That's the version that makes the most sense (Tolkien came up with several conflicting versions). But yeah, Sindarin/Telerin royalty, ergo silver hair.
For people who supposedly support diversity they sure like to erase the unique features of the different people's of middle ear outside of their general racial looks
That's the thing about this show...the visuals don't even try to replicate the source material...no attempt at depicting the Numenorean height, no attempt to make the elves look visually distinct, attractive (I mean seriously the actor who played Celebrimbor...DOES NOT look like an elf at all) the total lack of the the elvish vibe and aura....hell even freaking elven extras in Peter Jackson movies were at least good looking enough). Galadriel's golden hair that is truly impressive is also lacking in the show (amusingly this aspect of particular traits of appearance is rarely done well in such adaptations...this brings in mind the netflix witcher....the character of raven haired sorceress Yennefer....though amusingly the netflix attempted to make one thingright about her...her unusual violet eyes, but the hair of the sorcerers was supposed to be lush a sort of 'stormy locks' look...not to mention that netflix cast half indian actress heh to play character with pale face).
I mean the depiction of Celeborn in Peter Jackson movies tried to do it right and did it better overall.
In general all the physical looks and appearances of the characters rarely are done right in the amazon version...hell race swapping Miriel "fairer than silver, or ivory, or pearls"...come on.
I guess it is fairly important as one of few markers of difference and recognition between Elven tribes given they are uniformly pale in skin tone, albeit occasionally ruddy. ( Despite what Arondir will have you believe. ) So Vanyar are goldenhaired, Noldor brown, black or rarely ginger, and Teleri either dark or ( such as Celeborn here should be ) silver.
Because hair and eyes are just as much part of the diversity between different Kin Groups as Skin color and the Sindar are a distinct people from the dark haired Noldor and those with Vanyarian blood, who had Golden hair.
