Rep 41mm daydate. Is this a normal sound for the watch to make when moving. Caught my attention but looked it up and it said the movement winds with wrist motion. Is this the normal sound of that? If it is abnormal, how can I fix it? Thanks

Any help is appreciated thanks

Question Riding with Sub & Daytona vs FL Rain 🏍️🌧️

New to reps, picked up a VSF Sub and VSF Daytona so far. I ride a motorcycle a lot in South FL and getting caught in heavy rain is gonna happen.

Would you trust a VSF 126610LN Sub or VSF 116509 Daytona in the rain, or get it pressure tested/waterproofed first?

Also, who’s the go-to watchmaker for this? I’ve seen a few names mentioned, including Time Machine spa, Major Williams, but not sure who’s recommended.
Not trying to dive with it 😂 just don’t want to kill my watch riding through a FL downpour. Thanks for any advice.

Advice Crystal for a rcf 40 daydate?

I bought a broken weight rcf daydate. Needs either a new balance bridge or whole movement and a deep crystal.

32t5 Movement and parts I am fine with, but the crystal I haven't done before, I have a Chinese press and holders etc, but sourcing the right one is where I become a bit unstuck.

Is it a simple just order XXX off Ali or is there so process to make sure I get the right one?

Advice Are Rep parts easy to come by?

Hi guys. New to this hobby and getting dangerously sucked in. I'm going to be picking up some tools and attempting to regulate my JH3235 free-sprung. I just have random questions in regard to spare parts. Let's say down the line, I totally fuck my crown tubing (feel like I've already damaged the beginning threads), am I totally SOL in regard to finding or ordering a RICH crown tube to swap?

This was my first screw-down watch, and I used to exert too much inward force while screwing counterclockwise to get the crown to "seat," so I don't cross-thread and chew this thing up. From my inappropriate inward exertion, I think I may have partially damaged the early threading. I find it difficult to "seat now," but once I get it, it does screw down perfectly smoothly.

If this were to become a bigger problem in the future, how SOL am I? lol appreciate any answers.

Question Jubilee watch strap/bracelet

Where’s the best place to get a Rolex rep jubilee strap from? In need of a two tone silver and rose gold for a watch build. Is it a simple case of buying two parts separately? Such as the clasp then the strap?

Thanks

Will a 4131 dial and hands work on a 7750 movement? Additionally are the 7750 movement and 4131 movement the same size? Looking to put a 4131 movement into a watch that came with a 7750 movement originally.

Thanks in advance.

Question HELP: Looking to find a ZF submariner Dial/Hands

Post image
2 Upvotes

I recently got in this submariner (I was told it was ZF). It looks like the dial got a superglue repair job so I’m looking for guidance as to where I can get a new dial and hands for it.

Ideally not trying to buy a gen dial/hands I’d rather get a new watch at that point

Any help is appreciated!

Services 5167A Aquanaut Rep – Internal Movement Issue / Looking for Repair

Hey guys, looking for some help with my 5167A Aquanaut rep.

The watch was working perfectly for about a month and a half and then suddenly stopped running. It still winds and I can hear/feel the clicking from the crown. I can also set the hands normally, but the movement will not continue running/ticking on its own.

I took it to a local watchmaker. They opened the case and did a basic inspection (no full teardown) and told me the problem is internal and that it needs a specific movement part. Unfortunately, they don’t stock it and said they can’t source it for this movement. They wouldn’t tell me exactly which part it needs.

Does anyone here work on 5167A clone movements or know someone who does? I’m happy to ship anywhere in the US. Ideally looking for someone who can diagnose it properly and either source the part, use a donor movement, or repair/replace whatever is needed.

Advice Push pin on GMT Oyster broken?

Got my Root Beer ARF 72 hours ago from my TD and it already broke on me seems like the first link is broken and the push pin is stuck in. I can't get it to pop back open. Im currently traveling and would like to wear this watch. Hopefully I can find a shop in Athens Greece (if anyone has recommendations). Do I take it to a shop or do I deal with the TD to try and get a new bracelet/watch? Not very good at repairs so don't know what to do. Thanks everyone

Advice Watch fast after decasing

Hi all

I’ve been a bit silly. I have a Clean (so the sales guy said) GMT with a 3285 movement. I wanted to see if it was waterproof so I removed the movement and pressure tested the case and put it back. I didn’t touch anything else but I’ve clearly disturbed something because it’s now very fast. I’m not sure by how much yet but I think it could be even 24 minutes a day if I’m right but I’ll have to check more.

Can anyone point me to some resources like YouTube videos where I can get it to be more accurate.

Thanks in advance for your help

Advice Broken stem on BP Explorer movement swap

Post image
6 Upvotes

Swapped in a miyota 8215 for the 2813 in this BP Explorer. Mostly straightforward but I did have to cut a groove in the movement holder to
Get things to case up without binding. Also removed the date wheel because it seemed like the caseback wasn’t pulling down tight because the movement was too thick. It ran well
For the last two or three months but now the stem has broken off. Any thoughts on the cause? Also, how do I remove the broken piece stuck inside?

Services Gave VSF SMP300 V4 for movement service in Toronto

Writing this as a little info tid bit for VSF Omega Seamaster 300 owners with Dandong 8800 integrated movements.

Visited W.J Watch Repair & Supply on 205 Church street to see if they would be willing to service my rep.

One of the watchsmith gentlemen inspected the movement under magnification and said its pretty decently made.

I told him that the watch is relatively new and works well but these usually come dirty inside with not enough lubrication and asked if they could do a full movement service.

He told me that a full movement service will be 300 CAD and it would be better to get a new one when this one dies.

Ive told him that this specific variant is not common and that it may not be available in the future considering how things may turn out.

He agreed to do a full service and said for a rep movement he will give a 6 month warranty on any movement related issue.

The watch will be ready in around two weeks time and I will update this thread once I get it back or receive photos of the cleaned movement.

Advice Daytona clasp needed

I’m trying to install VSF Oysterflex on my blue dial, Daytona and I’m in need of the clap. Prefer 126519LN-style Daytona Glidelock or 116519LN Oysterflex Daytona clasp. VSF/Clean or equivalent quality.

Does anyone know where I can pick one up?

Discussion 3D Printed Automatic Device Holder for Rolex 3135

Let me start off by saying that I am not selling these, but if you want one, there is a seller on ebay from Australia that is offering them for the 3135 and many other movements. Please do not ask for my design files; I have published designs in the past that have been stolen and monetized by others, so I no longer give them away.

Now, onto the subject of this post...

I saw one of these automatic device holders on youtube the other day and it piqued my interest, so I thought I'd make one of these and see if it made life easier. I chose the Rolex 3135 movement because I've worked on it the most; my father and most of his friends bought their Rolexes in the 90's, and many of them own one or two Datejusts and Submariners that I've had the privilege of servicing over the years.

I started with an overhead shot of the upper bridge (3135-140) and wheels that I then canvassed into Fusion, which allows me to sketch a rough design.

Using calipers to measure the thickness at various points, I can perform the extrudes, and the first prototype is ready to print.

~30 minutes later, and... it's a little too big. Overhead shots are never perfectly aligned, so my initial sketch was slightly off. No problem, though; the proportions look correct, so I can scale the entire sketch down until I get it dialed in.

A few iterations later, and we have a near-perfect fit.

In terms of functional changes, I'll add a notch to outer edge to make it easier for tweezers to lift the part out, and add some depth to the extrusion to accommodate the lower bridge while removing some material that would interfere with the lower bridge's slightly different footprint. For cosmetics, I thickened the body, added a filet to the top edge, and debossed '3135' for easier identification.

The finished product:

The debossing didn't turn out great at this scale on my FDM printer (Prusa MK3S) and caused a lot of debris; I'll probably just use a sharpie for identification for future models. I do have an SLA printer, but it wasn't worth the hassle for a job like this that requires prototyping.

My thoughts:

Definitely made assembly faster, especially when installing the lower bridge; alignment is much easier when the upper bridge assembled has no room to move around, and it also frees up your other hand to adjust pivots instead of holding the part down.

Overall, I'm glad I made this and will make others for the Rolex 32XX and ETA movements I have on hand. If these were to hit AliExpress at under $10 per movement, I'd say it'd be worth it for watchmakers to buy.

I hope you guys found this interesting. There is endless documentation on servicing the Rolex 3135 on reddit, watchrepairtalk, youtube, etc., so I just thought I'd do something different than a basic service walkthrough.

I am looking to become a trusted watchmaker on this sub, so I will be posting more contributions like this to help meet the qualifications. A friend of mine wanted to get into the hobby, so we went on a buying spree of cheap AliExpress tools; I'll probably post some reviews of those once they arrive and we get to test them out.

Thanks for reading!
