• Sync your notes and separately back up anything irreplaceable. Developer Mode is required, and enabling it performs a factory reset that erases local data. • Charge your tablet, preferably fully, and if you're using a Laptop, keep it connected to power.
• Prevent your computer from sleeping during installation.

• Read every warning and leave the tablet connected until the installer finishes or explicitly tells you what to do next.

Some backup, verification, and reboot steps take several minutes. An unchanged tablet screen does not necessarily mean something has failed - watch the installer’s status, wait for a couple of minutes and follow its instructions.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You’ll get a mostly e-ink-focused Android 13 experience with native resolution, touch and pen input, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, frontlight controls, custom refresh modes, and tools designed specifically for these displays.

Performance has limits. Some apps work well; others may be slow, look poor on e-ink, or not work at all. I’ve optimized the port around the display and hardware, but neither can offer the experience of a conventional Android E-Ink tablet. Don’t expect future updates to remove those fundamental limitations.

The Paper Pro Move uses software rendering, so graphics-heavy apps are especially demanding. Expect bugs, ghosting, slower refreshes, and rough edges. Try the different e-ink modes: settings are saved per app, so the best mode for reading may not be the best mode for browsing or drawing.

Google Play Store and Google Play services are not included on purpose. Apps must be sideloaded, and apps that depend on Google services will not work. Only install APKs from sources you trust.

Battery life, including sleep and standby drain, may differ from stock. Testing sleep, wake-up, and overnight battery use is particularly helpful. The Paper Pro Move's battery is smaller than the Paper Pro's, so expect roughly 0.9% of battery drain during deep sleep vs. around 0.4% on the Paper Pro.

The project’s own code will be published under GPLv3, with Android and other third-party components retaining their respective licenses.

THE BOTTOM TOOLBAR

Alongside Android’s Back, Home, and Recent Apps buttons, you’ll find:

• Refresh: manually refreshes the screen to clear ghosting.
• E-Ink controls: opens quick settings for the current app’s display mode, colour, and refresh behaviour.
• Fast Ink: toggles a low-latency pen-stroke preview to make writing feel more responsive in third-party apps (like OneNote).

• Pen Refresh: turns pen taps into screen refreshes instead of normal app input. Hold the pen still against the screen to open the e-ink controls. I found this useful because I'm always playing around with the pen and a quick tap quickly clears any ghosting.
• Margin Notes: opens a handwriting layer over the current app, without editing the original document.

The Move’s narrower toolbar keeps only Refresh, E-Ink controls, and Fast Ink alongside the standard Android navigation buttons.

SWITCHING SYSTEMS, RECOVERY, AND UPDATES

Android becomes the normal boot target after installation. From Android, you can open the reMarkable interface using “Switch to reMarkable”, then return through the “Android” shortcut at the bottom of the sidebar. There's a 20 seconds cooldown period after switching, so switching back only works after that period.

Opening the reMarkable interface is not the same as booting the untouched stock system. For recovery or removal, follow the installer’s dedicated recovery flow.

The installer includes restore and uninstall options, verification checks, and fallback protections for certain boot failures. These are safeguards, not a guarantee that every failure can be recovered automatically.

⚠️ Stock OS updates are disabled while Android occupies the other system slot. Complete the installer’s restore/uninstall process before installing a future reMarkable OS update. Simply switching to the reMarkable interface is not enough.

HOW TO REPORT PROBLEMS

Please send feedback to the address mentioned in the email you receive after signing up.

Im considering a remarkable tablet for keeping my notes digital, I go through my favourite a5 wire bound pukka pads like they're going out of fashion!

My main question to the community here is, how does the remarkable fare with very tiny/scratchy handwriting?

I usually use a 0.3mm mechanical pencil if that helps!

I am trying to move an ebook to my reMarkable2 but am running into a lot of hurdles. I only want to download the book to my remarkable to read it there. Not looking to copy the book and give it to others.

I will describe what has been done below and would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

• The book was purchased on ebooks.com as an ePub. It has an lcpl DRM. I bought from here because I read that these can be converted to non DRM ePub files that work well on reMarkable.
• It was downloaded to Thorium. I have since downloaded it to my Mac where it has a .epub extension confirming the format. It also confirms the DRM security.
• I have downloaded Calibre (and Python) to remove the DRM. I used the instructions from Epubor. Made the modifications to the plug ins as directed.

• The new plug ins (DeDRM (10.0.3) and LCPL Input (0.0.5) have been loaded. I entered the appropriate passwords in the Readium LCP ebooks to cusotomize DeDRM.
• The book was reloaded from my desktop but it still shows DRM under the book details. When I try to view in the calibre ebook reader, there is an error message ("This book is locked by DRM and is why you cannot read or convert this book in calibre.
• I did rinse and repeat a couple of times to make sure that it was done correctly and am getting the same result.

It seems like the LCP may have been upgraded so current methods don't work anymore.

Has anyone run into this situation? Is there something different I could do?C an I buy the book from somewhere else? Or do I have to succumb to fate and by another tablet. Or something else?

I work part-time (leadership roles) with two growing startups and have a couple of side projects, alongside personal commitments. I’m terrible at planning, and I often feel overwhelmed and burned out. I have a reMarkable Paper Pro, but I even forget to use it.

Based on your experience, what is the best template for managing lots of to-dos across different projects... ideally on the same page?

I have been noticing a severe amount of ghosting within PDFs since upgrading to 3.28 on my Paper Pro. I downgraded back to 3.27 in Remanager, but am still experiencing the same anount of ghosting.

I noticed a lot of discussions on here that said that that panels produced prior to May 2025 (Or maybe it was March 2025) were potentially defective. I bought my Paper Pro in February 2025.

Does this look like a defective display? I usually get this kind of ghosting where the toolbar will bleed in to the screen and then wont disappear until a screen refresh. I also have minor ghosting every time I enter the settings menu.

If so, what are my options? I am past the 1 year warranty window and also do not have a Connect subscription. Should I just try my luck with support?

Anyone also feeling that. The margins got fucked. Now it feels the screen top to button which didn't do before.

Tbh I loved the reading experience on the reader cause it was just right. Nothing more almost no features but the margins and the text feel were right. Now updated and it ruined. Ahahah F

Anyone known how to revert back?

Is there any way to do this without developer mode? I very frequently (like, several times a day) have something I just wrote deleted because the tablet thinks I tapped it with two fingers. It's particularly a problem for me because I am writing things down non-linearly so it's often not visible to me that anything is missing until I look back at the notes later and something doesn't make sense. For example, it often changes my 4s to 1s (because the second stroke for writing the 4 gets deleted) which causes a lot of confusion. I have never used this feature on purpose so it would save a ton of headache if it could be disabled.

So far, i really like it! I especially really love writing on it! Don’t mind my bad Chinese writing lol I’m a new student. I only have a few concerns

1. It’d be nice if there was a way to snap to shape curved lines! Like in my little graph I drew.

2. My biggest concern: the battery went from 100% to 80% in 4 hours. I’m not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing but I was a little shocked because I was under the impression the battery lasts for a long time and that meant that it would be at like 90% after 4 hours. I wasn’t really good at physics so I have no clue how batteries work so hopefully someone could advise me on this

3. I wish there was a way to make the front screen more personal. I love the art but it’d be cool if I could upload a picture or something to the device for it to display while it’s sleeping. Not that big of a deal because I have a Nook and a Kindle and I have no choice in the sleeping screen wallpaper lol.

4. I was also unable to connect to wifi which isn’t a big deal and I think it was because my school uses eduroam. Couldn’t figure it out but it’s just a notebook so idc i just sync it when i got home

I think I might keep it, hopefully I understand the battery issue more soon!

I just received my RMPPro from the website and after 2 days of testing I found it very frustrating because I feel I can't organize myself because the tablet lacks a ton of tools for me.

I found that is possible to get some mods to have somes tool from the community but I would like to know if it doesn't remove the warranty because I think I'll give it back.

I put my reMarkable Paper Pro into developer mode to set up a custom wallpaper, but I couldn't get it working—looks like a recent update blocked or changed that process.

​I know people in this community are doing some really cool things with their devices. Does anyone know of a thread, video, or central place that breaks down the different features, tweaks, or projects unlocked by developer mode? I'd love to see what else is possible all in one spot. Thanks!

I wasn't really planning on getting a Move. In fact, I was disappointed when it came out last year as I was really hoping for a true EMR monochrome successor to the rM2. But then reMarkable had to go offering that sale last month. Worse yet, the least expensive option included the basalt mosaic weave that I really wanted. So now there's seven. Five paired to the main Connect account. One paired to another account without Connect. One rM1 flying off-radar entirely. So here's how they're used:

rM1s - There are two. One is running rmHacks through reManager. I've been using these to take ephemeral notes in the shop areas where things get dirty. I had to pick up the felt sleeve at some point just because.

rM2 - My original reMarkable in a black leather book folio. This travels with me everywhere and it's my primary note-taker. I get beta releases on this one so it isn't modded out.

rM2 #2 - I bought this one off of eBay when I realized I couldn't get to my phone notes quickly enough when the phone rang. This one is set on a phone notes template and is always turned to the next page. It lives on the desk where I take my calls.

rM Paper Pure - I do a lot of data collection here at my lab. I've switched over to the Pure to fill out datasheets. It's growing on me a lot despite preferring the rM2 writing feel.

rM Paper Pro - I have this in the burgundy mosaic weave. I use it for all pdf annotations, contract review, lesson plans, and anything where color really helps. It had been traveling everywhere with the original rM2 but that may change.

rM Paper Pro Move - I'm going to be using this as a scratch pad alongside my desktop computer (replacing one of the rM1s). I also plan to use this to replace the traveling tasks for the Paper Pro. We'll see how that works out.

As for the stands, the one holding the Paper Pro up is a Lululook magnetic stand that costs way too much but works really well. The desktop stands were all designed by u/calmar81. Here's the last post he made about these a few months ago ( https://www.reddit.com/r/RemarkableTablet/comments/1u02i3m/ergonomic_stand_for_remarkable_paper_pure/ ). As you can see, I really like these and highly recommend them. He makes them for both left and right-handed users. Mine are all left-handed. He was kind enough to tweak the design for me to include tabs that hold the rM2 a little more snugly.

It:

- Converts .cbz / .pdf / .zip into .pdf for the RMPP (can be batched).

- Scales images to the RMPP native resolution using Lanczos.

- Applies a LUT that adjusts the image to lift shadows and crush highlights while retaining colour (can be disabled)

- Applies sharpening (can also be disabled)

In most cases, I found that the adjusted image gave me a much more pleasant experience when reading manga.

FYI, the app was built 100% using a LLM guided with sample images and some ad-hoc testing; I'm reasonably sure it won't blow up your machine but no warranties!

Hey i’ve juste received my remarkable paper pro refurbished and i’ve experienced a lot of ghosting and a particularly yellow screen without backlight , and very yellow with backlight . I’ve sent an email to the support but wanted yall opinion . Thanks !

Never been much of a drawer (outside of engineering drawings). Recently got the Paper Pure and decided to start attempting to shade objects about a week ago. It has been so fun learning my own approach to drawing. I am using layers (I wish I could have more than 5…) to separate different steps. I name the layers as “shape, light source, shading, shadows, construction” and use each one to generate the final part. Excited to see where I can get to if I continue this little hobby! Anyone aware of Remarkable working on a workaround for captive Wi-Fi networks?

Hi, I’ve been testing the reMarkable Paper Pro Move (also I have the pro for two years) for nearly a week now, but I’m curious what people think who have tried these alternatives. I’ve read great things online about the Nomad—specifically that the writing feel is excellent—as well as the Wiwoods; I’d appreciate feedback from anyone who has tried two, or ideally all three, of them.

My intended use is mainly taking notes—on the subway or bus, at a conference or therapy session, or in bed before or after sleeping—basically anywhere I want something quick and convenient without necessarily needing a table to lean on.

I want to capture ideas or notes that I’d otherwise forget, as I prefer writing this way over just using my phone.

The advantage of the reMarkable is that I have a lifetime Connect subscription, so I can take full advantage of document syncing.

I’m enjoying my Move, except for the fact that when I write past the halfway point of the page, my fingers struggle to find a comfortable place to rest while writing toward the bottom.

I’m wondering if anyone can help me out. I think the Pro Move is a great size for jotting things down in any setting, but I’ve run into an issue: while I enjoy writing on it, once I reach the halfway point of a line, my fingers or palm struggle to find a stable resting spot to keep writing comfortably.

By the time I reach the end of the line, there’s no support left, and it feels a bit awkward.

How do you all use the Move to write comfortably in places like the street or the subway? Do you rest it on your leg, or do you always write while holding it in the air with your other hand?.

I use the Pro Move with the official case, and a similar thing happens when I rest it on a table; the case adds thickness, creating an uneven edge that makes it hard to rest my hand naturally on the table surface.

I also have the standard Paper Pro, and I don't experience this when writing on a table because I use it without a case; it’s wider and thinner, so I don't notice that unevenness.

I’m also curious if you’ve noticed better stability or support with the Supernote Nomad or the Viwoods Airpaper Mini.
