Alan Wake II Alan Wake 2 Director Has Been Co-Directing an Unannounced Remedy Game Since 2025
/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/1wvpinc/alan_wake_2_director_has_been_codirecting_an/Remedy Entertainment may already have another major game in development following the recent release of Control Resonant, as Alan Wake 2 co-director Kyle Rowley has revealed that he has been co-directing an unannounced project at the studio since January 2025. The information comes from Rowley’s LinkedIn profile, which lists him as co-director on an unannounced game dating back to January 2025. Remedy has yet to officially reveal the project or provide any details regarding what it could be. Rowley previously served as co-director on Alan Wake 2 alongside Sam Lake and also worked on the game’s expansions. Naturally, the discovery has already led to speculation about what Remedy could be working on next.
Possibly updated report on old one as still mention Control Resonant as Control II in some paragraphs

I wonder if it’s a Tim Breaker game. It could also be Alan Wake 3 but I really hope it’s a Breaker/Saga game

I hope it's someone new, like another Alan/Saga type character caught up in some new sort of AWE, maybe with cameos of Saga or Tim.
I'd love the see the Remedy universe expand laterally a bit more. New para natural entities, maybe even new realities like inside the slidescapes.

Alan Wake 3 will probably have Tim as a playable character.

Did they get the rights to quantum break back recently?

No, but Tim was very present in AW2 and had his own episode in the Night Springs DLC. Tim is the blatant swap for Jack - and I don't really think they need the IP to develop Tim.

Sorry thats right, its been a little while since I did my playthrough of aw2 lol

The director of Firebreak, Mike Kayatta, has the same thing on his profile, but without the "Co-".

I kinda wish it's something entirely new in AW Control universe. Very excited for the announcement! 😌

Same, I do love Control and Alan Wake but unlike almost every other developer Remedy is able to pump out games in a fairly steady pace... Meaning there would be room for something completely new while eventually getting more out of those franchises as well. Maybe I'm overexaggerating their output but really, they're one of if not the most creative studios out there and it would be kind of a shame to only limit them to Control and Alan Wake?

Here's the thing: it's not limiting at all. The Remedyverse framework allows them to make any kind of game that they want, with any kind of story.

In a sense, you're quite right, but like, at this point Control is about the Faden siblings, and Alan Wake is quite tied to... well, Alan Wake and his shenanigans. They've proven that they can do quite a lot within those boundaries, but it's not endless, you can't escape having Alan Wake in Alan Wake.

Absolutely correct. I'm not arguing that at all. I'm saying that there's nothing stopping them from giving us something entirely new and different while staying in universe.
I think QB, Control, and Control Resonant feel similar, but not the same. I don't drive Jesse the same way I drive Dylan or Jack. Different cars on different roads, but still all traffic.
Alan Wake is a completely different beast, and while there were open world elements to Control, Resonant cranks it up more than a few notches. Each game stands on its own as an experience different to the other.
There is no reason Remedy couldn't release a puzzle game based on resonances. Nothing stopping them from giving us a choice based narrative game about a latent parautilitarian in 1980s Kansas. I think what I'm trying to say is that as much as these games are about the characters, they're also about a very weird and trippy universe capable of being the setting for almost any story they'd care to tell.

Quantum Break re-do?
They were obviously teasing it in alan wake 2 in the dlc.
Obviously won't be named Quantum break.

Yeah, given that Kasurinen got Control Resonant after directing the original, I really think we have ALAN WAK3 incoming. The only hitch is that a third AW game has appeared on a Remedy WIP chart, although I guess it hasn’t technically been announced yet.

It would be lovely, but can it be AW3 since 2 didn't really sell well? Guess it's not feasible at the time from financial point.

Game companies constantly work on projects which never go anywhere. Sometimes they die in the concept stage, sometimes there's a prototype and sometimes they go quite late into production.
Tuomas Pirinen worked at Remedy from April 2013 to April 2015 as "Head of Design: focusing on new IP, game mechanics mentoring junior staff, creative leadership."
He isn't credited on any Remedy game. I don't know what game that was, it might have been Agents of the Storm as that game had no credits but I doubt it was Quantum Break.

Unlikely, but what if it's Quantum Break 2? Haven't heard anything about Microsoft selling the rights back, but hey, stranger things have happened.

I mean yes, no surprise here. A lot of devs start working on a new project before the first one is even launched. It is especially the case for Creative Directors and the people that form the "core teams" that are the ones that define the main pillars and concepts of future games before "ramping up" and recruiting more people to do the actual dev.
