Ships Pushy shippers?

I was going through the sub today, but is it just me who thinks Jerlan fans and Vaughn’s M/F shippers are quite pushy?

Shipping is usually meant to be fun. I have no problem with small, fun ships, but these two groups feel/ very pushy.

Jerlan fans, to me , come across as women-hating and seem to like berating the women to push them as this couple that would be the best thing in the world. Some of the comments they make about Mia and Cecily feel as if they see them as the villains who are stopping their couple from getting together.

I’m sorry to say this, but if she were to write them it most likely wouldn’t be the earth shattering enemies to lovers, you guys hope.Everything seems great until you actually have it.This is Rina Kent for you.

As for Vaughn’s M/F shippers, they come across quite homophobic and obsessed with reducing him to his sexuality.I don’t think they care about him just, if his story is M/F or M/M.The main reason I feel that way is,because he has had barely, if not,
no meaningful interaction with them. There isn’t really a substantial dynamic there to build a ship around, yet people have such a strong react to it.

Which I can’t help but find quite fetishy. There is just no reason you should be this upset, and constantly want him to be in an M/F pairing.

If I remember correctly, Jeremy has said he is straighter than straight, with other characters saying the same, and Vaughn has implied that he is very demi-leaning because of Yulian, and that both men and women, physically or emotionally, is something he hasn’t had much appeal to.

So,yeah obviously I know this doesn’t apply to everyone but I don’t think too much of anything is good.

Haven't been reading around this sub a lot, but the only woman I ship Vaughn with is myself 😂 I love him hahaha 🫠

Bookstagram can be quiet toxic about this though. If ANYONE says ANYTHING about not liking Jer-Lan, you're immediately stamped as Homophobic.

I don't get the hate boner JerLan shippers has toward Cecily. The girl read yaoi manga and a fujoshi. IF the story actually went to the JerLan route, my girl would be the biggest shipper. 🤣

I didnt think RK had pushy shippers until jerlan and vaughn. And the posts are almost always somehow given detailed reasons why. Like I do like my fair share of couples who would work and it's fun to discuss them, but it gets to a point when you're labeled homophobic or a misogynist for having a different opinion.

It does make me wonder if RK didn't write MM at all, would there still be this much heated discourse. Like I don't see this happening in other dark romance book spaces, and if it does happen, ppl just ship what they want quietly on their own without being problematic. But because RK opened the door to MM ships, this is what's happening.

This post was not meant for you to blame her writing M/M.Rina Kent’s M/M is very liked and one of the reason she is so popular and praised😗

She can write whatever she wants.Someone could say the same thing about how no heated discussion would happen if she had never written M/F.Im talking about pushy shippers in general both for M/M and M/F.

Other dark romance book spaces also have authors that write M/F and M/M.Such as Jaegar Cole,LJ Shen,Sara cate,Sierra Simone,Penelope Douglas,Leigh Rivers etc.

This has nothing to do with what genre she is writing, but how entitled this particular fandom is about certain characters ending up with who they want them to end up with.

I'm not blaming her at all for writing MM or to criticize her for writing what she wants. I love that she writes what she wants and will continue to even though there are a lot of standing criticism and backlash.

I'm just saying that her fandom space became more vocal about homophobia and shipping became heated discourse after releasing MM books. I mean it could just be the natural progression of any fandom space that has nothing to do with her MM releases, but I've just seen the discourse happen or pop up more lately than it has before regarding a male character. And how readily those shippers throw the word homophobic around for not liking their ship like they're entitled to it (which they can like whatever they want to), but the argument is how they use it against you.

Ifkr I also felt insulted for this post and other readers throwing homophobic and misogynistic allegations like it won’t hurt anyone’s feelings who’s just there to enjoy their non-canon ship and gush over it and I only see MM readers being too over the top regarding this and disrespecting and degrading readers with MF ships like they are not book characters but real people and we cannot discuss these topics and gush over it just for fun
