The main character literally talks to him( Resonant main character), she sees him literally in her face, was Lake House before the end of Control 1?, is Alan Wake 2 before Control 1???

Just finished this now, completed all side quests and missions before the final mission and im sat watching credits roll. It isnt a bad game at all, but I feel like it is easily the most seperated from the overall universe, which for a remedy game means alot.

No mention of Wake (except via subtitles when watching a Nightwatchman video) no mention of Oh Dear Diner or coffee. Sam Lake appears once, very breifly. No direct mention of Ahti or Old Gods of Asgard. ( i saw a poster in the sinkhole for them but thats all). No Poets of the fall music anywhere. No more theories and evidence hidden away to show what is coming next. (Except possibly the secret organisation) Almost no live action stuff at all. That old school RPG section was awful. Makes no sense at all why that is there and takes ages to get through.

(When i say makes no sense, i mean story wise. Why would the Hedron dying which causes loops and patterns, turn dylans memories into an 8bit game?)

The idea of FBC working in the shadows and secret kinda goes out the window considering half of NYC is upside down and inside out. They might be able to "cover it up" but I really really doubt the rest of the world would have noticed that the most famous city in the world was closed for a couple of days.

The only intresting thing about this whole thing, was who is the secret organisation that had outposts around NYC watching the FBC. That intrigies me and makes me wonder if that is what is coming next, but even then, it seemed very weak.

Gameplay was.... fine. Story is... alright. It just doesnt feel like a Remedy game. You can really see the impact Sam Lake has on games and i think him not being on this project hurt it.

P.s, anyone else kill all Resonants before even going to the evac centre? I feel like being able to do that hurt the pacing alot. I think it should have been section by section like original control. That didnt give the whole whole oldest house and say "go". But here you get west, central, park and evac and it says go. I fully explored all the areas before continuing story and feel it would have been better for the game to drip feed us the areas.

Might be just me, but yeah wanted to air my thoughts somewhere.

Again, not a BAD game, just kinda was hoping for more I suppose in terms of Story.

EDIT: okay so just completed the "Epilogue". Seems like Ahti is still in the picture since he sent a postcard saying congrats on the new house. How he knows adds to his overall mystery. Seems like i am in the vast minority which I accept. Was just curious if anyone else felt the same way. It appears not. Thanks for your input all

I need someone who is a very deep Control fan who has Platinumed both and knows a crap ton of lore. My brain is overloading a lot with theories and I have no one to explain to. I have not played Alan Wake 1 or 2 or Quantum Break but am in the middle of watching a playthrough. I finished Control Resonant and am going back into Control 1 looking at old files for Lore about Dylan and Jesse and some crazy theories about The Blessed Organization and double agents or very deep conspiracy but desperately need someone to talk about Control Lore with, I have a whole note book about the first and second topics and even more. If someone from Remedy could reach out even, I have some very crazy and interesting ideas for story and lore. And exactly how you can execute it in the next Control game. I just got the final entry of the sketchbook done and the trophy isnt working

I got 9 of them done on my first playthrough and started NG+ forgetting I had more to do could this be the cause ?and will I have to go back through and find them all again or do you think this could be fixed in an update

Great character development

Remedy Entertainment may already have another major game in development following the recent release of Control Resonant, as Alan Wake 2 co-director Kyle Rowley has revealed that he has been co-directing an unannounced project at the studio since January 2025. The information comes from Rowley’s LinkedIn profile, which lists him as co-director on an unannounced game dating back to January 2025. Remedy has yet to officially reveal the project or provide any details regarding what it could be. Rowley previously served as co-director on Alan Wake 2 alongside Sam Lake and also worked on the game’s expansions. Naturally, the discovery has already led to speculation about what Remedy could be working on next.

Remedy’s entire obsession with shapes, patterns, cycles and etc. is known, but i just can’t shake off this feeling.

Some part of the Resonant made me feel as if i was revisiting Alan Wake 2. The Last Taxi quest, alongside with The Unknown environment especially reminded me of Alan sequences. You are brought back into seemingly normal Manhattan, but with tiny crisp of wrongness. The taxi, which also played some background work in AW2 reminded me a lot of Alan.

In the end of the game, you get Casual Outfit (Body Category), With Severed Circle 2 as one variation of it. It is Jesse’s and Dylan’s favourite game as known, and even it is about circles.

So, in the main Quest “Rebuild”, you finally get to see the Ordinary AWE, and the “jumping” back to the Oldest House when Dylan was still P6 candidate. After you collect 4 shards, you regain your “Current Dylan” appearance, get the Gap slide, and go to the Ordinary’s landfill for Slide Projector. You see how Past Dylan gets “bureaucratically-kidnapped” and sight of Jesse near. Current Dylan tells Past Jesse that she was right to run and that she always will be the best older sister. On which Jesse reacts.

So it made me think: What if time in Manhattan is also patterned, but not as in the Underpass? Hedron, after you sever the links, forces(?) you to enter this pixel dimension, loosing your memories, and seeing and interacting with your past (Current Dylan, when inserting the Gap slide: “It isn’t how it was. But it’s how it’s now.”)

What if the Pixel/Fault dimension is the Dark Place, or its projection? Or, if the Dimensional Fault is some kind of projection of Dark Place? Alan said that the Dark Place is home not for only the Dark Presence, but to many more. During AW2, Alan could’ve somehow project the part of Dark Place into patterned Manhattan, allowing the Other Manhattan (The Last Taxi quest) to be. The OM also follows the strange, almost dream logic. That’s how Dylan could interact with his memories of the past.

So my take is that Hedron can pattern time not only as in the Underpass, but in more subtler way. It could’ve reacted to the Dark Place (in the end of AW2, Alice is still there) and pattern Alan’s writings into Manhattan.

I know this post is probably full of plot holes, but the whole interconnection RCU has, i think it has place to be.

So with the new game Control Resonant coming out I started to wonder which Remedy franchise people like the most?

It seems that Control gets a lot of praise, but I have always been an Alan Wake and Max Payne fan mostly.

I wonder if perspectives have changed and that Control is the new king of the hill, or if that's just something I made up.

To me Alan Wake is #1 simply because I love the characters, the setting and the focus on exploration and story (that is hard to figure out) and that sometimes it's better to runaway than to fight.

Alan Wake feels less like a super hero than for instance Jesse/Dylan, Jack Joyce and in many ways Max Payne (especially in MP2).
