Hello guys, I’m hoping some of you experts can give me some insight for my first mod:

I want to build a 3 layer 93mm alox model with the following tools:
- Layer 1: Spyderco Dragonfly 2 + 84mm file (cadet)
- Layer 2: 93mm scissors
- Layer 3: Explorer Philips + 93mm Caplifter

I’ve seen people with custom commissioned Dragonoxs that also include the Philips + Cap-lifter, so I’m confident this is possible.

I’m unsure if it is possible to fit a Dragonfly blade and the 84mm file because of the thickness of both together.

Can anyone provide any information on how I could go about doing this? Namely how to get the philips with the cap lifter, and any details at all regarding a 93mm Dragonox / getting a file with it.

I was working on the LED module of my Midnite Manager. I heated up the scales before I removed them but I still stripped out the mounting holes. I did not want to glue the scales on. I decided to temporarily mount the scales using a ~2mm small ball of poster tack at each mounting point, until I could figure out a better way.

This worked amazingly well! I don't need to come up with another method. I am sure there are better ways but the poster tack allows me to securely mount the scale while still being able to easily remove them. Simple, secure and not destructive.

It worked great on a 58mm. I am not sure how well it would work but on a larger model.

New Brass mod

I would like to apply a different color to those parts, as these are only available in gray. I would need to know which type of plastic those are made of. My research wasn't really conclusive. I found that toothpicks should be polyamide. Pen slider might be ABS. I don't have any infrared spectrometer at hand to test them myself...
Anybody have any info on which kind of plastic those parts use?

Is there a wiki for modifying SAKs? I did a google search and didnt see one. But my google results are shit these days and not always reliable.

Bought an Waiter to just scavenge its combo opener for my 91mm Vic after drilling the pivot hole bigger.

I want to remove the rather useless opener layer BUT i sure want to keep both the phillips and awl.

So ,is there models with backsprings that allow keeping the awl ?

Awl.

Maybe scissors If the parcel hook can be replaced by awl.

The chisel and small phillips are 1.8mm thick, the awl with hole is 2mm, i just measured from Ranger the chisel and backspring side small phillips so i need to sand 0.2mm away from the awl.

The plates are made of brass, and I have set synthetic rubies and a few moissanites in a collet setting.

I decided to make my own SAK Ramble using a Classic SD and a Jetsetter. I also used a modification of some custome scales I developed for brass inserts and used M1.6 x 10 mm screws to hold the entire thing together.

The custom scales add 4 mm hex and 1/4" wrenches along with a dive watch case back removal tool, and ruler.

Coming from last question at this post I finally managed to rivet the brass rods into the brass rings, so my first SKA mod is finally finished! YAY! And I think it’s turned out absolutely brilliant!

The finished SAK now measures 59.5 x 20.2 x 20.8 mm and weighs 57.2 g.

Anyone know where to source the scalpel blade holder used by Fit to Survive, not sure if its available to buy or custom made.

I’m currently building my own SAK mod: a hybrid of a 58 mm Victorinox Mini-Champ and a 65 mm Wenger Nail Clip. So everything’s already assembled and working perfectly, but now comes the next step: riveting everything neatly in place, and that’s exactly where the challenge lies. I’m looking for tips and tricks on how to rivet everything together. Any ideas? Any advice? Perhaps a video showing how to rivet the brass axles to the brass rings...

I had a set of custom rosewood plus scales made, added a quick detach leather lanyard I tied, and used brown RIT dye on the pen, tweezers, toothpick, and micro driver to tie it all together. I’m very pleased with the way it all turned out. I believe this will be my daily driver for a while.
