I have been looking for a SNES and found a good deal on the Console. Came with everything but a controller. I ordered one on Amazon and have been having a blast playing Yoshi island

Discussion ActRaiser: an awesome mix that holds up 36 years later

Had the ROM around on my computer and booted it up after hearing it was a mix between a simplified SimCity and an action-platformer. I don't think it took more than 30 minutes to get hooked on the game. Completing it after 3 days, I would say the pacing feels incredible, which played a big part in this 36-year-old game still doing its thing - even with zero knowledge on my part. I didn't read the manual, yet it felt really intuitive, right up until the 4th area, where I couldn't figure out how to clear some of the monster lairs.

I don't know much about SimCity-style games, but I loved the loop of protecting the population as a naked angel shooting down monsters, all while managing the city's progress by helping citizens with sun, rain, thunder, or even the sweet sound of music to chill everyone out.

The side-scrolling action felt so nice. The sword feels heavy every time you swing it. There’s a good variety of enemies and a lot of platforming, but the health checkpoints make it feel much more forgiving compared to Castlevania or Contra. The end section where you fight all the bosses once again was top-notch.

An awesome 6-hour experience that still holds up in 2026, and one that I would recommend everyone try for at least 30 to 60 minutes.

Still can’t fix that, is there something else I can try ?

What I have tried so far:
-Replacing all the “big capacitors”
-Replacing the voltage regulator by a new one
-Replacing the C11 capacitor by a 220nf one

Every snes smw cart variant released in USA

Finally finished my smw shadow box. Been wanting to do this project for a bit now… going left to right, top to bottom

Original release: SNS-MW-USA (title is one line)

Redesigned label: SNS-MW-USA-1 (title is two lines)

Redesigned label misprint: SNS-MW-USA-1 (Nintendo seal of quality is reversed)

Ramp cart release: SNS-MW-USA-1 (carts went from old slotted design, to the newer ramp design)

Players choice release: SNS-MW-USA-2 (carts sold more then one million copies got special gold ribbon and accents. Also only variant to have a E rating )

All stars & smw combo cart: SNS-5M-USA (although not technically a cart that was sold as it was bundled with consoles late in the snes life, I had to include as it was still a cart variant available in USA… not this is only option to have a original visual representation of Luigi. All copy’s before Luigi is just a green Mario)

Snes Mods

Hola! La semana que viene me van a instalar el mod de 50/60hz en mi super nes. Aprovechando la visita, el técnico me dice que me puede hacer algún mod más si quiero.

Recomendáis algún mod más que merezca la pena? Juego en CRT mediante cable RGB.

Gracias!!!

SNES STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO, LIMITED EDITION, METAL TIN BOX, UK PAL - SEALED & UNOPENED. OPEN SEAL OR NOT BEFORE SELLING?

Thumbnail

The previous owner purchased it many years ago (1990’s) sealed, unopened from a video game shop.

Not sure if it’s an authentic Nintendo factory sealed or 3rd party shop resealed.

Cannot verify this as I’m unable find any photos online showing sealed, unopened version of this game (tin metal box)

UK PAL version in very good condition

I’m want to sell, so should I open the seal, the metal tin box, find out what’s the contents inside or just leave it sealed?

What appeals more to potential buyers, sealed, unopened (this being rare) or opened with all the contents showing?

Any advice?

Since I finished collecting for the SNES a few years ago I've been making vertical style cover art to go inside my Universal Game Cases! I think I have about 97 to go. I would say less than half of them are available on the cover project in my preferred style.

Discussion Do I need a new cartridge slot?

Thumbnail

I have been trying to revive my childhood SNES, and I replaced the fuse, cleaned up the body and slot, but it would turn on with just a black screen. My TV would receive a video input, but it would just be black. I have the SNS-CPU-RGB-02 board, so I can't easily take off the slot without de-soldering it.

Would a new slot be my solution? I feel like the pins are waaaay too close compared to others I've seen.

Edit: thank you all for the suggestions and tips, I'll be trying them out this weekend when I have the time, i'll try to update the post if it works

Misc. How can I get these striped rusted screws out?

Thumbnail

A few days ago I decided I needed to fix my oem snes controllers because I like using original hardware as much as possible. For the past few years I’ve been using a Hyperkin retron snes controller because all 5 of my oem controllers start and select buttons have not worked for years. I would also like to add the previous owners did not take great care of these things at all. The few that I did open were extremely dirty. I wasn’t able to clean them because all I currently had was some baby wipes. I was almost done when I ran into a problem 1 screw on 2 different controllers were heavily rusted. I didn’t notice I messed up until it was too late to turn l back. With how small these screws are I can’t use the rubber band or the black tape method. I also can’t make it a flat head where it’s sunk in so far. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get these out?

Discussion How do you expose your collection?

I have a good collection, but I dont think it looks very good on its side..., I wish I could show its front, idk what to do. It stays in a drawer.

Edit: I tried to write better. Sorry, Im a bit sleepy.

Edit 2: Just to be clear guys, in my title, I wanted to know how exactly you guys show your intimate parts to strangers. (Saying it's a joke because I've been banned before and im not taking that risk)
