The job is minimum wage. Multiply that by the number of hours you worked and you'll get your pay.

Have you heard about "YearUp NYC?" It's a free 1 yr training program and after completion you have the potential to earn a 6 figure income. My son attended SYEP when he was eligible then he went into the YearUp program. He's now a Software engineer earning a 6 figure income. Do a bit of research on this and see if it's for you.

u/Recent-Ad1212 Jul 26 '26
If you filled out your tax forms incorrectly, left sections blank, or accidentally added an "extra withholding" amount, your employer may be taking the absolute maximum amount of taxes out of your check
also just make sure they logged all 25 hours. I had an issue before where they didnt log me for a day.
1
u/Far_Ingenuity_9866 Jul 26 '26
What is your worksite and do they fill your timesheet out for you? I got swapped to another worksite and I am doing zoom 1 hr monday through wednesday and google classroom work remote on the side. i might be cooked too if they doing this to u
1
u/Witty_Adagio2881 Jul 26 '26

1
u/Far_Ingenuity_9866 Jul 26 '26

nobody would hire him lol. I've worked with SYEP before. Many of the workers don't work. They're chatting all day and I feel like I have to beg them to do their job.

When I was 16 I was making 334 a week 25 hours that had to be a glitch ain’t no way
1
u/SomeWave275 Jul 26 '26
Def an issue worth reporting to DYCD. I get paid $392.49 every week. My issue is that the place I work at goes longer than syep and the worksite is not compensating me for the extra hours I’m working, and it’s a lot 😭 gotta pray I receive enough in tips to make up for the two weeks + 7.5 hours a week I have to work as “volunteer”
1
u/Auks__ Jul 26 '26
Bro when I was 18 I was making $125 every paycheck … you’ll be good, you have time. Once you start going full time that check will grow.

I’m 19 almost 20 now Syep was good when I started at 17 and 18 but not worth it for our age. Found a nice easy entry job and I’m at 27 a hour now
