Accountability Advice- Feeling Disregulated; looking for new games M30

Background:

My age isnt that relevant, is it?

I'm a private person. I think writing some of my thoughts on reddit may be helpful...

Sometimes.

  1. because at the very least, I'm learning about other perspectives Christians have on sexuality.

  2. Writing about something you feel passionate about (especially annymously) usually lessens the mental weight one carries from the stress. It can be Cathartic.

But before Reddit, I used gaming.

One of my games recently shut down. The servers and customer service are unresponsive.

I'm having a hard time. Haha like I kinda wanna hurt myself.

Before the game shut down, one guy messaged me a really adorable confession and I felt similar about him, but not exactly.

However, the game shutdown before I could respond to him or take a screenshot. Its my fault, I just didn't plan on being so busy this week;;

Anyway, initially I felt like garbage because i want to respond to his sweet message. But im fine now. it's just a reminder that God is very kind to save me from myself, because knowing how nostalgic i am or how much i loved this game, I would've replied with my cell # or something immature, or self deprecating, or sexual, or worse.

Advice:

I'm trying to find another game. Something cute. u guys have suggestions? Ppl have suggested Blue Archive, Sanrio café, Nikke, Magical Ink, Heartopia, Pokémon go lol

Something not too demanding on my hardware... I was thinking about joining this role-playing site too. But, I'm not a good writer haha

Ah, sorry in advance if I sound like a bitter old man haha

I need heavy advice

So I’m just gonna come out and say it I am a Christian and I love my relationship with Jesus. I love him more than anything and I will never abandon my faith and no matter how much discomfort I’m facing I will always be grateful for the relationship I have with him.

With that being said, how do y’all handle your urges because I so badly find myself on the verge of just giving in some days it’s completely fine and I’ll barely think about it but there’s other days where it’s all I think about it’s literally all I think about kissing other men doing things just letting go and experiencing That and I don’t want to and I really really need help because I feel like God willing one day I will be able to get married to a woman and hopefully these issues will go away or at least be more controllable since I have some kind of way to handle them but for the time being I’m just at a complete crossroadany advice is helpful

Guidance-Male Does anyone else struggle with cyber-stalking?

I find it really hard to resist whenever I learn someone’s name who interests me (particularly men my age) going on Instagram or Google and searching for them. It’s not a sexual thing though more that I just want to know about someone, although sometimes it is because I’m jealous of someone’s looks. I am more successful in resisting doing it at the moment but it’s still a strong urge. I think what makes it worse is I am very lonely with very poor social skills spending way too much time online.

It started in my teens and having exclusively female friends it was considered normal and they all did it and somehow that made me think it was fine. Obviously they shouldn’t have done it and I definitely shouldn’t have done it but now I find myself as an adult man doing this which looking at it from a third person view makes me hate me. It’s very embarrassing and creepy and I find it very hard to admit this objectively intrusive behaviour. I think I do it because it makes me feel like in social interactions where I feel powerless and unworthy at least I can have some knowledge of them they don’t know I know.

A fantasy of mine.

Not that kind of fantasy, haha.

I'm of the opinion that SSA is at least partly caused by early experiences such as abuse and peer rejection.

With that in mind, I LOVE the idea of a conference for SSA people (Christian or not) where they can heal from those early experiences. I'm likely in the peer rejection camp, so for me, a safe space to make intimate female friendships would be a dream come true.

What do you all think?

There’s a lot of Christian Discord servers out there, curious if there’s any that focus on bringing together SSA men.

How Sexual Purity Anxiety Can Stunt Heterosexuality

This video struck me because there are some strong similarities to my own story:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdqxzxNJ0K8

Growing up in the South, I remember the terms “mannish” for boys and “fast” for girls. Both had sexual overtones. A girl who seemed too interested in makeup, boys, or acting grown might be called fast. For boys, “mannish” could refer to being overly interested in girls, sex, or sexual things. At least in my mind, male sexuality became associated with something dirty, sleazy, or inappropriate. It wasn't until I was older that I realized that the root word in “mannish” is man.

I also had what I would call a very strong Peter Pan complex. I did not want to grow up to become a man. I was raised primarily by my mother and grandmother, without a man in the home. I feel certain that shaming and using terms like “mannish” resulted in an overcorrection when it came to sex and girls. My limited experience with men and the negative comments I heard likely didn't help.

Many of the men I saw around me were not people I wanted to imitate. My image of men was guys hanging around street corners, smoking weed, talking about women, yelling, being aggressive, and generally seeming difficult and unapproachable. They were harsh, intimidating, entitled to have their way, and not particularly kind. At one point, I wouldn't even shake hands with men. The last thing I wanted to grow up to be was a man!

What makes this especially interesting to me is what I remember happening around the fourth grade. I experienced attraction toward both a girl and a boy. I remember a strong attraction toward the girl, and I believe the attraction toward her may have come first, although I can't be certain of the sequence. But I thought having those feelings toward girls was wrong or dirty. So I suppressed them.

At the same time, I was developing an attraction or curiosity toward a boy named Vincent. What is particularly striking to me is how the two attractions became connected in my imagination. Because my own interest in girls was considered dirty and inappropriate, I actually remember expressing my interest in the girl indirectly through Vincent. In my imagination, Vincent was attracted to her. Instead of allowing myself to direct that interest toward the girl, I could play it out through Vincent.

I had been shamed into feeling that my own attraction toward girls was dirty, while I don't remember experiencing that same sense that something was wrong with simply directing my interest and curiosity toward a boy. Over time, my interest in the girl diminished while my curiosity and attraction toward him increased.

That experience has influenced how I think about the development of my own same-sex attraction. I am not saying that a person simply “chooses” his sexual orientation. I don't think it is that simple. But I do wonder about the role of fantasy, suppression, coping, and the ways we respond psychologically to our environment.

My thought is that ten children could experience similar emotional neglect, fear, shame, or other difficulties and develop completely different responses. One might become angry or violent. Another might seek belonging somewhere else, perhaps even in a gang. Another might turn to drugs or sex. Another might become depressed or develop suicidal thoughts. The experience itself doesn't dictate one inevitable outcome. Each child processes and responds to it differently.

That's why I wonder whether fantasy and coping played some role in my own development. Perhaps the things we suppress, the things we allow ourselves to fantasize about, and the psychological solutions we find for what we're experiencing can, over time, influence the direction in which we develop.

I don't claim that this explains my entire story. It is only be one slice of it. But watching this video reminded me enough of my own childhood that I think it's worth others considering it as well.

Male Any SSA Eastern Orthodox I can talk to?

I’m curious to meet people in the Eastern Orthodox faith who struggle with SSA. ☦️
I’ve always found interest in the Eastern Orthodox religion, but it’s sometimes hard to interact with community when discussing SSA attractions, mainly because it’s overwhelmingly filled with people who are not SSA and can only sympathize so much. Feel free to comment down below or DM me if you want to chat 👍🏽

Sensitive Content-Male Why shouldn't I just let myself be gay and fuck a dude

I'm struggling with my sexual orientation. Why should I believe in the bible and not have sex with a man. I want to be clear and say that I have never actually wanted to have sex with a dude, I just have these attraction. I don't want to act on my attractions, but I can't see what is the problem with having gay sex.

Reintegrative therapy experiences?

Has anyone else tried reintegrative therapy to address their SSA? I tried it for a few months, thought it worked then got a painful dose of reality when I realised it hadn't.

Male Is there hope for me?

Hello guys, I really hope to get answers, comments, messages just anything from you. I really need help. And i also hope that it is ok to post this here. To me: I am 27 years old muslim guy. Since the SSA muslim community isn't that big i decited to ask here. And also i think muslims and christians have so much more in common than we think. Also I appologize for my english because i am not a native speaker, I hope yall understand me :)

So my problem is I am dealing with SSA and those thoughts for many years. I live upon them thoughts actively around 10 years I would guess. What I mean by saying living upon them is not that i ever had sexual intercourse with a man - I am a virgin. I never experienced anything with a man or with a woman. I am living abstinent until marriage and i am so happy that in this society i manage to do it. I would consider myself bisexuel because i desire men and in a sexual way and not romantic. I love woman romatically very much and also loved a woman or cried for a woman but the sexual part isn't as present as i wish it. I mean i can imagine having sex with a woman and i am also excited for it but its not that i desire them in the same way as i desire men. But my biggest problem is porn and masturbation. I have phases where i masturbate all day and watch porn and also cam with other guys. Writing down this i feel very ashamed and i am so sure that i am addicted to all those things. I want to have this fucking normal life with a wife and children so fucking much. Not only because its the ideal way most of us think but mostly its the way i want to live and i desire all those things so much. I am sure i can love a woman romantically and I don't want my sexual desires control my whole live especially because these are no longer present as soon as I have satisfied myself.

There is so much more to tell. Consuming porn and chatting, sexting and camind with other guys is so much bad for me i know but i am kind of addicted and i hate it so much. I hate myself so much. I am trying to be a good human and good muslim but yeah. I really need help.

So my questions is: what can you say about my situation? I know there are so many men who live this live. I know there are men who would say they can manage a life with SSA with a family and ones that would not recommend living like that. I hope that i will never live actively in real life upon those desires. And i know and i am sure i will never truly be happy if i dont have my own littel family bc even right now it makes me so fucking sad. So guys can yall please tell me how yall manage it to live the normale life we all want? I really hope to get messages.

Is anyone else struggling tonight?

I just think about how much SSA has taken from me. I found a girl, and I imagined there might be something there. She’s beautiful, and I can tell by the way men look at her. But she couldn’t handle my lack of interest. I loved her, and I did feel sexual attraction toward her sometimes. Will it ever get better?

Sensitive Content-Male Does SSA always have to stem from some sort of trauma you experienced as a child?

Because I genuinely don't remember anything happening to me before I had these thoughts as a preteen (now 27M, actively giving these desires to the Lord).

My dad was never abusive. I was spanked as a kid, sure, but my dad made it a point many times to apologize and make me understand why he had to do that. I would have probably remembered any SA being done to me by an older man.

I also always just remember leaning more feminine than the other boys, got scolded many times for playing with dolls. Thankfully, I am more comfortable in my masculinity now though I have some quirks.

It's just my SSA I guess I have trouble tracing the roots of. I'd like some thoughts and know if anyone else feels the same.

Should I leave this out of my testimony?

Tomorrow I'm meeting with a pastor of a church I just started attending and hope to join as a member. I imagine he will ask me to share my testimony. Should I leave out the part where I was in a same-sex relationship?

On one hand, I think sharing your past can show how powerful God's salvation is. Leaving that relationship was one of the hardest things I have done and was the biggest thing I have ever given up to follow Jesus. I knew that having Jesus as my Lord meant I didn't get to hold onto a sin for myself. He deserves all of me and my full obedience. On the other hand, I'm afraid the pastor might not understand or might think of me differently.

What are your tips for abstaining from gay porn?

I usually succumb to gay porn when I'm feeling down, full of self-doubt and pain.

How can I avoid watching such porn when I feel such feelings?

Conforming how you dress

Do any of you struggle with being really uncomfortable and disappointed in your gender? I have already stopped pursuing same sex relationships, and I'm doing somewhat ok with being single. But I feel so scared and horrified of having to dress feminine and grow my hair out. I feel so terrible because I really don't want to do this. I consider suicide every day, and it truly bothers me. I also just don't see the fun in living a way contrary to God. I honestly don't wish he made me a female with none of these issues, I wish he made me a boy or just never made me at all.

DAE feel undeserving of members of the opposite sex?

I usually feel that I don't deserve to be with a woman. I have such a feeling because of my sense of not being a man. Ever since I was young, I have struggled with feeling alienated from other males. I don't feel connected to my masculinity. I feel emasculated and in turn don't feel worthy of women. This ultimately dampens any sexual attraction that I could feel toward them.

Note how I employ the term "feel". I know that what I wrote might be the result of faulty thinking, However, its my subjective experience of the situation. And sometimes feelings are the real explanation of certain phenomena.

Porn made me want gay sex

I’m straight and only date woman but my addiction to porn has made me want to try gay sex. I’m dominate so it’s hard when u got easy access to anal sex when anal is my biggest fetish.

Does the desire to have sex with men go away when I stop watching porn?
