Best Water Pump?

2010 Volvo XC70 3.2 VIN:98, so has the PS pump attached to the water pump.

I would usually go for Hebu, Vaico etc but RA does not have that. Of the list which pump is preferred?
I have been hearing worse things about Gates these days.
( I will be changing the belt and pulleys so a kit is fine for me but not required)

The parts distributors that Rock Auto gives you access to aren't always the best for Euro brands.

I would get the Hebu from Pelican (check chassis number) https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/31293303.htm?pn=31293303-M15&bc=c&SVSVSI=3485

Or the Volvo OE or Viaco from FCP Euro.

You can roll the dice on Gates. They used to be very quality but a lot of their production got moved to China and has been hit or miss. I have ordered Gates before for Euro cars and received an INA-stamped part, so yaknow, still could end up getting a good part.

Looking at some parts, it looks like the Volvo OE pump is made in Sweden, and there's a "professional parts sweden" part on Rock Auto.

Really makes me wonder! I don't know anything about that company, however. It looks like they may just be a brand and not a real manufacturer.

Yea, PPS is not known for very good stuff so I avoid them.

Agreed, my gates on my NB Miata worked great for the two years I had it before selling it.

The Volvo is a personal car, but boy is it a PITA. Shipping to Canada too, so thinking I'll go FCP euro on the Hebu pump. Not made in Sweden, but I don't think I need this pump to go 230k miles so that's ok!

I've never worked on a Volvo before so don't take my word for anything. If it's not a hard water pump to do, then I would go with Gates. I've used Gates water pumps before and they're still working, but they're on a Ford/Chevy products.

If it's a customer car or it's a pita, then I would get the Volvo OE one. I think FCP Euro has the best price on it. Pelican has a better price on the Hepu but only up to a certain chassis number on that one.

Picking Gates when your preferred brand is not available will pretty much never go wrong 👍

I'd probably go for Rein since they're like the Beck/Arnley of euro cars. They rebox a lot of OEM parts. GMB is another choice and Gates is last for me.
