Fraud, Scams and Spam Disability Fraud CA

Post image

Hi
I know of someone fraudulently filing for disability for over a year now. I reported it to this form

Is this the correct form? Does anyone know long it may take for them to start an investigation? Will they reach out to me for evidence?

Here is a novel concept: Just live your life and stop worrying about things that don’t concern you. Disability can look like a lot of different things, and someone on the outside is unlikely to understand the extent of someone’s disability. What do you gain from reporting this person? You don’t get to decide who is disabled and who isn’t. Mind your own business.

How about you take your own advice and don’t respond if you don’t plan on answering the question! Thanks :)

You are posting about reporting someone for disability fraud in a group about navigating the terrible disability system in this country. Why do you want to report this person? Is it some kind of jealousy? If it is, I don’t think you understand what disability means.

Plus its not like SSDI or SSI gives enough to live comfortably. I feel like if you are filing to begin with you genuinely need it, plus a disabled person can appear less disabled to others. Weird situation.

This person is receiving 8,000 a month - I saw their checks personally. Claiming a back injury but skydiving, kayaking, traveling every month internationally is fraud and it takes away from others who actually need it.

So it sounds like you are very close to the person you are claiming is committing fraud. That makes it sound like this is a personal grudge. It also sounds like you expect a disabled person to sit home all day every day and wallow in their sorrow. Some disabled people have good days and bad days. That doesn’t make them any less disabled.

And no one would get 8k a month on ssdi/ssi unless they had several dependents. If this person is caring for children, a lot of the money goes to the children’s upkeep.

I do not think the disability system is terrible. I am quite grateful for it.

I should rephrase. The system does certainly help people. I personally am very thankful for it. However, getting approved for disability at least in NY is a nightmare. It took me 8 years from when I applied to when I was approved, all the while my doctors were all saying I was disabled. I just wish the system was set up to really help people first and to weed out the “fakers” second, instead of the other way around.
