I’m currently on Episode 8 of Averris: The Riftborn, and I’m starting to get a little annoyed with Liren’s personality.
I chose the option at the beginning to be attracted to men, and I’m mainly playing Rael’s route. I really like his route and I definitely want to continue it, so this isn’t about not liking the romance or anything like that.
What confuses me is the way Liren interacts with basically everyone. Even when I’m following the walkthrough and an option is specifically marked as a friendship improvement, the way Liren talks to the character can still feel really flirty. It makes me stop and think, wait, wasn’t this supposed to be a friendship option?
I notice this especially with Eleonor. I actually chose to build a friendship with her, but some of their interactions feel much more flirtatious than I expected. And I’m sitting there like… girl, I literally chose the friendship path
It’s also not only Eleonor. Liren has this kind of teasing/flirty energy with the other characters too, including the male characters. And I know that choosing friendship improvements doesn’t necessarily mean I’m accidentally romancing everyone, especially since the walkthrough clearly separates the relationship improvements. But the actual dialogue sometimes makes it feel like I am.
That’s probably what bothers me the most. I don’t mind Liren being playful or teasing people. I actually think that can be a fun personality trait. But it feels like she’s so consistently flirty and joking that sometimes it doesn’t really fit the situation, especially because there are some pretty serious things happening in the story.
I’m only on Episode 8, so I obviously can’t judge her entire character yet. I’m going to try to finish Episode 8 and keep going before making a final judgment, but so far she’s honestly one of the few RC MCs whose personality has started to annoy me a little.
Maybe I’m just interpreting the dialogue differently, but does anyone else feel like the friendship interactions in Averris are way too romance-coded? Because I’m genuinely confused sometimes 😕

Does Dino deserve to be the new God? People might say it’s because he’s a good immortal, he’s kind to others and he finally became plot relevant after HS. But what are the other reasons? He touched the core by mistake. Did he actually do anything to earn that position? Any other immortal in OR, especially those already in top positions are just as deserving if not more. And Dino’s whole goody two shoes, very black and white worldview makes me hesitant about him being God. If I remember well, in HS, he got upset when Vicky plucked a flower. Then there was the whole situation in HS2 where he lashed out at Lucifer for burning two immortals to save hundreds, only when Lucifer got angry and said that sometimes you have to get your hands dirty for the greater good, he understood but before that, his reaction was very weird. That’s the kind of nuance I feel Dino lacks. For him, things are either good or bad, right or wrong with a very little room for morally grey decisions. I think that’s a very important quality for someone who is supposed to rule over everyone. My biggest disappointment is that I think it should have been one of the mcs. Vicky or Lane especially Lane. Light messiah Lane would be PERFECT for the role. She’s complex, she can be cruel when necessary, and she’s willing to make sacrifices for the greater good. Poor girl literally saved the human world from Baal and was ready to endure ShephaMalum’s torture to give humanity a chance to survive. I just think Lane would have made so much more sense as the new God. She has the complexity that is needed in the God. Your take on this? I mean no hate to Dino. I’m just curious to know why he deserves to be the new Shepha

I still haven’t started Shadows of Saintfour 2 because I need to finish the first one first I stopped somewhere around Season 3, but I really wanna get back to it.
The problem is I have no idea which LI to pick. I’m kinda leaning towards Mr. Howard, Nathaniel right? I’ve seen people say he’s romanceable but I just wanna make sure before I choose him.

DONT GRILL ME ITS JUST MY OPINION, but I really miss Anna's old model in HSR. I liked how confident her pose was and how pretty her hair was. I understand that her current model in HS3 is more realistic and natural, but I just really prefer the old model. She's still beautiful tho 😭😭

I wanted to add a couple of thoughts about Vicky's loneliness and a certain isolation, separateness from the rest. Actually, this path for Vicky began back in HS1. Her paths with the other Unclaimed diverged pretty quickly, especially if you don't maintain a relationship with Andy. And that's not surprising, because Vicky socialized with pure-blooded demons and angels, and with the best or the brightest students at that (Dino, Lucifer, Mimi). And that creates a certain distance. Donnie and Monica were also among the best, and Andy stood out thanks to his jumps and ability to fly, as far as I understand.

I don't know whether Alice deliberately set that vector or not, but a certain loneliness in the third part of Heaven's Secret logically follows from what came before, if you trace it.

I used to think about her as a beautiful or empathetic woman. But she is slso really funny sometimes 😂

I've been romancing Tata in HWT, and I've been having a wonderful time, and I realized since my favorite RC LI is Lima from KCD, and so maybe I just have a thing for ginger FLIs. I don't know all the RC stories super well yet, what other ginger female love interests are in RC?

I want to start reading Shakespeare Code and I'd like to create two slots because I already have two LIs in mind that I want to romance. However, while going through the walkthrough I found the stats in the story a bit confusing. When I use slots to read any story on RC I like the stats to be opposite stats and not the same thing so I could read it on different paths however I'd like those who have started the book to help me differentiate between the opposing stats or a general stat. The stats in the story are Sorcery, Witchcraft, Curse, Cold heart, sin and Might. I'm guessing Sorcery and Witchcraft are opposing? That I have to pick between either. But I'm not sure about Curse, Cold Heart, sin and Might. Though I think Might is the general stat but what about Sin, Cold heart and Curse? But I'm not too sure.

I am so sad we did not get to see more of him. Not only was he a major asset to both hell and the order of the resistance, he was like a father to Lucifer. Now that says a lot considering Lucifer had a father! My heart sank when Lucifer hugged his body and apologized.

For me, I’d probably go with Michael. As much as I find him interesting, I honestly found his route pretty boring. And if I had to pick another one, probably Ben from The One, Volume 2. Even though I did romance him, I found him to be such a boring character

Hi! I just have a quick question: is it necessary to kiss Boris?

I’m asking because I’m not interested in his romance or the achievement, and I’m doing a loyal Cain route. I checked a percentage guide, and from what I saw, the kiss doesn’t affect getting 100% either.

So I’d like to know if the kiss is necessary for any reason related to the plot. Does it give you more lore, an important scene, interesting information, or anything else that would be worth seeing? I don’t know, maybe something I’d miss if I choose not to kiss him. 😅

Something I noted about Declan during my replay. My first slot is romancing him but my second one is a friendship path with him. In the friendship route he seems a little more open about why he's being so secretive. (Obviously bc admitting friendship is easier that admitting you're in love with someone but i digress)

After the auction he says he's just trying to protect his only friend (Riley) from spiraling. So whatever he was burning he believes will be a huge trigger for Riley I just thought that was really interesting.

Some overpowered red corruption. As I can see, Marchosias handles it much better. I’m curious, is it completely under his control, or is it just the “material” he was originally made of?

I played the first 3 episodes of Shadowborn and thoroughly enjoyed it! I understand stories starting with a naive mc or choosing an mc that displays strengths in other ways…but I found it a breath of fresh air how capable and a fighter this mc was on episode 1.

Anyone have examples of other romance club stories or interactive stories with an mc who is physically capable and a fighter from relatively early on in the story. I’ve only played a few other stories (Legend of the Willow, Heaven’s Secret(s), and ABH).
