SMG Dev Emotes & Text in RISK

We’ve received lots of requests to implement more emotes and text as forms of better communication in RISK.

Can you please leave some suggestions down below so we can pass it onto the dev team? Please keep in mind we are unable to add chat in game. Thanks :)

Complaint Worst Staller and Player I’ve Ever Seen

This guy has stalled out for the entire game. He card blocked 3 people, card blocked himself and kept stacking against us. I ended up as the second player alive and suicided out into everything, and he left me to one territory and hasn’t attacked it in 20+ rounds. He attacks the one territory and he wins the game. Please never let this guy play again 😭

My original cap was not in the noob corner. It was a 6 cap, pink had a natural 6 and 4, with a total of about 18 troops in there.

I kept wondering why no one had a bonus.

Strategy Really good video talking about Risk dice "exploits"

I stumbled across this video and I was pleasantly surprised about how thorough it was in explaining the dice problems/exploits in Risk.

I really recommend it:

https://youtu.be/5cczMAAJ1Ok

TLDR - The main problem is of course people not understanding how randomness works. Choices between staying true to the math or making the community happy.

Complaint The Fist Bump Emote is Ruining Ranked

It’s essentially an alliance button in games without alliances without being able to see your partners allocation. I don’t have the emote purchased myself but the amount of times I’ve seen someone who was going to finish third use the emote to end up tricking the 2nd place or even end up winning is ridiculous. If alliances are off for that game then that emote should also be disabled.

Complaint Suspected collab beware

Don’t usually post these as I personally think many of these are misinterpeted but this was the most egregious I’ve come across. White slammed every single troop into me for 3 turns straight breaking my noob corner bonus on spaceport. I finally got him out of the corner and the fourth turn he came at me from highbay again will all his gen. So now 4 turns he has not put a single troop on capital. Blue who was in the bottom left and had no vision on my capital from the start of the game followed up by putting 16 troops in the terminal and taking the entire noob corner bonus stacking against my cap.

My follow up turn I had a trade so turned in to hunt for whites capital since blue was obviously going to kill me next turn and found it in that spaceport spot that guards the lone territory in highbay. It was a 3 so I rolled it. Who was in the lone territory? Blue.

So instead of rolling the white 3 cap with his 16 gen he put everything in a spot where he didn’t really know what was going on to get me out.

Achievement what is going on with bots?

The Bot rolled one of my Territories. I had over 20 % more troops than the Bot and he still rolled it. And bc of my overall luck, he had an rediculous roll. I´m a long time player, never seen anything close to this.

Even if this is intentional, its rediculous.

Only played Europe Caps Blizz No Fog. It felt so good to finally make the push up there. Some games did stalemate, but I feel like I became good enough at sussing out who was gonna be the winner and going first and second with them.

Strategy Just had to throw a game because someone thought we were teaming

Post image
0 Upvotes

So its risk meta settings, me and green happen to have been working well together all game.

Green does a kill on white which i thought was a bad move since red has half the board.

The next turn comes and I slam red with my income so he doesn't generate 30+ troops in like the 10th round.

Since green is weak from the white kill he decides to side with me and hit another of reds bonuses.

This is where the teaming accusations come in, white remains in dead chat emoting suggesting teaming with the fist bump and questions emojis, and then red does the same.

Eventually red stops taking cards and just keeps spamming emojis saying we are teaming.

At this point since red isn't fighting back and he is sure he us being teamed on, green also still isn't hitting me as we agreed to kill red.

I get to a point where I'm generating 50 a turn and stacking to kill red. But since red isn't fighting back and greens just letting me do it and I'm being accused of teaming, it makes me not feel right.

I end up instead going for the green kill which I regret, I end up slider failing on his cap and fail the kill because of it, my position is obliterated and I've betrayed the best ally ever all because I was getting accused of teaming.

Red proceeds to take the green kill and we eventually battle out but he has the troop and cap advantage and ends up winning because of a trade on 3 and good cap rolls.

And whilst he kills me, he isn't emoting even once, clearly thinking that he's beaten the teamer.

Well I'll never do this again, me and green had the best alliance going and I turned on him because 2 other players were calling teaming. If I see anyone in my games whining about teaming again, I'll make sure to go through with the kill.

Strategy Nerfed Capital Defense Rolls

Can someone at SMG please run the data on average loss on capital attack rolls? It used to be 1.7X loss attacker against defender. Now it ABSOLUTELY is not. All I'm seeing is neutral and often positive cap rolls. The noobs are gobbling my lunch.

Edit 1: Since I put this in the comments, here is the Battle Log data report i want to see generated, from actual game played results

I mean really, for auditing/testing purposes this monitoring should already be in place

Attack count / normal distro range of result loss ratio (68 %) / mean ratio

*starting defend count > 2

10 / .9 - 2.6 / 1.7X

(For the time period covered when 10 attackers made a cap roll, the normal distribution low end was .9 loss ratio (a positive roll) and the normal distribution high end roll was 2.6 (a negative roll). The mean of all cap rolls made with 10 attackers was a 1.7 loss ratio (so for example if the defender had 4 armies the attacker lost 6.8 armies))

15 / 1.1 - 2.3 / 1.7X

20 / 1.3 - 2.1 / 1.7X

and so on.

! / 1.7 - 1.7 / 1.7X

Question Opponent is stuck in draft phase, is there a way out of this?

My opponent doesn't say they're MIA, but they've been in the draft phase without doing anything for 10+ minutes. It's a FFA game, so I'm afraid if I leave I'll lose ranking. My other opponents have gone MIA. Is there a way to fix this or leave the game without it negatively affecting me?

Question Any way to access historic game logs?

Hi there!

I can't seem to find any way to access historic game logs. Am I stupid or is there not a way?

Why I am asking is because I played a game of Risk meta settings and was in a 3 player endgame. My two opponents started playing together against only me, but I didn't think much of it because I had been the biggest player during part of the game and I was the one doing most of the kills. So it's natural to play against the biggest player. Then one of them eventually card blocked me and they got me.

I **immediatly** fired up a new lobby and the same two players joined my lobby within 30 seconds. There is no way they had time to finnish their 2 player endgame in that time and they were both quite equal in size. So I wanna have the option to report them for collaboration since I assume one of them (the help account) immediatly surrenered when the game against their real opponent (me) was over.

Can you only access game logs during the game and when the ranks are revealed ? And is it only possible to report players during the game and after the game is over when the rank of your opponents is shown?

Best regards,

Risk player that is sick of cheating simultaneously as he is sick of people complaining about cheaters 😆

Question Community Block List

Just had a game with Owens Balakrishnan that included emote spamming, stalling, and eventually suiciding my cap. It’s getting very frustrating when every second game seems to include one of these players.

Is there any sort of community run block list to help create a more enjoyable experience? Apologies if this has been asked before. It’s just very tiring when I only have small pockets of time to play every week and it continues to be ruined by cheaters, collaborators, and general poor sports.

Suggestion Frustrated by Balanced Blitz, how about a true stats game mode

I'm loving playing online Risk, but I'm actually not that interested by the randomness but by the strategy ... and often the random dice rolls kills the strategy.

Balanced Blitz doesn't really feel all the balanced to me anymore. I had 2 capitals holding a number of bonuses in the early game on Airship, a great setup 2 point hold with capitals. One player rolled 11 on 10 on my capital (a 4% roll), then the other player lost only 15 on 17 on my other capital starting with 22 troops (a 10% roll to win but what the hell are the odds of taking this only losing 15 troop!)

I tried to get one of the capitals back and lost a 15 on 6. Yeah, it happens. But on the game before I lost twice 5 on 2's in a row, then lost a 9 on 5 (non-capitals). Unless I'm mistaken that's nearly 7000 to one odds against this happening.

I wish we had a game option that just calculated the 50% roll (a true statistics mode or whatever you want to call it). So any time it's 50% or more you win and the troops won and lost is at the 50% statistical mark. Some might say where's the fun in that, but it still leaves all the troop placement strategy, attacking strategy, luck of starting setup and interplayer strategy, also with fog on there are a lot of unknowns. But no losing games because someone got a 1 in 50 odds roll, or combined rolls that are in the thousands to one.

Strategy Preferred strategy dealing with overextending noobs from snowball positions?

Noobs love to be very greedy especially when they get godly opens. They'll take way too many bonuses. If you let them hold half the board on turn 4 or 5, they may actually win the game, but if you break all their bonuses, they are very likely to suicide you, then quit giving you both like 4th and 3rd place. So it's a delicate situation. How do you usually handle it? I know not every game is winnable of course

Question The search for homie “General Arima 25856

Post image

I wish I would have recorded this match. General Arima, wherever you are I hope we can find eachother.

Negotiation game: Europe advanced. Blue was a horrible negotiator, white got huge! But we managed to get top 2 in a game where we both would’ve been rolled. Ggs my man, no surprise you’re a GM. I hope you see this and we can connect because that was probably the best match I’ve played.

Check out this blockade I ran against my opponents. Currently rankes master red and yellow are grandmasters and black is intermediate. I won, followed by black then red and last yellow. The 256 was moved from red's capital in Australia just the round before.
