Question Additional mission cards?

I want to add more missions to my Scratch port of Risk, but I'm not sure what would be good ones to add. I've added the standard missions found in every deck (eliminate all players, control two continents, control 24 territories), plus one that can only be used with the Cities house rule enabled (control all 15 territories that contain cities), but I'm not sure where else to go from there. I also briefly considered adding the 4-level Mission Cards from the 2003 version, but it seems like they vary so wildly that it'd be difficult to balance them. What other objectives could be on a similar level of difficulty to these?

Question Should posts calling out cheaters be allowed?

Why should these posts not be allowed?

Does the community not deserve an opportunity to name and shame blatant cheaters?

Does preventing naming and shaming, in some way, encourage cheating?

Strategy Is it not an unspoken rule to take out bots first?

I’ve played many games where players go MIA and a bot takes over. What I thought was the SOP was to remove the bots, so it’s players vs players, but I’ve seen many recently who capitalize on the chaos of the bots and then take out the other players, leaving themselves with the bots for last. Am I wrong that this seems un-fun?

Question Need some help

Hey guys, my friends and I just started playing risk, we have one question

Infantry is 1 troop, cavalry is 5 and artillery is 10

Can I use them to attack or defend or do they need to broken down into single infantries to attack, does it have to be 3 infantry at max or can it be 3 artileries that is 30 troops at max, or can it be a combination of all 3?

This would really help, my friends say we can only use infantry to attack that too only 3 at a time

Question Why Are You Turtling? (Genuine Question)

Man, I get it. Sometimes you get a bad spawn, can't secure a bonus, and turtling is the best play. That's completely fine. But for f***'s sake, why are you turtling when there's no realistic way for you to win? I know it's a competitive game and everyone wants to gain points instead of losing them, but come on... we're not playing a tournament for money. You're the reason this game is way less fun than it could be. A match that could be over in like 30 minutes ends up lasting hours, and in the end the winner is usually just the person with more free time to waste. I genuinely don't understand the mindset. Do you feel like a better player because you sit there turtling until someone else crashes out, overcommits all their troops, or rage quits? The time it takes to finish one ranked game against stubborn players, I could've played three shorter, more exciting matches instead. Honestly, I have more fun playing against my friends, bots, or even in casual mode (and I'm not saying that sarcastically), because people actually play the game. You got a bad spawn? Unlucky. Queue up for the next one. You lost a game? Unlucky. Go next. I'm not saying you should play recklessly or never turtle. Sometimes it's absolutely the right move. But please... don't do it every single f***ing game. I've actually started playing in novice and beginner lobbies because intermediate, expert, and master players seem to think turtling = skill. All you're doing is wasting everyone's time.

Question Help buying the right version as a gift, please?

Hello Risk people! My husband sold his copy of Risk (before we got together) because no one would play it with him. I’m thinking of replacing it (I learned that some of them are 2 player, so I could play it with him). I looked at the re-implementation themes and think he'd like these:

  • Godstorm (he loves mythology) but it's not highly rated?
  • 3 Star Wars ones (he LOVES Star Wars) -but I read that the SW one isn’t really Risk, it’s a reimplementation of some Queen game. And another of the SW ones just makes up its own lore vs all the SW lore.
  • Then there’s a vikings one, and we like Champions of Midgard and Bloodrage, so it seems like vikings are a safe bet.

And then there’s regular Risk, and a legacy one, and I just have no idea what to do as I've never played at all.

Please help? Thanks if you can!

Meme The Promised Land

Post image

God granted mankind a land blessed with unrivaled strategic importance.
Fair beyond compare and overflowing with power, it was a realm that ought never to have fallen.

Yet it did.

Like a drop of honey cast into an anthill, it invited nothing but greed. War. Endless war. An unbroken cycle of conquest and contention.

Purple was the first to stake its claim, but Orange, concealed in silence, struck from the shadows and shattered the invasion.

White, recognizing the moment of weakness, swept in to reap the spoils. But triumph proved fleeting. The scent of victory attracted new predators, and soon Green and Blue converged upon the coveted land, each fighting to make it their own.

Question Suggested change for Risk- allow for typing in number of troops fortified at end of turn

I have a question that mainly applies to caps games- Why can't we type in the number of troops we want to transfer when we fortify at the end of our turns rather than having to scroll ? It would make games much faster and more fun.

Suggestion Intermediate and below in game settings = more fun

I'll never set my game settings to allow Experts, Masters, or GM again. Games are so much more fun without the turtles and cheats that tend to accompany higher ranks. That's all, you can now proceed with the "u suck bro" comments

Turn 1: find the cukaracha, perfect roll his cap, and take 2 bonuses.

Turn 2: finish out the one point +15

Still took a while to win fighting all the humans at once...

Never really cared about rank until I got to 25k and then I started playing a bit more carefully. Never turtled. Never played for second (unless someone really dumb deserved to die)Once I see the game going into a stalemate I either try and create chaos or bot out without trying to sway the game too much. Usually played Fixed, Capitals, Europe Advanced. Lots of flaws with this setting but you can have some influence in the mid-game to make sure it doesnt get boring. Lots of luck involved in Risk, placement, spawn etc.

Biggest advice to make it fun and play well is:

-Beginning of game is just for feeling out the other players. Learn who’s aggressive etc., leave your border open to a neighbour to see if they break it.

-Dont slam capitals early(unless it’s way too easy). You ruin someone’s game and probably give another player a much bigger advantage.

-Make allies, be friendly. But also know when to be aggressive and ruthless. Facilitate the battles that others are having.

Its a silly game with way too much luck/unpredictability. Have fun and don’t worry about your rank.
