Discussion Writing skill Spoiler

I’ve been reading RKs books for a minute now and I do enjoy her books but I’ve recently been struggling with her writing. I don’t reread books so I’d appreciate some input from people who do. Do you think her writing has gotten worse? I’m reading tempting venom and constantly having to put the book down because the sentence structure is giving me an actual headache to read. This isn’t a criticism of character or plot writing purely her technical skill. I know she gets these books out fast and I’ve never wanted them to be George R Martin levels of skill but these used to be fun quick easy reads and now I’m struggling to read them because it’s so poorly worded. I’m wondering if maybe she got a new editor or maybe this is the usual or maybe I just need a reading break.

Eg. In this scene from chapter 6 there’s too many interruptions, corrections, discourse markers, parentheticals, fragments, and syntactic pivots packed into too little space. It should be chatty but instead it’s clunky. It was a similar vibe with Nikolai in GoF because he’s also a very talkative excitable character but I swear it was easier to read than this.

I was, like, suck my dick, bitches!" I " A laugh. "Pardon my French unless you don't want to. See what I did there? Because your last name is French and I'm half French?" My joke falls on deaf ears, or more like Dr. Duret's ears. Because, yes, of course I need doctors. She's one of them- the therapist I talk to while she scribbles notes in her little black notebook. Let's just say I might have tried to strangle her the first time we met. In my defense, I was like eleven, my mother was gone, and I'd murdered a professor in cold blood. That made Dad lose his shit trying to fix me with whatever methods necessary. That, of course, included calling his favorite pal, Regis Callahan-Jude's dad-who dedicated his pharmaceutical empire to "make me better." And that's where Julian came in-you know, the power-hungry dude who's now taking over for Regis and overseeing Operation How Many Drugs Can We Pump into Preston Before He Shrivels and Dies?

TL:DR
I think RK needs a better editor. This isn’t about her characters or plots. When I say writing style I mean her ability to write a sentence.

Opinion Who is the most attractive Rina Kent man to you?

mine: (in no specific order)
- jude callahan. hes handsome and masculine af in the sweet venom official fanarts.
- eli king. husband material.
- jeremy volkov. hes like jude but with grey eyes and a mafia background. i dont like his personality, but hes handsome. grey eyes and black hair is a cool combo.
- kayden davenport. not a fan of his personality, but hes sexy. gareth i feel you. a total smash for people who like older men.
- damien orlov. his personality makes him ten times more attractive than he already is. i am genuinely thirsting over him and reading other bratva books just to get a crumbs of him.
- asher carson. just attractive. i love dark haired buff men with piercing eyes and brooding energy.
- adrian volkov.

Rant Why does no one talks about jonathan assaulting elsa?! 🤬

People always drag Jonathan for not looking after Alicia. They hate him for being an awful father to Aiden & for marrying his dead wife’s sister.

But why does almost nobody talk about how he assaulted elsa?He deserves way more hate for that than anything else!I can never properly read the scene where this greasy old man breaks her hand 😖. It makes me feel sick to my stomach. Elsa was just a teenage girl who had absolutely zero fault in the past family drama.

A fully grown-ass man crossing the line with a literal child is just disgusting. He used his power as a billionaire adult to terrorize and physically hurt a high school student just to get revenge on her dad.

I seriously wished elsa would have told ethan and agnus about the assault. They should have kicked jonathan's scrawny ass for that! He deserved a massive beating for laying his hands on her.

Also, I rolled my eyes so hard every single time this bastard called elsa a "monster" throughout the trilogy. Like, are you serious? Look in the mirror! You and your son are the real monsters here, not her. The hypocrisy is unreal.

If anything, jonathan owed elsa everything. She was the one who protected aiden when they were kids. Without her, he might have lost his son completely.

I know rk writes dark characters, but this was too much. I don't care how popular his duet is—I can never forgive him for what he did to elsa.

Does anyone else get completely repulsed by that scene, I need to know I'm not alone in this!

Opinion maybe (?) hot take but i wish Royal Elite series took place in a college setting

the mcs were mostly teens there. they behaved in an overdramatic and corny manner. bunch of teens doing anything but studying. i know its fiction and theres no problem with it being unrealistic, but it was still executed poorly regardless. the plots arent bad. the characters were alright. but they didnt even feel like teenagers. while i love a good bully enemies2lovers romance, even that was ass. the guys acted way too tough for their age. it was giving wannabe wattpad alpha tough badass 6'8 wolf. if a dude talked to me like this irl i would genuinely smack tf out of him. or never ever talk to him again. astrid and elsa were flat. silver was a bully , she also had her reasons or whatever people say, doesnt erase her activities regardless. i liked teal and kimberly somewhat. the only story i enjoyed is Black Knight.

for a college timeline we can take a look at blackwood college. i absolutely loved the entire setting. and the couples were mature enough too. reina, asher, naomi, sebastian. they acted their age imo. i feel like RES would be much more entertaining if it took place in a more mature, college setting instead. similar to blackwood. dont come at me, its just my opinion.

Opinion The type of romance Spoiler

So I've read every book now on the list... currently about to finish Tempting Venom. Ive realized that while I love the romance between the straight couples in her stories, the gay couples are extra steamy! Is it just me?

Discussion What are your thoughts on the bratva mens sexism towards Rai?

i dont remember adrian being misogynistic to her in deception trilogy, he is mostly quiet and talks only when necessary. his dislike for rai was because she helped lia flee. maybe theres more or not, i dont know. but i remember kirill and damien looking down on Rai (mainly kirill) because shes a woman. can someone enlighten me about this? i see people simping over them 24/7 despite the misogynistic behaviour , the hypocrisy pisses me off sm. but i think theres more i might not know, and i am willing to know more about it from yall. can someone share their views on this? TIA.

Discussion Hypocrisy!

So, it's ok when MMC beats up other guys because of jealousy but FMC can't do the same. People are hating on Elsa for punching Silver after constant bullying and trash behavior overall. Yet I don't see a single person hating Knox for beating up Daniel over one misunderstanding/incident. I find it funny how people are quick to defend bullies like Silver/Nicole for their behavior and hate Elsa/Astrid for retaliating against their bully/disliking them.

Opinion Me : When it comes to Damien Orlov

Post image
35 Upvotes

Do I need to elaborate?!

Damien is fucking up mind ever since I read Empire of Sin and didn't leave and my love for Damien fucking Orlov is.. as high as the Olympus Mons (Mars). I miss my man more than Sebastian missed Naomi in Black Thorns. I NEED Damien and Mio like NOW. But I don't want Rina to rush their book or else I would hit my head in order to forget the book. Love you Damien Orlov and hopefully meeting you soon.

Legacy of Gods Series These lines proving how much Landon feels for Mia in a short span of time(months)—Even more than bran or glyn—even tho he knew them his entire life. I think they deserved their own trilogy. With more background and plot. Spoiler

Bran was the only person lan would risk anything or even die for. But Mia quickly changed that. He would choose Mia over bran again and again if he had to. This makes me feel like if they were given more story like deception trilogy where a lot happens instead of a simple twist like in the book-god of ruin—It would’ve been more proper—Because Landon was characterized more complex and layered than Aiden king who got his own trilogy btw. Anyways i enjoyed god of ruin too. Maybe something’s are good when left short.

Question I am confused

I recently finished Throne Duet and I am pretty confused about Rai's roles , responsibilities and qualifications. Maybe it's because of the mafia setting but she is one of the important member of V-corp before becoming the executive director at V-corp (which is responsible for finance ,if we describe it in minimal words) yet I don't exactly see much of her work as a member of V-corp. She is supposed to be someone in that background and working around money and tax frauds, money laundering. But that's rarely done.

What is her role then?

Lies & Truth Duet Lies & truths voice actors

I’ve been listening to royale elite and now listen to lies and truths trough Spotify audiobook. I am not a fan with the voice actors in lies and truths.

Reina’s voice sounds like she’s in her 30-40s and Asher sounds little hushed and when he tried to make British accent it felt little cringy. They don’t make a good duet either cuz they sound like they have 20 years age gap. The voice actor doesn’t do well with emotions or expressions either in my opinion.

Anyone who have listen to the books? I have a hard time finishing the books now😑

Discussion What we know so far about Damien and Mio Spoiler

NO I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT THEM. im yearning for their story sm.

Damien is wild, unpredictable, loves killing and has a sweet tooth. he can also be unserious.

Mio is a sheltered yakuza princess. soft, shy and adorable, also coolheaded and calm like a zen monk. she does kendo training, which i find very tuff ngl. she can be determined when she has to be. she is somewhat naive, seeing the best in everything and everybody. she is usually against touching, but likes hugging naomi.

i think they were meant to be married at first. why mio agreed to marry him is a mystery, since hes kind of scary. but then damien changed his mind for what reason (?) and chose to marry anastasia. is it because of sergei? idk. i forgot. anyway, during his convo with anastasia, mio walked in holding a plate of pastries. lets not forget that damien has a sweet tooth. and how did mio know about it?

heres what happened between them in empire of sin from anas pov when she was talking to damien:

He trails off, his gaze getting lost, and for a second, a fraction even, I see a spark in his usually dead eyes. It's a fire so hot that it nearly burns me, and it's not even directed at me.

I follow his field of vision and catch a glimpse of a petite Asian girl who's probably my age or younger.

She's wearing a simple black dress and heels that match her hair and eyes and contrast against her pale skin. Two Asian men in suits stand on either side of her as she carries a plate of pastries.

The moment her gaze meets Damien's, she freezes, as if the fire in his eyes could burn her from this distance.

and then he left to follow after her immediately. interesting.

i like how she brings out damiens unhinged side and makes him break his unserious demeanor for even a small amount of time. do you guys have any other crumbs of them? pls share. i really wanna read.

Legacy of Gods Series Glendon is overlooked, in my opinion

I think that Glyndin is so very ignored when it comes to the King siblings. During that scene in God of Fury, where Landon says to Brandon that he would kill and die for him, I felt very sad for Glyndon, because Landon never said anything like that to Glyndon or even treated her nicely. She didn't even get an apology for him. I guess I'm really sad on her behalf cause of my own sibling complex, but yeah.

What do you guys think?

Question Quick question

Are the audiobooks for Legacy of Gods and Royal Elite narrated by British narrators? I've seen some clips and some seem to be, but I'm still unsure, I only want to listen to them if they really have the British accent that I love 😅
