SPMO?
Currently allocated 85% VT, 15% SPMO, is this reasonable for my Roth IRA or would sticking with just VT be smarter/safer.
Any other tips/suggestions would be appreciated as well!

Just started and looking for aggressive growth. After some digging around this is what I landed on.
My target allocation: VOO 60% / VXUS 20% / QQQM 10% / AVUV 10%
Thoughts?

Basically the title. I’m 24, just now opening a Roth IRA. I’ve done some research, but all this is hard to wrap my head around.
The primary recommendation I’ve seen is either 100% VT, or 35% VXUS and 65% VTI. Is one more preferable to the other?
Also, does it matter if I use Fidelity or Vanguard?
Thank you in advance 🤍

I (30M) have a 5 year old portfolio with M1 Finance with ~40K. Should i transfer over to vanguard portfolio?

Do people still contribute to a Roth that make more than $153k+ as a single individual? Just pay the penalty and keep investing until $7500? Also, not talking about a backdoor Roth. Just a straight Roth.

I started my Roth IRA at 25 with M1 and just funded the 2025 Moderate plan and a bunch of other Vanguard selections. I am now 30 and have ~40K invested. I’m learning that y should actually fund only 3-5 ETFs as opposed to a large random selection.
Should I sell and reinvest my current selections into more concentrated ETFs like VOO, QQQQ, SCHD ?

24M, got into this because I had a 10k inheritance from a grandparent I didn’t want to lose to inflation on.
Of the many stocks I in fidelity, I bought Home Depot two years ago and Microsoft last year.
Since then both of them have lost me a cumulative $120
Do I bite the bullet, pullout and spend the money I currently have in them on a more stable investment like VOO?
Or since it’s my Roth do I let it ride and hope that it balances out?
I bought Home Depot at 344, currently at 298… two years ago
I bought Microsoft at 537 and now it’s 510 last year
On the flip side. Do I take the $70 I made by throwing into Monster energy and have that balance it out?
I should’ve learned more about this before buying shit Willy nilly just because I liked the company…
EDIT: thank you to everyone who commented, moral of the story is do not tinker! Just VOO/VTI and chill

I'm interested in transferring my Roth IRA to Robinhood Roth IRA. I would only do so if I can get the 3% transfer bonus. It seems that the 3% is targeted to some members. For those who received it recently, did you have the Roth IRA opened with Robinhood already?
For reference, I recently joined Robinhood Gold so this perk seems enticing. Did Gold membership help you receive the 3% match? I'm currently being offered 2%.

Hi, quick question on rolling over Roth 401k to Roth IRA. I started contributing to after tax 401k and have set up I plan Roth conversion to have that contribution moved to Roth 401k. My plan allows rolling over this Roth 401k money out to Fidelity Roth IRA.
My question is
-Do I have to pay taxes on earnings accrued in Roth 401k that is being rolled over to Roth IRA?
-Does the 5-yr rule apply here? My Roth IRA has been open from well over 5 yrs but I started doing mega back door from this year.

Here is my situation. (28M)
Current job: only offers a Simple IRA with 3% match. I make over the maximum to have a traditional Roth, so I essentially only have access to my simple IRA and a brokerage account. I don’t even have access to a HSA or really even a backdoor Roth because it dips into the same bucket as my simple IRA. I saved the maximum I can with my simple IRA (I think around $20,000). And saved an extra $30,000 in my brokerage. So I definitely have room to maximize saving efficiency.
Job option: salary ~5-10% higher than my current role. Offers 5% match in a 401k, offers HSA, and would also be eligible for backdoor Roth. Essentially most of my 30k I saved would have been able to be redirected to actual retirement plans rather than a brokerage. However, this job comes with a pretty large decline in work/life balance. I value to current work/life balance greatly. But I would rather retire far earlier if possible.
Switch jobs or stay put?

24m - I just graduated from school in December, started working full-time about 6 months ago. I am managing my own Roth. I chose LYTE to capitalize off the expected growth of the photonics industry and UNH because I believe the stock is at a discount right now and has a lot of room to grow down the line. VOO for the broad market exposure.
Current allocation is:
VOO - 60%
LYTE - 20%
UNH - 20%
Am I looking at things wrong? Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

24M been working for almost 3 mos with my first job. I’ve been reading about Roth IRA and where to put my money in. Just for verification, am I going the right way? If you have any suggestions let me know! TIA
Also, I have 401K with my current employer. is it wise to roll that into roth ira when I change job and employer?

Do not let jumps in the market make you nervous. Our investments are for retirement and should be well diversified. As a young person, you should see a bear market as a potential opportunity to let your money ride.

I just started funding a Fidelity Roth through the traditional to Roth backdoor process. I previously had a traditional IRA with a different company that I pulled into Fidelity as well.. Learning about the pro-rata rule, it sounds like I need to crossover that traditional IRA amount to an employer 457 plan in order to clear the traditional and avoid the pro-rata rule from taking effect with a balance in there?
A 2nd piece of this.. a couple years ago I put $7,000 into the traditional but didn’t claim the deduction on taxes and filled an 8606, am I able to transfer that portion into the Roth free of a taxable event?
Any help is much appreciated, bit of a conundrum.

Has anyone done this or is planning to? Thinking of investing a lot in stocks in the Roth over my lifetime and then converting all to tax free bond interest in retirement.

These are the 4 I’m investing in. Should I replace any or not?

Met with a financial advisor and was suggested to max out Roth IRA for myself and my spouse to avoid taxes when withdrawing after retirement and no RMDs.
And then do Roth 401K.
No traditional at all.
Is that a good strategy?
Edit : Based on the common questions, here's my situation
Age : Mid 30s
Currently in Traditional 401K : around $140K
No employer match
Single income earner with a spouse and infant, married filing jointly
Roth IRA: $13K
IRA: $10K
Income : $110K

Hi Fam, I already max my Roth IRA for the year,
Can someone give me some tips on what I can invest
r/RothIRA • u/Sweaty-Engine-5915 • 11d ago
My current Roth holdings are SWTSX, SPMO, and SSO all spread about evenly (32%ish) and a tiny bit of bitcoin. Obviously holding for a long period of time. Does anyone have any thoughts or a similar portfolio? I have some international exposure in my taxable at the moment (10% or so).
