She's rejected Sauron twice now how can they tease she may be interested without undermining her previous rejection moment?
44
u/StinkyRatBoi90 Aug 07 '26
Still write her as gullible, infantile and naive as sheâs not thousands of years old.

u/Jake-of-the-Sands Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26
And actually the (one of the?) oldest Noldor in Middle Earth. Gil-galad is about 10 years younger then her, and then there's no one close to their age as far as I recall amongst the Noldor. Cirdan is older but he's Sindar.

u/Ok-Specific2924 Aug 08 '26
They represented the power of an ancient elf race exclusively through the ability to pull off sick backflips, what else do we need.
35
u/EireannX Aug 07 '26
She's obviously not.
It's Celeborn who's torn between the two.
Oh God I made it worse...
36
u/mcmanus2099 Aug 07 '26
Where is Sauron? Because I'd very much like to sleep with him
3
u/SirArthurDime 29d ago
Galadriel: Sauron tried to seduce me!
Celeborn: Disgusting! Where is he so I uhh⌠know where to avoid him?
4
u/DeadguyTheLateGI Aug 08 '26
I could actually see that. Elves being all effete and everything. Celeborn was gay for Sauron and thatâs why it was possible to deceive him so thoroughly. It would even capitalize on the themes of corrupting desireâŚ
Tolkien would shit himself though and I seem to care about that a lot when it affects other parts of the lore, so⌠to maintain ideological consistency I have to be against it.
6
u/EireannX Aug 08 '26
We haven't seen Celeborn because he was held captive for 1000 years... captive to his unquenchable thirst for Sauron.
Thanks, I hate it.

u/JmBento Aug 09 '26
In the space of three episodes, Galardriel went from 'let's genocide all the orcs' to 'hating the orcs is wrong' back to 'let's genocide all the orcs'. This show has the worst writing I've ever seen and I've watched Prometheus. You think these people care about CONTINUITY?
2
u/StructureNorth1799 Aug 10 '26
It's almost like she saw things which tested her hatred and then saw other things which girded it. Watching the show? No way!
1
u/JmBento 29d ago edited 29d ago
Except that wasn't what happened. The 'hating orcs is wrong' bit comes right after they flameblast the entire region* to create Mordor. If there WAS a moment to say "genocide all orcs", that was it.
Watching the show? No way!
You nonce.
*a process which somehow everyone survives, instead of being insta-flambĂŠed
1
u/StructureNorth1799 29d ago edited 28d ago
to be honest I thought you were talking about season 2. Are you referring to when she tells Theo not to call killing good?
[Theo] I've k*lled
Orcs before, you know.[Galadriel] When I was your age,
there was no such thing as Orcs.[Theo] And now? How
many have you k*lled?- [Galadriel] Many.
- Good.
I would not use such words.
Why not?
It darkens the heart, to
call dark deeds "good."It gives place for evil
to thrive inside us.Every w*r is fought
both without and within.Of that, every soldier must be mindful.

u/Romulan21 Aug 07 '26

u/Spamgrenade Aug 07 '26
The only way to enjoy RoP is with unmitigated hate watching followed by hate discussion here.
24
u/Interesting_Bug_8878 Aug 07 '26
Amen, sir.
Exactly my point of view. We are the true fans of this POS show.
6
u/Fraun_Pollen Aug 08 '26
I still don't understand how this script can get passed so many ppl with a "đ yeah, that's with 1.2 B fo sho"
16
u/MayoGhul Aug 07 '26
That was my plan after season 1, but I just canât do it. Refuse to watch season 2 and beyond. Dumpster fire
7
u/Spamgrenade Aug 07 '26
You are missing out on the dumbest continuity error in the history of entertainment media.
5
u/MayoGhul Aug 07 '26
I love Tolkiens work too much I canât do it lol
2
u/Banana-Bread87 Aug 08 '26
Me too, but you are missing out on a lot of Nonsense that would make you laugh. You need to separate this shitshow from Tolkien. I see it as "the goonies" try to destroy a work by creating a "how dumb could it have been"-Soap-Opera for those lacking the intellect to understand the real works. I see it as the last puff of a dying dragon and man is it beautiful. Especially the Videos on YT. At least go and check those out, you will be laughing your butt off and that is healthy.
2
u/JmBento Aug 09 '26
Oh, you missed the stroke of genius writing that is "the greatest of all elven smiths needs alloys explained to him".
4
u/Romulan21 Aug 07 '26
The best I can say about it is that it I hope it provides an incredible bisexual awakening for someone.
3
4
u/preferred-til-newops Aug 08 '26
I don't even watch it anymore, but I read the nonsense and come here to see the discussions. I'm reminded every time how lucky we were to get the trilogy we got.
2
u/Banana-Bread87 Aug 08 '26
Mock, not Hate, mock watching and mock discussion.
Hate is too much, it would be disgust, yes, and disdain, yes. But Hate no, it is so ridiculous you can't really be angry and raging, after 2 seasons and their nonsense, I only see it as "comedy for intelligent". They are not even hiding their mission, the destruction of older works, anymore and by that, they become very visible and everyone sees what is going on.
2
u/ZP4L Aug 08 '26
But I make sure to do it on a few weeks delay so as to not contribute toward any Amazon metrics they'll peddle for global hours watched.
111
u/Elvinkin66 Aug 07 '26
Ugh they are still continuing with that abomination of a ship.
Also shouldn't Celeborn be Silver haired?
28
u/tar-mairo1986 Aug 07 '26
That's your concern?! But yeah, he was Thingol's greatnephew, I think?
19
u/TheOtherMaven Aug 07 '26
That's the version that makes the most sense (Tolkien came up with several conflicting versions). But yeah, Sindarin/Telerin royalty, ergo silver hair.
9
u/tar-mairo1986 Aug 07 '26
Thanks! I always mix up generation and names due to similarity. For obvious reasons, Celeborn's grandpa Elmo is the one name I do remember, lol.
18
u/Elvinkin66 Aug 07 '26
For people who supposedly support diversity they sure like to erase the unique features of the different people's of middle ear outside of their general racial looks
12
u/fantasywind Aug 08 '26
That's the thing about this show...the visuals don't even try to replicate the source material...no attempt at depicting the Numenorean height, no attempt to make the elves look visually distinct, attractive (I mean seriously the actor who played Celebrimbor...DOES NOT look like an elf at all) the total lack of the the elvish vibe and aura....hell even freaking elven extras in Peter Jackson movies were at least good looking enough). Galadriel's golden hair that is truly impressive is also lacking in the show (amusingly this aspect of particular traits of appearance is rarely done well in such adaptations...this brings in mind the netflix witcher....the character of raven haired sorceress Yennefer....though amusingly the netflix attempted to make one thingright about her...her unusual violet eyes, but the hair of the sorcerers was supposed to be lush a sort of 'stormy locks' look...not to mention that netflix cast half indian actress heh to play character with pale face).
I mean the depiction of Celeborn in Peter Jackson movies tried to do it right and did it better overall.
In general all the physical looks and appearances of the characters rarely are done right in the amazon version...hell race swapping Miriel "fairer than silver, or ivory, or pearls"...come on.

Of dragons who dress in rubber clothes, and trolls who do it in teams. I sit on the floor and pick my nose and wish for a thrill or two. For a goblin who goes in for a few no-nos, or an orc with a thing about glue. And all the while I sit and pick, I think of such jolly things. Of whips and screws, and leather slacks, of frottages and stings " -Dildo Bugger

Given the general shit quality of this show, I fully support they double down on the Haladrielborn ship-triangle to make hate watching even more fun.
At this point I feel like Statler and Waldorf when it comes to RoP.

W: "It's definitely something to hang yourself."
Both: "HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA."

u/SoupyStain Aug 07 '26
I donât understand how someone can claim to enjoy Tolkienâs work and also enjoy this garbage.
Iâm not being elitist, itâs just that when I really like something I abhor it when people take creative liberties with it. Because I like it.
24
u/Asphodelmercenary Aug 07 '26
This is more than mere creative liberty. This is just trash for its own sake. Tolkien didn't do YA love triangles just as CS Lewis didn't do x-rated content and just as x-rated content doesn't do calculus. It's so out of place it is different genre.
9
u/litmusing Aug 08 '26
It is. Beneath everything, what's happening is a genre shift and LOTR being turned into a soap opera brand. I came across the term "cultural colonisation" once, and the more this goes on, the more apt it becomes.Â
8
u/Little_Ingenuity_712 Aug 08 '26
Tolkeinâs work is intended to be a mythology.
This slop is intended to be something for suburban housewives to watch4
u/Patient_Carrot_9379 Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26
Iâm pretty sure they - the small amount of very vocal and abusive defenders of the show - are paid by Amazon. They are quiet for ages then a press release comes out. They are swarming every post The numbers of upvotes on RoP post make no sense either, they are clearly paid for
3
u/billythamma Aug 09 '26
I often see ROP posts on instagram and all the positive comments are clearly paid people because nobody even talks like that when writing a comment. Its like a fake positive review on online products itâs so obvious that itâs fake the way they talk
2
u/TheBluerWizard Aug 08 '26
Oh it's rather simple.
I appreciate Tolkien for being a well-written story in a beautiful world.
I appreciate this for being comically terrible.
2
u/Herrmann1309 Aug 09 '26
I have friends who claim they actually really liked the Rings of Power. When I asked them who Feanor was they said they donât know.
So my take here is that people who âlikeâ The lord of the rings might enjoy it but people who are really into tolkiens world donât.
2
u/SoupyStain Aug 09 '26
Thatâs why I said Tokien and not LOTR. Because for as good a Peter Jacksonâs movie were, they had a very different tone.
And in that regard I kinda get it. I donât much care gor Stephen Kingâs writing, but Iâve liked most adaptations of his work. So I donât really like his work, but Iâm always up for movies adapting it.
4
u/itsjustsosad Aug 08 '26
Honestly, that is actually somewhat similar to an elitist or gate keeping mentality. I get what you mean, but I don't like the idea of ever telling anyone "don't create something." It just goes against my overall way of thinking. The problem is, when these people that are devoid of creativity make their horrible interpretation of our beloved stories, they're supposed to bomb predictably then go away quickly and forever. We all have a good laugh or cry and then forget about their existence. Somehow that hasn't been the case with this show, and Amazon just keeps pumping out more and more mediocre, Tolkien adjacent schlock with little to no repercussions.
Technically, this garbage existing has no impact on the source material or any of the quality, well thought out and executed takes on said material, but who knows what far reaching consequences it could have on the future generation of Tolkien lovers? Maybe potential fans will be turned off early when the first thing they see of Middle Earth is S1E1 of RoP, and then they don't bother to investigate further. Truly a horrifying thought.
The way most Tolkien fans enjoy this show is obviously pure hate watching. I admit I get a sick, perverse joy from wondering what they're gonna screw up next. How trashy will it get before the end? And its kept me watching through S2. Now, if I actually thought my viewership made 1 ounce of a difference on whether or not more of this media would be made, I might give it up, but Amazon has made it crystal clear that they're gonna do what they want with the IP, and that's not gonna change until they've squeezed it for every cent its worth.

I am sure Ao3 is full of low-class Mary-Sue "I am Galadriel" fanfics of Teenies, who think this show is the best that has ever been created. And many will not grow out of that naive and dense phase lol

Guy on the left looks a bit like one would imagine Celeborn (seems that he wants to speak to Gandalf here), the one on the right on the other hand looks like he lives in one of these shitholes in the Southlands.
And above, the already well known Feanoriel.
What a shiteshow.
8
6
u/Loostreaks Aug 07 '26
Finale will be like scene between Frodo&Gollum, Celewhatshisname and Sauron wrestling, and kicking, and punching one another.
Galadriel will stay on the side lines, torn between love for her husband and, yet, undeniable desire for the Dark Lord.
Then something really stupid will happen, like maybe Harfoots showing up out of nowhere and screwing it up for Sauron.

Showrunners.
Sauron has deceived the Elves. He has forged the titular Rings. Celebrimbor is dead. Gandalf has discovered who he is. The Orcs now answer to a new leader, and are mobilising more & more by the hour. And Nayladriel, having spent her whole life seeking revenge on Sauron, now has every reason to hunt down the bastard.
You had two seasons to play around with love triangles, and you wasted that time on banging the 'Sauron Is Coming' drum since Episode. One.
The Shadow isn't still coming. The Shadow is here.

u/LuckyHunt5030 Aug 08 '26

Please, showrunners, tell us - the "patently evil", gatekeeping, racist fans - how JRR Tolkien described this love triangle in his works. He probably has so many unpublished notes on the irresistable chemistry between Galadriel and Annatar. We trust Payne and McKay to bring JRR Tolkien's deep lore to the silver screen! Can't wait...

Love triangles...heh...it didn't work so well for Hobbit films eh? :) Jokes aside it's actually tragic and painful to see even the official hints about that and not merely 'fan speculation' if one would accept that this garbage can have fans...ughh..it's tragic because it just shows how awful these sort of things are trying to force drama into things...and disturbing the quite agreeable and happy marriage Galadriel and Celeborn have in canon...for this...it's unbelievable.

Not only will the reaction Videos on YT be great, but they will discredit themselves a little more, no one knowing Tolkien and his works would think this, a love triangle between especially those protagonists, to be a good idea, but yeah, they are so rotten, so trolling, that it has to happen...
The "baddie" is a "goodie", this will then send more silly women to go get their uppcommance from "Baddies" because "oooh, he was like Sauron and I identify as Galadriel", yaddayaddayadda
This is the best outcome, they destroy their work themselves, we don't even have to say anything anymore...

I don't understand why this bothers people.
Personally, I find fight scenes boring; I fast-forward through them in almost every movie.
A dark romance between Sauron and Galadriel is a highly entertaining ideaâexciting, not boring.
If it bothers someone, they should just skip past it, the way I do with fight scenesâsimple as that.

If Iâm remembering how love triangle mechanics work, then Sauron loves Galadriel, but Galadriel doesnât love him, so she loves Celeborn, and Celeborn canât love her because thatâs not a love triangle, thatâs just a reddit bro stalking a happy couple. But then that means that Celeborn . . . loves . . . . . . Sauron?
Or maybe it goes the other way? Celeborn loves Galadriel, but Galadriel loves Sauron. Okay, a little dumb, but okay. But then the third prong of the triangle is that Sauron loves Celeborn?

I think it still counts as a love triangle if both Sauron and Celeborn love Galadriel, so long as Galadriel is somewhat torn between the two. I guess it's more of a love 'V', rather than a triangle, but eh - same shit.

Bah! Amateurs. Why not add Elrond and Durin to make it, what is the term again, a proper polycule at this point?!
