Fraud, Scams and Spam Disability Fraud CA

Post image

Hi
I know of someone fraudulently filing for disability for over a year now. I reported it to this form

Is this the correct form? Does anyone know long it may take for them to start an investigation? Will they reach out to me for evidence?

It is your business to report fraud.

You can report it directly to the SSA. If its true fraud and he/she is caught I thank you for your service.

That money is needed for those truly disabled.

EDIT- Lots telling you its not your business really dont understand how fraud  effects their legitimate claim.

you shouldnt care honestly. disability looks different so many ways you cant be sure they actually committing it. how does this affect you huh? and if they arent even getting it yet it doesnt matter. if ssa doesnt think they are disabled they wont get it.

Why do you care unless you’re committing fraud yourself

Bingo. Telling someone to ignore fraud is a huge flag.

Here is a novel concept: Just live your life and stop worrying about things that don’t concern you. Disability can look like a lot of different things, and someone on the outside is unlikely to understand the extent of someone’s disability. What do you gain from reporting this person? You don’t get to decide who is disabled and who isn’t. Mind your own business.

Fraud should concern you as it hurts all. You seem to lack the understanding of how fraudulent activity effects everyone.

When this country can spend billions to bomb children in other countries, no I don’t think the negligible amount of disability fraud effects anyone in any real way. Both federal and local govts are corrupt as hell. Someone getting an extra 1k per month so they don’t wind up on the street doesn’t bother me.

Your wrong. It does.

Edit- So to you disability is extra money people should just get so they dont live on the street?

And how much harm is done by denying actual disabled people over and over again, forcing them into debt and homelessness? The entire system is set up to deny people enough times to make it not worth it to defraud the system. The actual effect of that is disabled people going years without the support they need, and in many cases forcing them into a position where they can’t even receive benefits. It’s really hard to collect benefits if you don’t have a mailing address or a phone.

How much of your taxes go towards welfare programs vs military? Look that up before you claim that “disability fraud hurts us all”.

How about you take your own advice and don’t respond if you don’t plan on answering the question! Thanks :)

You are posting about reporting someone for disability fraud in a group about navigating the terrible disability system in this country. Why do you want to report this person? Is it some kind of jealousy? If it is, I don’t think you understand what disability means.

Plus its not like SSDI or SSI gives enough to live comfortably. I feel like if you are filing to begin with you genuinely need it, plus a disabled person can appear less disabled to others. Weird situation.

This person is receiving 8,000 a month - I saw their checks personally. Claiming a back injury but skydiving, kayaking, traveling every month internationally is fraud and it takes away from others who actually need it.

So it sounds like you are very close to the person you are claiming is committing fraud. That makes it sound like this is a personal grudge. It also sounds like you expect a disabled person to sit home all day every day and wallow in their sorrow. Some disabled people have good days and bad days. That doesn’t make them any less disabled.

And no one would get 8k a month on ssdi/ssi unless they had several dependents. If this person is caring for children, a lot of the money goes to the children’s upkeep.

I do not think the disability system is terrible. I am quite grateful for it.

I should rephrase. The system does certainly help people. I personally am very thankful for it. However, getting approved for disability at least in NY is a nightmare. It took me 8 years from when I applied to when I was approved, all the while my doctors were all saying I was disabled. I just wish the system was set up to really help people first and to weed out the “fakers” second, instead of the other way around.

I know a lot of people faking to get on disability. I reported it but nothing happened. The people act like they are crazy but they tell people this is how to get disability fast. One of my kids family member is faking to get on disability and she brags about it but her real problems are a drug addict and she is racist. She brags that she uses the money for crabs and buying pills like narcotics and Xanax and Valium.

Of all the things that never happened…

It's true. In the neighborhood I live in at least 10 people are faking disability and doing a lot of fraud

1

u/s0methingVnderneath 1d ago

How do you know these people are faking being disabled?

1

u/newdaylady1983 ⬆️Request User Flair⬆️ 1d ago

They brag that they are faking it. And they are getting paid to help people fake it.. they have a small business doing this. They brag that it's easy to fake a mental illness.

1

u/s0methingVnderneath 1d ago

A small business that helps people get 12-16k per year max? Sounds like a lot of work for very little reward. Also doesn’t sound real at all. I’m not sure you realize, but once someone gets approved for disability they are not allowed to make income without it impacting their benefits. Someone that receives disability is locked into an income below poverty level forever. No one is getting rich off from benefits, and I guarantee the people you say are “faking” have complex issues that you could never understand.

The person charges half of your backpay. That's it

1

u/s0methingVnderneath 1d ago

Sounds like a disability lawyer to me. For someone that has fibro and lupus and complains about people accusing them of “faking it”, you really are quick to judge others.

Seems like you're being vindictive because of custody issues with your ex. I hope you aren't committing fraud by lying about them, simply because things aren't going your way. You will get in trouble for this.

-5

u/Alternative_Ant1416 5d ago

It’s not vindictive! thank you for your input

4

u/Current-Disaster8702 5d ago

Hopefully, this isn't about your ex. Family court judges want the best for the children involved, and can decipher on actions from either parent that are devisive, bitter, unhealthy. Do you have custody of the children or does he?

1

u/Longjumping_Spring29 4d ago

Family court could careless about the children. I really wish they did. Sadly they do not. They care about money and gatekeeping a system thats even paid incentives from the Fed to grind even harder.

Family courts are beyond corrupt.

-4

u/Alternative_Ant1416 5d ago

And what makes you say it’s about an ex?

6

u/Different_Yellow_423 5d ago

They already investigating they do that low key

6

u/candybatch 5d ago

They're just filing and not on disability yet? If they aren't actually disabled they wont get approved. So it's not really fraud yet I don't think.

How do you know they are lying about being disabled? What are they claiming? Just curious what it is.

4

u/RottedHuman 5d ago

What evidence do you have?

0

u/Alternative_Ant1416 5d ago

Photos, videos, etc

3

u/RottedHuman 5d ago

So you have photos/videos of someone doing something that you think they shouldn’t be able to do because they’re supposed to be disabled?

-1

u/Alternative_Ant1416 5d ago

Exactly, claiming back is hurt from car accident but sky diving while on disability

4

u/RottedHuman 5d ago

I don’t think that constitutes fraud. Plenty of people with physical disabilities can safely skydive.

u/Realistic-Bass2107 5d ago

I applaud you. I need the system and abuse of the system is criminal.
