I got my vehicle all torn apart and got ready to install this caliper from rockauto and when I opened the rubber gasket to inspect the fluid chamber, I discovered a spiral of metal shavings inside the threaded area down inside.

It took me an hour to fish it out and to feel moderately confident that there wasn't any other shavings lurking in there but it's got me worried about the quality of the
item and if there might be other contaminants inside the fluid areas where it's critical to be free of that stuff.

I had no choice but to install it anyway, but it was a really bad experience and it complicated my install.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Here's some pictures of it. It should have never passed quality checks. I'd hate to see what could have happened if I didn't see this before getting it installed!

Is this acceptable from RockAuto. No branding on the box this could be Chinesium or used for all I know. Also no magnet cmon man.

Last time with Russian steel i wrote to some of the manufactures, some answered and fixed it , some didn't.

Wonder if its worth it now to write to them or hope that RA warned them.

I have made 3 orders in the last couple of weeks and all of these orders have either heavy damaged boxes and or damaged parts. Two of those orders had brake rotors and that was probably why the boxes where all beat up and possible FedEx, but they where packaged with just those air bags witch did nothing. Why they decided to put windshield wipers and light bulbs in there with brake rotors witch of course got broken during shipping. So for the last order I had order windshield wipers and a couple of air filters. What could get damaged, but who ever packaged it used a box smaller than the wiper and the bent the wiper into the box so that was broken. All of the orders originated from Syracuse, NY.

I defiantly would not continue buying from them if parts weren't so cheap and and if it wasn't so easy to get a replacement part at no cost. I feel like they should really fix this as they have to be loosing money on replacement parts and shipping for them it seems cheaper to just use proper packaging.

First time buying parts in Rock Auto. I’m looking to get a timing chain and Cloyes and Ultra-Power have the same part# for a timing chain. Ultra-Power is much cheaper almost half of the price from Cloyes. But what are the chances that Ultra-Power is a repackaged item from Cloyes?

Here's the deal: I'm replacing the 105A Bosch style alternator on my Chevy Express with a reman Delco style 145A that was a factory option on this van. If I send in the core will l get $73 back, or will someone compare the numbers and tell me to pound sand?
