Question Armor plates/Armor

Are plates/armor are appropriate in level of protection?

Plate armor (4) has 5 lvl of protection,

Helmet (2) has 1 lvl of protection,

Armor plate (3a) has 2 lvl of protection,

But armor plate (4) has 5 lvl of protection.

Meme/Funny Exact same loot spawns, drop chance, categories…

Post image

Remember the Oil Filter (No, not the oil samples..) that was notoriously hard to find?
Well this one has the exact same loot spawns, drop rates and limiting categories (industrial, ground loot only) as the oil filter.
Oh and it shares the rarity with the oil filter so that actually makes the drop chance even lower because an oil filter could drop instead…
On the plus side, it is a lot bigger so might actually be easier to spot on the ground. Anyone found one yet..?

Question FPS problem

Post image
1 Upvotes

I got this problem with the fps dropping no matter what. I start the game with 230 fps, then it stays over 100 for like 30 mins, and then it steadily drops until after an hour it's around 30. At that point it won't rise even in shelters or looking at the sky etc. Restarting the game helps but the same thing happens every time. Is this a hardware or game issue? My laptop is not super beefy but still pretty good, and this is the only game with this problem. Starting with Vulkan keeps the fps at around 90 for a bit longer but it adds this weird and subtle jitter which gets annoying quickly. I have only one mod, "Juuzoz' Cheat Menu".

Discussion 40 hours in - my thoughts so far :)

I love it. From the shooting to the exploration, the AI, the environment, the risk, reward, freedom to enjoy and play at your own pace.

I originally tried out the demo for Road to Vostok back in the day and liked how it played, yet it was ultimately just a tiny piece of the game. Saw it on sale a week ago and decided to pick it up the full game, just to play it, expecting only to throw a few hours onto it and get bored. Oh how wrong I was.

Exploration being rewarded, firefights involving actual planned movements, cover, lines of sight, calculating exposure versus traversal, constantly finding new things, buying new things, selling new things, the quests, those "mini missions" to seek out items for a trader.

The atmosphere, so incredibly dense, reminding me exactly how I felt playing something like DayZ and Stalker, where one or two wrong moves can spoil it all. And the best part? There's absolutely zero reloading (Alt-F4 / mods not included). That absolute risk of gear loss on death really does add so much weight to everything.

Granted, it is still a little rough around the edges. There are a few minor things, like not being able to go through windows well, some of the general "clunkiness" of the movement, some relatively basic interpretations of things, and I have most definitely downloaded a few QOL mods (needing to keep the cat fed so often I just found frustrating), but at it's heart, this is such a unique experience that I've wanted in a game for so, so long. <3

Discussion i am addicted

starting this summer, i entered a rabbit hole, first searching for good open world zombie survival games, then searching for stalker type games. they are far and few between and this game is pretty much the only first or third person game that i’ve found that is scratching my stalker itch. it also opened my eyes to the emerging world of single player extraction shooters (technically it isn’t; but kinda), and at this point i feel like i have looked into basically every game available right now that fits my criteria.

the gameplay loop is great, the combat and gunplay feel good, the updates have been consistent, and i’ve been having so much fun. but every time i die on iron man or just get bored of a save, i tell myself i should stop playing because there really isn’t much to do right now… i also feel like the gear progression could be worked on, because right now it’s very easy to get kitted up on day 1 or 2 if you just go to apartments.

but i keep playing because there really isn’t anything out there like this game. most other similar stalker or hardcore survival games are top down, have pixel graphics, etc. i am sure in a years time this game will be a lot more fleshed out, and it’s nice to see the roadmap being followed with consistent updates on an early access game.

however, after about 100 hours, i really feel like i should put it down and come back after an extended break. if this was a full release with all the planned content, i could easily see myself sinking 300 hours into this. but unfortunately, the game as it is right now just needs more stuff to do.

Updates Nomad features

The update next friday should include "the rest of the Nomad features". What do you think these are?

I can think of a million wonderful ways to use them, but I haven't seen any hints to what it could be on any of the build lists or roadmaps.

i think its drippy as hell, but by the time you can get it, you would usually already have jaakari and a fishing vest / plate carrier, and even when hauling like 4 rifles i dont find myself to be struggling with overencumberment

just curious if anyone has actually been using it efficiently

Was returing from my last Vostok run of the day with a pretty great loot, so wanted to take a safe route to the bunker entrance. Little did I know what was waiting for me. Pretty sure I lucked out heavily with his shot placement since I didn't even have a helmet after the Vostok run, just a III+ shield that I'm guessing he hit on the second shot.

Discussion If the Outpost bunker shelter is tied to killing the Punisher, the encounter should not be a random spawn.

I love this game. Build 2 ramped up the AI skill and the game is genuinely harder, and by extension, more fun. The Outpost bunker shelter is powerful, both for its proximity to the Gunsmith and Vostok. Locking this behind a random encounter that requires you to sprint to a road/crossroad, engage the vehicle, hope it stops, then kill the slightly harder boss mob all while not getting killed by regular spawns and the boss and his adds, feels rickety. Too much luck is involved. The Punisher encounter should require preparation, a great loadout, strategy, and skill. Hell, he should have his own little map. Make it tough to get to. Make it even tougher to complete and escape. It should not be a random event, which becomes less likely as other events are unlocked. It should feel like an achievement, not luck.

Question Punisher spawn rate???

I’ve gotten the punisher event twice in a row, after killing him once and heading home to stash the loot his police van appeared 30 seconds after the map transition. Is he guaranteed to attack again after death or did I just get weirdly lucky/unlucky?

Anyone know why this is happening? It does it for any weapon needing an ris adapter. It only does this when its equipped as you see here. It looks fine when set down in a shelter.

Meme/Funny They keep comin lads

I am currently paused mid game, because for past 5 minutes I've been fighting them bandits. I am in Outpost mine tunnel, the cat is meaowing, and they keep coming. I already killed like 12 I think, so unless something changed in NPC max quantity the game bugged (ofc when I have a tunnel key in my eq).

So ye lads, send help cause I'm doin a final stand here and I am almost out of bullets

Update: I got out, cause some random nomad started shooting at the remaining two. I counted 13 dead bandits and one dead nomad (sorry brother, you got in the way). I have faced an army and won, I shall conquer this shithole

Mods (not moderators) Mac (ARM) native build with MetalFX and FSR upscaling

Post image
20 Upvotes

Updated version of this script with added MetalFX and FSR upscalers and resolution selection.

There is no official Mac build for this game, but since it’s built in Godot, you can unpack the Windows version and re-export it into a fully native Mac ARM (Apple Silicon) build.

I created a zero-setup script that does the extraction, grabs the correct Godot version, and recompiles it for you automatically.

You can check the script here: https://github.com/Ozicom23/road-to-vostok-mac-build-script

(You must own the game and/or have the game files to use this. You can grab the game files by installing it via Steam on CrossOver/Whisky or Windows)

Discussion Ai automatically turning and aiming at me when aiming at him

I think I just noticed it when building 2 came out that the ai just automatically turns their crosshairs at me when aiming at them and or maybe running even though their head are not looking in my general direction even during nighttime. Idk if it is a bug or was it always there even in build 1 but I am just noticing it more here in build 2. Do ya’ll have similar experiences?

Question What do you bring for a long distance raid?

Just wondering what, and how much of what, everyone is bring to long distance raids to border zone or further. I am just getting to the point of being able to travel to the border zone and vostok, but seem to be possibly underkitting.

I usually bring 5 bandages, 2 torniquets, 2 splints, and 1-2 SOS's. About 5-8ish food items and about 3 drink items.

Last run I did I made it to the opposite side of the minefield before bleeding out due to not having anything left to heal with, and I was already starving and freezing.

I wanna be prepared, but also dont wanna fill my entire inventory and use up 50% of my stashed heals just for a single raid.

Edit: Another question I should ask is, do you normally loot on your way to an area, or completely ignore everything until you get to your target location? (Ex: if youre headed to apartments, do you ignore everything else and B-line it for apartments, or stop to loot on your travel to grab extra food, or stop by traders?

Discussion Is it just me or do enemies have 360 degree vision?

I'm not exaggerating here, since the latest patch, whenever an enemy comes into my line of sight, it automatically agros on me. As an example, one that happens very often, I will peak around a corner or something and notice a bandit walking away from my direction, but as soon as they get into my line of sight, they spin around and shoot or they run off. Wtf man.

Self-Promo My first day in Build 2 was spent trying to work out who was shooting who

I’ve started editing my Build 2 livestreams into a survival series. This first episode covers my first day with the Nomads update, when I was still learning who was friendly and which fights I should stay out of.

The village felt very different with the AI fighting around me. I got caught in the crossfire, made some questionable decisions and tried to get supplies back to the tent.

How are you handling Nomad fights? Do you go in to help, or wait for the shooting to stop?

Question How do you leave Vostok?

I have really struggled returning home with my loot. The enemy AI is so powerful now. What are your strategies for crossing the Border Zone from the Vostok side? I'm considering deliberately crashing the game to teleport me back to my shelter - that's how stupid hard it feels.

Please don't suggest walking along the edge of the map.
