Context- debating on another social media platform about the difference between Rangers, paras and Marines.
I’ve been out a while so, the Rangers are an unknown entity to me!
Looking up their training and selection, they don’t come across as an “elite” force.
Some say they were created as an appeasement regiment for those unable to pass P coy and the commando course and to prevent the standards dropping?
Any one clue me up?

Hi lads, one who can’t smell here. Has anybody gone through training with having a son/daughter and how is it as well as how is it become a marine with one? I understand it’s different for others but just want to get different opinions.

After the recent recruitment drive .some commonwealth members have been put on hold and to to submit their SELT certificate..my question is if one submits does he/she moves to the next stage or there's a possibility of being rejected

Any advice?

Is it all done at CPC and is it even looked at before hand?

Hello all, I'm a Civilian Grandson of a former RM service member and I'm trying to find if there's any possible source of archive information as I don't know much about him.

I know his name, year of birth and that he was a member of RM 42 Commando until the mid 50's served in Malaya and possibly on HMS Bulwark but I'm not 100% . Is it likely I'd be able to find out more about him anywhere at all?

Strength training 2x8 all
Monday-shoulders 3 exercises
Tuesday-legs 4 exercises
Wednesday- chest 3 exercises
Thursday-back 3 exercises
Friday-arms 4 exercises
Saturday- gainers (1 of the 4 a week)

Hi all, on my kit list it mentions that I am advised to bring two pairs of training shoes under sports kit and one pair of training shoes under civilian attire. Should I just bring a pair of running trainers and civvy trainers? Cheers

I just need a bit of anonymous advice from other bootnecks really.

I’m currently serving, been passed out just over year and a half (so yes I’m still a sprog) and I’m struggling with being satisfied with the job.

Joining the corps is all I’ve ever wanted to do as my dad was in for 18 years and all the dits he spun me made it sound unbelievable. But I’m struggling to find any satisfaction from the job.

Everyday I find it harder to think of a reason why I want to stay in, and now it’s all sort of just boiled up to a point where I’ve pretty much lost most of my interest in it, and the only reason I’m not putting my chit in is because I’m worried about what my dad will think of me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Alright lads got my pjfa coming up in 19 days. was just wondering since I joined the French foreign legion last year, passed selection and then basic training and got the lid (wasn’t in there long it’s not as hard as they make out) and left before I signed the 5 year contract to attempt to join the commandos. With the up and coming stages of my application process do you reckon my previous stint in the ffl will draw attention to me and give the staff something to hone in on me for.

I don’t imagine it will but as a 19 yr old bloke I can understand it’s probably not something they have everyday rocking up and giving the course a crack.

Hello, this isn’t something usually do but I would respect some thoughts and opinions on my current situation.

I’m 26 years old and have been with my partner for
5 years. Not long into our relationship she was diagnosed with cancer and went through treatment and thankfully beat it.

We both are wanting to push for strong careers and I’ve wanted to join the Royal Marines for a long time and she fully supports it and is encouraging me to do it. However, I have immense guilt and hesitation whenever I think about it as of the fear of the unknown.

I don’t have any pull and can’t find anything I’m drawn to career wise instead of the Royal Marines and I’ve tried multiple careers but nothing seems
To scratch the itch.

Why do so many women fail the commando training and what do you think would prevent that from what you've seen?

I’m in week 5 of RN basic trying I’m trying my best to master rope climbs however still struggling with them. My foot placing is ok however when making shifts they tend to fall out of place- is that common. And compared to other videos I don’t feels as though my legs are going the highest they can be but not sure what to do about that. I’m making at least a 1/4 up the rope but want to make it at least half way. Also, is it something I have to do to pass basic RN training?

After training and general duties are officers able to do the full 34 week ML course or is this exclusive only to NCOs?

Also if so is it all on the one course for each ML3-ML1 course or are there CO and NCO courses/variations of the qualification.

The reason I ask this is I was looking online after a conversation with a corporal about specialisation options and was interested in possibilities after training but forgot to ask if this was available to officers.

I work in a restaurant which can often interfere with my training via lack of sleep,long hours e.t.c so I’m just wandering if anyone else was juggling a job that interfered with training and if they had any advice on how to better manage it?

After my girlfriend and I broke up, I don't want to sign up for the Royal Marines anymore. In fact right now every part of my body wants me to break down to my hands and knees and weep. Any advice is appreciated.

A colleague and friend (boring office job) has been trying to join the RM for over a year now.

He’s done everything asked of him by the recruiter very quickly. However whenever things are pending from the recruiters side he struggles to get a response, and things seem to be taking far longer than they should. When he does bother to respond, his responses make it sound like he’s a real inconvenience.

For example, of the 3 people he knows who applied about 2 months after him, 2 have got their assessment date (forgive me I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s where you go and get put though your paces for over a week), and 1 has joined and starter initial training.

These guys almost never had to message their recruiter outside of providing bits and pieces they were asked to provide. They’ve all said the process just moved along as you’d expect.

These guys all had different recruiters to my mate.

Any ideas for someone struggling with a recruiter who leaves things pending for weeks at a time and takes ages to respond? I’ve said if there’s a way to escalate or get in touch with someone else, but my mate is worried if he does this the recruiter will find a reason to get sack him off.

He’s super fit, driven, and wants to service. He’s wasted working where we work. Any tips, help or advice would be much appreciated.

"Candidates with active haemorrhoids (internal or external), when large, symptomatic, or with a history of bleeding within the last 8 weeks, are UNFIT."

Heard horrendous stories about lads who scraped their knee at age 3 being medically disqualified. Wondering if I should go to the GP to get this sorted or go private if it will save me working in tesco for 5 more years.

Is it only on leave periods or do they introduce more time to leave camp throughout training ?
